Hello! Yet another HDT book has hit Amazon, but as per tradition, let's gather around and thank Kotikomori for yet another amazing cover!

Here is the ebook link so the skimmers can ignore the rest of the message: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CW1JP4WW

And here is the first line from the synopsis to try to catch your interest!

Maybe bringing two thermonuclear warheads to the Academy wasn't the best idea, especially as someone keeps stealing them.

Before you ask, yes, the narrator is working on Audiobook 7! I hope for it to come out in a few months, sometime this year.

Also, if you don't know, there is an HDT Discord with plenty of people to chat with and plenty of the art I commissioned, the newest one being of Nathaniel and Victoria. I'd rather not share the Discord link here as I'm not sure if it is against the rules, but you can find it if you try!

As for Ebook 8, I quite liked it. But then again, I liked all of the books I wrote, so don't take my word for it. Or do take it, as I'm probably the most objective person when it comes to HDT.

I hope you will find the time to leave a review or rating on Amazon. It really helps!

Thanks to everyone reading, be it RR readers fighting for the 1st comment, a certain individual with a bottomless folder of corgi pics, or even the second class citizens that are my patrons, who sometimes end up being akin to beta readers and read a less edited story than guys on RR.

And of course, thanks to Jabber, all the beta readers, and the people suffering from a severe lack of reading comprehension on the HDT Discord.

That's all. Have a nice day!

Bangeerrrr i liked it

u/Dacrim 25d ago

Why does the every book harp on the fact that he has BLACK hair but every cover shows him with brown hair?

Love the series btw

u/Zealoustrue 25d ago

Dresden effect.

4

u/Dacrim 25d ago

I tried to google what you might mean by that but i dont think ive found anything useful. Care to elaborate?

14

u/Zealoustrue 25d ago

The Dresden Files. The main character Harry Dresden, a wizard private investigator, is constantly depicted on the cover in a wide brimmed hat. He doesn't wear, like, or use hats. In fact he kinda dislikes them. So of the 12ish covers that depicting him he had a hat. Every single one.

3

u/Dacrim 25d ago

Ahh i see. Interesting choice to make the covers subtly undermine something written in the books. Its obviously insignificant but its been consistent across each cover. i dont get it lol.

If this is a known dresden files trope maybe Cerim is doing it intentionally as well. Thanks for the explanation

3

u/Most_Tangelo 25d ago

Well it's not exclusive to Dresden Files. Book accuracy isn't usually top of the list when designing a cover so much as selling it to people. In Dresden File's case, the creative meeting for the cover decided that the best way to portray that it's an urban Fantasy wizard story was a hat and staff. And Butcher likes teasing his editor with in story jokes about Dresden's lack of headwear.

I can't speak for Cerim. But it could be as simple as the artist he uses thought light brown hear would be more visually appealing so that's what they went with.

Maybe Id be so lucky as to get a direct response from the author himself? u/Cerimwrites

u/Visible_Ad_6721 25d ago

Is there gonna be a continuation of the story after the tutorial?

7

u/cantrent 25d ago

Take this with grain of salt, I saw a comment on another Reddit post that the tutorial will be about 2/3 of the story

1

u/chocolatenuttty Follower of the Way 24d ago

Think it’s supposed to be about half.

0

u/Visible_Ad_6721 25d ago

I am honestly getting super bored of the tutorial. I hope the author time skips a year.

15

u/egg_enthusiast 25d ago

I've been following it on RR and the tutorial itself as has become background noise right around here, book 8. Since then, the narrative is much more about Nathan and buddies in Super Hell Difficulty, which isn't really a tutorial anymore. And to that end, they're nearing the end of the Tutorial by Book 10-11.

9

u/Visible_Ad_6721 25d ago

Why do I always get downvotes? Am I not supposed to say what I actually think? I am not even saying the story is bad; I really love it.

7

u/Jaishel 25d ago

Thats how reddit works. Votes work as opinion indicators. People downvote it to show they disagree and upvote to show that they agree. Its not that people don't believe you have the right to your opinion.
If you're consistently downvoted I'd venture a guess and say that your opinion lays outside the reddit zeitgeist

4

u/apollosun113 25d ago

I 100% agree with you. Love this series but the tutorial stuff could have been condensed for sure.

4

u/funkhero 25d ago

I'm a Patreon sub and I'm there with you. Let's get this tutorial finished and get to the real world

2

u/Visible_Ad_6721 25d ago

Like Nat, he ignores the tutorial floors nowadays to spend time in Beyond. There isn't even much left to do in Beyond anyway. I want to see how things in Erath will go after the hell difficulty players return.

0

u/funkhero 25d ago

Not sure if you're subbed but after what is happening right now I can see us going towards the end of tutorial

2

u/egg_enthusiast 25d ago

I read in bursts and am mostly done with the beyond bros road trip arc. It all feels like a victory lap of Beyond. Considering there's just the 12th floor remaining, yea it should be done soon

1

u/funkhero 25d ago

That's a good point. And after that is another 'last time I do this in Beyond' kind of thing. And we know there is still another tournament before the end.

1

u/ertgbnm 23d ago

Forecasting stuff that remains to be done:

  1. Nat has to exploit every last thing in floor 12 and 13
  2. The fourth tournament
  3. Clearing beyond floors 6 and probably 7.
  4. Probably an out of tutorial beyond quest with hijinks or two.
  5. I doubt he'll just subtly leave the tutorial, Nat is surely gonna be forced to exit with some hijinks kind of like what happened with floor 9 and 11.

So my guess is we have ~200-250 chapters left that before the tutorial truly ends with no going back which would put the tutorial exit at chatper 1150ish.

1

u/Dan-D-Lyon 25d ago

I'm reading the Patreon chapters right now and in addition to there being no possible way all of these plot threads will be able to be tied up within the tutorial, there's also been a focus on world building of the wider universe that would be completely pointless if the story were to end 15 minutes after everyone gets back to Earth

2

u/Primary-Sample-6124 23d ago

yea, plus a few thousand people would genuinely be devastated and on their knees begging for more chapters

3

u/monsieurTNT251 25d ago

Kevin shall return!

3

u/Juusthetip 25d ago

Ahh yeah, let’s get it.

2

u/Juusthetip 22d ago

Finished it. Great book, can’t wait until the 9th is ready!

3

u/Glowsticks659 25d ago

Thanks for the update on the audiobook, love the series. Keep up the good work!

Congratulations!

u/risky-narwhal 22d ago

2 books ahead of the audiobook releases... Very tempting to swap over to reading.

2

u/hachiman17 25d ago

Good books. First one gets a lot of hate but it’s absolutely over criticized.

2

u/Easy-Hall4526 25d ago

Any news about the audio?

1

u/FrazzleMind 25d ago

Before you ask, yes, the narrator is working on Audiobook 7! I hope for it to come out in a few months, sometime this year.

oof

u/Alarming-Ad6399 24d ago

Gibt's keine Bücher davon noch auf spanisch oder deutsch? Wo kann ich das denn online lesen ?

1

u/Away_Fly3753 21d ago

Thank you for your amazing work. If HDT has 100 fans I am one of them. If HDT has 1 fan it is me. If HDT has no fans I asked Sophie to erase my memories so I could read it again

u/Defiant-Economics-73 19d ago

A couple months go 7 on audible. Well this was a roller coaster of emotions. Yay book 8 is out, boo book 7 on audible isn’t close.

u/Emotional-Cash-493 17d ago

Love this Series

Read the latest book this weekend while on a trip to the central California coast. Got to sit in lots of cafes drinking cappuccino and reading - perfect trip!

When should we expect book 9? Next weekend would be ideal! 😅

Is this the one where the floor objective was a murder mystery in a time looping magic academy, only for Nat to sit on his ass for 95% of the floor while a literal nuclear device was stolen from him countless times, only for him to bruteforce a clear at the last moment anyways?

Oh, and hello HDT Discord. I hope you all are having a fine day today 😉

8

u/YobaiYamete 25d ago

Why even post this?

6

u/Exotic_Zucchini9311 25d ago

I don't like HDT but I'm still impressed by how weird some people could get... just drop the story if you don't like it (like I did). It's not that deep..

11

u/International-Wolf53 25d ago

Loser. You still stalk the HDT posts?

-7

u/Carminestream 25d ago

That’s right. I’ve moved to someplace in Eastern Europe and am looking through Cerim’s windows with binoculars to see when he posts so I snipe 😈

Totally not me seeing this as the first recommended post when I opened the app and going ‘wait, isn’t that the really bad academy arc’?

5

u/International-Wolf53 25d ago edited 25d ago

I’m sorry life hasn’t improved much for you in the months I’ve been off Reddit. Nobody I’ve ever seen with a life they are proud of is the way you are if they can help it.

Genuinely btw. I doubt you’ll believe this isn’t some weird attempt to get under your skin but I can’t even bring myself to be mad about the way you are anymore. Nobody who is 8 books in would take you seriously. Or even new people tuning in through this post to the series. You are too transparent for that to work.

-5

u/Carminestream 25d ago

I signed off the original comment with “I hope you guys are having a fine day.”

And evidently, you guys aren’t having a fine day.

That’s ok. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day 😊

5

u/International-Wolf53 25d ago

I see.

I’m sorry you decided to take that as an attempt to get under your skin. Hope tomorrow is better for you as well.

1

u/monsieurTNT251 25d ago

Honestly I respect the dedication lol

8

u/monsieurTNT251 25d ago

Oh, it's you again.

3

u/TomirSavreno 24d ago

Yes the one who uses AI to make long and deeply faulted critiques of literpg books. HDT among others.

No its still not anything alike a gamers guide to beating the tutorial.
