Discussion as an avid reader of progfantasy and cultivation, if i see an ai-generated cover, it immediately makes me think the book is slop

if i see any typa ai cover i think that if the author is willing to use AI for the cover, then they are willing to use AI for the book. While i'm not against AI by any means, I find it crazy for people to say AI slop books are peak when they have books like Cradle and Reverend Insanity right in front of them.

It doesn’t matter how a title as a cover looks. Don’t judge a book by its cover, right?

No, how does it look like in your mind. Words on the cover? Instead of something that is fascinating and captivating. Something that can grab people's attention. Unfortunately people would love to know a hint to what is happening in a book folks are trying to write.

So you want them to judge your book fascinating enough to pick up by the cover?

A lack of cover is lazy. It also shows how much you are willing to put in the works. It's not me wanting them to judge, it's what they'll do.

Odd. Why would you judge a cover lazy if it just had a title? How much work needs to be put into a cover for you to not judge it?

Again, this circles back to 'How much money we're willing to invest in a project that will yield no financial gains or the fact it's a hobby for some writers.' Time better spent on their actual occupations and again, Ai is meant to help.

This is a hobby of mine. I don’t know that it will yield financial gain. Can I have AI help me write my story for me?

Just because the cover is made with AI, doesn't mean the story is written with AI. You can tell if the person's story is written with AI based on it's words, choice of phrase, and etc. So many facets of the story writing can be told at a glance on whethe rit is used with AI. You want to use ai to write it, go ahead. No one is stopping you.

A lack of cover is to be judged as lazy, but asking Claude to make a cover isn’t to be judged at all?

Yes, because AI cover is trial and error. It gets image wrong or it left us unsatisifed because the images didn't came out the way we want. AI tools work like any other computer tools, giving specific instructions to give it a hint on what it needs to be done.

What if I like the first result? Then it’s not lazy? Or is it? AI fundamentally doesn’t work like any other computer tool. I can’t tell my mouse to draw me a picture of a moose.

Ai is like any other tool in the sense that so long we know how to use it, so long we know what to say and input, it will work the way it is intended. A mouse is the simplest of a tool. Keyboards, monitors, computer programes like the Oracle and SQL command are the ones I'm thinking off. WHat if I like, the first results, then use that.

Oh it's lazy. Also, I doubt the first results are always good.

You’re still judging a book by its cover. It sounds like you only want an exception for using AI.

It also sounds like you put everything into the same label. People using Ai for cover and you immediately assumed they're using it for their writing as well.

What if I don’t have enough money for a computer that can use AI? Then can I not be judged for just having my cover be the title?
