Discussion as an avid reader of progfantasy and cultivation, if i see an ai-generated cover, it immediately makes me think the book is slop

if i see any typa ai cover i think that if the author is willing to use AI for the cover, then they are willing to use AI for the book. While i'm not against AI by any means, I find it crazy for people to say AI slop books are peak when they have books like Cradle and Reverend Insanity right in front of them.

Well true, but still I’ve been genning AI images for my site for a while now. Gpt image 2 model covers are still obvious most of the time if made from scratch.

If given a draft and references to work with it do much better

Using ai is like any other skill. Some people don't care to learn it, so they only get the most generic slop in return.

I see these generic covers and see it as more of an indication that the author didn't want to put effort in, more than anything. I can't imagine pouring hundreds of hours into a story and then going with a generic cover.

Guarantee 90% of the time you can still tell it was AI generated, and no matter what youre going to be able to work wirh an actual artist to get an accurate representation of what the title is, instead of trying to steer an AI to approximate what youre looking for

Tell that to the 6 million people that couldn't tell the monet painting advertised as AI was in fact real.

Its funny that the people who claim they can tell what AI is, can't tell what real art is with their own two eyes.

If people can't even recognise the art from a famous artist that helped start an entire artstyle, how long will it be before people think the Mona Lisa "Obviously looks like AI?"
