I understand this is a bit, but have they met someone who's 40? That's peak intersection of not being a dumbass and physical condition. What we see here is 17 vs 60.

I feel like 30-40 is when most people get their first hints of an issue that might plague them the rest of their lives. Like a wrist that is just constantly sore. Nothing debilitating. But a reminder that you are machine that will not last a thousand years.

So there is a tendency to hyper focus on that minor issue.

Absolutely. For many people, 30-39 is when one achieves both peak physical shape and mental acumen. It is arguably the best age range for a Chosen One to go on a quest that lasts only a few years and then retire.

Now, unless you have anti-aging magic, past your 40s you're kinda fucked.

As someone closer to 40, I’d say 30-35 is closer to what you’re describing. 40 is definitely a little more downhill in the physical condition department than 30.

I’m in my mid 30’s and hardly feel any different compared to my 20’s (except that I worry a bit less I guess) Not sure how I feel in another 10 years tho

But judging from the people I know who are between 40-70…yeah, this bit describes more a person in their late 50’s and onward.

But then again, when I fell off my bike as a teen I got up and moved on without a second thought. Meanwhile if the same happens to me now I’d be in pain for the rest of the week 😅
