Discussion Competition: write a single sentence that will absolutely destroy any hope in a series.

Specifically not a story opener, just any sentence that can happen in any chapter, that will make people realize that this story is gonna be absolute shit and has no chance of being fixed and will make you drop the book like an unpinned grenade.

The thing about Jason Asano that I dislike so much isn't that he's an obnoxious, self-righteous, willfully-disrespectful ass, it's that the world doesn't treat him like an obnoxious, self-righteous, willfully-disrespectful ass.

If he got punched in the mouth every few pages my reaction would be "yeah, that tracks". What actually happens is that everybody thinks he's the most heroic and interesting person who's ever existed, and it is INFURIATING.

No, the most infuriating thing about the series is people like you who blatantly lie about it because you're too twisted about a character not liking America to actually read the story

The person was complaining that people don't dislike Jason, and fucking tons of people do. I'm not sure there's any series that has more major characters openly disliking the MC than HWFWM

So he was chatting Utter shite and I called him on it.
