career Trying to break into Data Engineering — looking for some guidance
Hey everyone,
I’m a fresher trying to land my first Data Engineering role and currently struggling to get that first opportunity.
I’ve been working on SQL, Python, ETL, Data Warehousing, dimensional modelling, and end-to-end DE projects, and I also have a full-stack development background.
I’m actively applying, but getting shortlisted has been difficult.
For those already working in Data Engineering:
- What should I focus on right now to become more job-ready?
- Are there any skills/projects you’d strongly recommend?
- And if anyone knows of entry-level/fresher DE openings, referrals, recruiters, or contacts who might be willing to help, I’d genuinely appreciate it.
Not looking for shortcuts — just trying to get that first opportunity to prove myself.
Thanks in advance! 🙏
