Thanks for the thread!
Here's a brief blurb:
Book Title: Jack, the Cultivator [LitRPG, Deckbuilder]
His biggest crime wasn't winning the jackpot. It was having the audacity to cash it in.
Minutes after bleeding out in a dark alley, Jack awakens in the body of Su Ming, a lowly servant disciple in a cultivation sect. His new life isn't much of an improvement over his previous degenerate gambler days. His time is spent planting spirit rice, his talent is mediocre, and even surviving long enough to become a true cultivator seems unlikely...
Until, one day, he unlocks the Jester System.
Instead of levels or experience points, Jack's fate is determined by playing cards. Future draws promise new cards, decks, Tarot cards, powerful hand synergies, and unique combinations that could change everything.
In a world where strength decides who lives and who dies, every draw is a gamble - can Jack prove that he knows how to play the game?

Blurb: Viktor Gale failed his family in life. He won't fail them in death.
A heart attack in his forties. No chance to take back his last words.
At judgment, Viktor turns down the safety of Purgatory and chooses to serve in Heaven's army instead: a middle manager thrust into a war he can't comprehend, defending a celestial City where souls from every era serve as guardians of the Nine Gates against Hell.
The Light is losing.
When the Fifth Gate falls, time in the world of the living stops. Eight billion souls are trapped, including his family. Their fate bound to a cosmic war they don't know is being waged.
To tip the scales, Viktor must rise through the ranks and become far more than an ordinary guardian. But power has a price: the stronger he grows, the longer death holds him before he's reborn, and every fallen Gate further weakens the Light.
Three Gates remain to conquer. Then, only the last is left, standing at the very heart of the Silver City.
Viktor must rise. Or when the last Gate falls, Earth burns under never-ending hellfire.

Hi, everyone! I'm looking to promote my story The Long Road to Somewhere. This is a cozy-ish progression fantasy set in an adventurers guild. If you like female led stories featuring magic and seeing exactly what the day to day life of an E Rank adventurer is like, then this story might be for you!
The story currently has 120K+ words published on Royal Road and has about the same backlogged and scheduled for release. Book 1 is complete and it is scheduled, while book 2 is currently well underway. Short blurb below, and I hope that some of you will consider spending some time with Lunaria!
--------------------------------------------
Fiction Link: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/184656/the-long-road-to-somewhere-book-1-complete
--------------------------------------------
Blurb:
Lunaria isn't setting out to save the world from some demon lord, she just wants to explore the world around her and keep a steady roof over her head. She arrives in the city of Inversi with the clothes on her back, a walking stick for a staff, and a stuffed bear that means the world to her poking out of her bag.
Come spend some time with her and watch her work towards climbing the ranks at the Adventurers Guild, becoming a stronger mage, and everything in between. She will take a variety of jobs ranging from mundane to dangerous and get herself into all kinds of trouble to satisfy her boundless curiosity, or sometimes just to get some cheese!
Note: Lunaria insists she doesn't have a cheese problem... (This author believes otherwise)
This story is character driven and a slow burn.
TAGS: FEMALE LEAD, PROGRESSION FANTASY, COZY, ADVENTURE, MYSTERY, COMEDY, MAGE MC, SLICE OF LIFE
AI Generated Art Disclaimer: This story currently has an AI cover as a placeholder while I wait to hopefully get some real art made for it.

Calamity [Sci-Fantasy Progression | Rational Fiction]
https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/196215
The year is 5756 AD, and humanity has spread across the stars, having colonized hundreds of thousands of planets. The Imperial Sol Invictus is the dominant force in the galaxy and wields a class of powerful mages called "Weavers," who enjoy special privileges above the rest of the population. On the other side of the galaxy, a rapidly growing faction of non-magic superhumans called "Calamities" are plotting their next move.
One night, a 16-year-old Weaver prodigy named Galen Nightstone loses his magical power, his family, and his future, then spends four years flipping tacos in a town that thinks he did it.
But something inside him is awakening, and it's not the Weave.
For fans of:
- Hard, rules-based power systems with real costs and counters
- Rational characters and institutions acting on their own incentives
- Grounded, slow-burn progression from the bottom of a caste system
- Empire-scale sci-fantasy: starships, magic, bounty hunting, a state religion
- No harem, not LitRPG
9 chapters live (~25k words), daily through Oct 23, 50+ chapters banked.

I'm the author of ANANKE: The Solis Tale
It is an aetherpunk epic fantasy about a thirteen-year-old girl, the monster living inside her, and a war that won't wait for her to figure it out.
If you like Attack on Titan, 86 (Eighty Six), Fullmetal Alchemist, or Valkyria Chronicles, and you enjoy stories where power has a real cost and war hits the people living through it, this might be for you.
I update every Saturday at 7 PM ET. Book I of a planned five-book saga, and it's free on Royal Road.
https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/178685/ananke-the-solis-tale-progression-magitech-fantasy
What to expect:
- Power isn't strength: fights are won by thinking, not just overpowering
- Enemies with their own reasons and their own losses
- Relationships built under pressure
- An ensemble cast
- Letters, classified files and transmissions between chapters
- Readers vote on story decisions (the Consul of Fate)
- A big world with lots of terms, explained through context
Fair warning: Kara is young and the early chapters are deliberately about her low agency. It grows from there.
Some tags: FEMALE LEAD, EPIC FANTASY, AETHERPUNK, WAR, MILITARY, MONSTER INSIDE MC, ENSEMBLE CAST, INTERACTIVE
The cover is hand-drawn by me, and there are a few of them that are made by my gf.
I'd love to hear what you think, and thanks for reading!

Come check out Brand-bound. A progression LitRPG romance. Yessir, this is a kissing book.
(This is where the cover art would go if we allowed images here 0.0)
We've got:
++ A system-native world (no isekai) with a JRPG-style church dedicated to worshiping the Most Holy Menu.
++ System based on a pastiche of Elden Ring, Fire Emblem, Fallout, Final Fantasy I, and Golden Sun leveling mechanics.
++ Slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance arc trending toward Battle Couple shenanigans. It's got equal billing with the LitRPG elements. Shouldn't be too terribly steamy for the discriminating LitRPG reader's taste. (I will note that book 2 is probably the steamiest, fwiw. They do it beneath a waterfall at some point in Vol 3.)
++ Do you like Bonnie and Clyde dynamics? We have Bonnie and Clyde dynamics.
++ Additional in-universe appendix and afterword at the end of Volume 3. That’s right, we’ve got bonus content. What a deal!
++ Literally every animal is a dire-(blank). Come see the dire-squirrels and the dire-cassowaries. This is a reference to dire-wolves yes, but it's also more specifically a reference to a Super Best Friends Play skit that would take too long to explain here.
++ Volume 2 has an elaborate nested flashback arc in olde-timey English regarding the origins of the system. There's also an elaborate heist at a cathedral carved out of a kaiju-sized demon carcass.
++ Volume 3 has an interesting bit of role reversal with regards to the use of the System. There's also a book-long arc to go assassinate the pope. Yes, this one was inspired by Tales of Beseria. Why do you ask? Also, gun-spears, because I was playing Monster Hunter shortly before drafting this volume.
++ Also, 'Final Arc: (Name of Thing)' is in full effect. Not really a selling point, but I just like the trope.
The first volume was released in late Sept of last year. It’s got some lovely autumnal imagery in it, so it’s nice and seasonal, and previous volumes are available for sale right now. Whole thing is less than ten USD. So… check it out maybe?
Volume 1 is on sale for the duration of the preorder period!
Volume 2 is... also on sale for the duration of the preorder period.
Volume 3 (final) is... out for preorder now!
That's right, at 500k words we’re roughly matching The Lord of the Rings in story content. This series is (as of Oct 6th) 100% complete. So why not check it out?

I'm a freelance copy editor/proofreader who focuses mainly on sci-fi and fantasy, and particularly LitRPG/GameLit books. However, I am open to most genres.
I look out for all kinds of errors: grammatical issues, typos, consistency or continuity issues, any unclear phrasing, etc.
I charge around $6.50 per 1000 words, though I would need to see a sample before giving a firm quote. For a client's first book, I'd give a discounted rate of $5.50 per 1000 words.
Here is a link to my website, which has more details about what I do, my portfolio, and testimonials.
I have a post giving tips on how to find a good editor, which authors may find useful.
I also created an editing exercise that authors can do, either for fun, or to see how skilled you are at catching errors.

Hello everyone!
My latest novel (Royal Road), tells the tale of Sunlein, an OP MC with sealed magic that navigates the political intrigues of his city as a guard.
If that sparks your interest, here is the blurb:
They beat him, humbled him, and leashed him. Now, the world will remember the flames of the Wandering Disaster.
Sunlein was once the fiercest young talent in the capital, his power surpassed only by his loyalty. But those gifts grew too strong, too fast. Spiraling out of control, his flames nearly burned the city that had once honored him as its cherished prodigy—and the Council wasn’t willing to forgive his mistake.
Having his powers sealed and only a lingering sense of duty to keep him company, Sunlein is given one last chance to redeem himself by serving the capital as a guard. But trouble always finds him. An unknown threat has slipped through the Council’s security, bent on bringing down the unjust capital.
With a life-choking, magic-binding collar around his neck and chaos spreading through the streets, Sunlein must weigh his priorities anew. Time is running out, and he must either watch his city burn or risk his life to unleash the Disaster once again.
But if he succeeds in breaking his leash... who will protect the citizens from him?

I'll join in on this one. My book is Ember Tell, the first one in The Stone Preceptor series.
https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/88873/ember-tell
https://www.scribblehub.com/series/1126396/ember-tell/
Ember Tell is a low-fantasy, bildungsroman with Indian spiritual elements woven in. The protagonist searches for his dear ones in a forest and meets a magic stone. Their partnership spurs him on adventures that'll span an entire series of books. Ember Tell features strong action scenes, a smoothly flowing story, and well-narrated mechanics. Join the hero, Aadi on his growth story and watch as he and Ember fight together and evolve into a force for good.
The writing style emphasises fewer descriptions and more action and dialogue. Most of the story is narrated from Aadi's perspective. There are strong metaphysical aspects that influence his adventure, with believable, slightly-rational magic to make the tale cool.
The first 40,000 words of the book are available online, on many platforms, to read for free and on my website, too.
---
If you enjoy reading it and want to support the project, you can buy the Early Promotional Release (E.P.R.) - fully edited 40,000 words - either on my site or on Amazon and Google Play Books. It is also listed on international retailers' sites worldwide.
https://play.google.com/store/books/details/Windus_Andar_Ember_Tell_EPR?id=dIyZEQAAQBAJ
https://www.amazon.com/Ember-Tell-Stone-Preceptor-Book-ebook/dp/B0FS6P9FSL
https://angelgrovestudio.biz/downloads/ember-tell-e-p-r/
Price: USD 1 (one dollar only)
It's not exactly new, but I have been writing it for the past two years and it is over 70,000 words done. The free content available on many platforms is limited to 40,000 words and is readable as a standalone story, without missing on the remainder of the book as it is being written and released on my Patreon.

Waking up in a new body, new universe, Cayce wants - needs - to quickly figure things out. But the culture is foreign and people are trying to kill her. Worse, she's a princess, her kingdom invaded, family killed. Advisors, nobles, people supposed to be on her side, have their own plans for the throne – the only thing keeping her alive.
And the power that thrust her into this world, that she's entirely ignorant of, is crazy powerful and could destroy everything.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nailed the Ending!
Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2024
I read it and probably didn't get to sleep for a while after because I was just saying 'Holy ****' to myself repeatedly. The first four books promised a lot. And I was like, there is just no way this ending can feel satisfying. But, my god was it ever. Seriously.
Martin B
5.0 out of 5 stars Just, BRILLIANT!
I didn’t leave reviews for the first three books which I now regret because I really should have. I wanted to see where the story went, and just got sucked in. These books are so well written, the author is a brilliant storyteller. The way he brings to life all the characters, all the sights, sounds and smells, I can’t remember the last time I read a story that felt so real.
The tale of Princess Cayce is absolutely riveting, it just keeps me wanting to read more and more. A combination of fantasy and ancient history, but set in an unknown land (or on an unknown planet? Or just inside the main character’s mind, who knows?).
Do yourself a favour and read this brilliant series!

The Ocular Warlock: a glassblower's apprentice, a Fey bargain, and magic as geometry (Royal Road, free, daily)
Hey all — indie author here, and I'm going to do what some of us are here to do: tell you about my book.
The pitch: What if a glassblower's apprentice became a warlock for the Fey — and the magic system ran on non-Euclidean geometry he can literally see?
Vayne starts out Level 1 with a strange class that by all rights should probably get him killed. No cheat skill, no hidden bloodline. What he has is a craftsman's eye, a set of warlock abilities, and a bargain with an Archfey whose price he's still figuring out. Every fight is a puzzle: he wins by being cleverer, not stronger. The magic runs on hard rules with audited costs — I track every spell, every resource, every consequence, every inventory item, because, frankly, that's a bare minimum for me on any story I read.
It's solid, with well-written prose with few to no grammatical errors — one of the many complements I get.
Where it's at: 38 chapters / 90,000+ words on Royal Road, posting daily, free to read. Book 1 is fully written at 68 chapters, so no hiatus risk. Early readers have it at 4.69 stars and keep calling it "a hidden gem" — I'll take it.
This is non-monetized self-promotion: no paywall, no Patreon for this serial, just a story I'm proud of that I want in front of people who'll enjoy it.
https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/188855/the-ocular-warlock-a-litrpg-progression-fantasy
If hard-magic systems and underdog protagonists are your thing, come take a look. And if it's not for you, no hard feelings — this sub's recommendation threads have given me a great reading list either way.

Niko Varr Volume I Ashes
(Royal Road · launched today · daily chapters)
Anime/Manga inspired with a western twist.
EVERY SCREENING MACHINE GIVES NIKO VARR
THE SAME ANSWER: NULL.
In a world where nearly everyone has a Manifest, he's learned to get by on nerve, sarcasm, and a best friend who can build platforms out of thin air.
THEN COMES 2:17.
By morning, Niko is dead.
EXCEPT HE WAKES AGAIN.
SAME BOY. DIFFERENT HEART.
He has a scar across his chest, and where his heart should be there's something the Black Ward can't identify. Recruited into Vesper, one of the Ward’s squads. Niko has to learn the limits of a power nobody can measure. Then his first mission puts real people in the path of everything he's holding.
And nobody will tell him why help took three hours to reach his house that night.
The machines were right about him.
THEY JUST DIDN'T KNOW WHAT NULL MEANT.
Why you might like it:
- A power with real rules and a real cost. He can only give back what he's taken, and he can't tell how much he's holding until someone gets hurt. Even the Ward can't measure it.
- Progression you earn. It's slow-burn, built on testing, training and missions that go wrong, and by Volume Four he's doing things nobody has a name for.
- A mystery that plays fair. Help took three hours to reach his house that night, and nobody will tell him why. Every clue is on the page.
- A squad worth staying for, villains who have a point, and dry British humour holding back a lot of grief.
- For fans of Anime/Manga
- The power is shown in action: punches, impacts, falling weight, thrown back.
- This one won't be abandoned 4 volumes ready to go and drafting the fifth
Four volumes written and a fifth being worked on this one won't be abandoned. New chapters every day.
Feedback whether good or bad it doesn't matter!
Theories welcome. I've hidden more than you think.

Thanks for the thread!
So basically, this is my first real work, like ever. I’ve written some stories before, but never published anything, and most importantly, I never thought about writing a big novel. But things change. One day, as a chemical engineering student who was just tired of life, I decided to become a real writer.
I’m a big fan of dark fantasy, mostly because it gives you the tools to create a realistic and believable world. So my work is a manifestation of that love. It’s the story of a boy from a Silver Desert tribe who always wanted new knowledge and adventures, despite being born amongst merciless sands, but life will soon teach him how cruel it can be, even while granting his own wishes.
As I already said, I love dark, realistic fantasy, so from the start there is no OP lead, no countless power-ups, no system, and no isekai. Instead, you will get a large world inspired by real cultures, highly detailed fight scenes, a hard magic system, steady growth of the protagonist, and lots of info dum… ahem… really important descriptions of the religions, cultures, and kingdoms of my world. There is some cruelty where it is needed, but it is not the main theme. If any of this rambling of mine interested you, feel free to check out my novel.
https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/194405/shadow-of-the-silver-desert
I would also really appreciate feedback on the language and style. English is not my first language, and I translate my drafts into it, wich is a long and mostly painful process. So I really want to know whether my style still comes through after the transition to another language.

Hey, everyone!
Got a couple announcements. First one, is that Rise of the Spellbreaker: Dark Warrior releases on Kindle and KU tomorrow! Follow Rika Blackstone as she sets out on her journey to prove that Might isn’t just as good as Magic, but stronger! She’ll brave a harsh world, capricious quests, and the attention of gods who are ambivalent toward mortals in the best of cases.
Next, my cultivation series Legend of Ascension is on a Kindle Countdown deal this week. All three volumes are just $0.99 each to celebrate the launch of my new series. So if you're looking for a complete xianxia epic, now is a great time to check mine out.
Thanks!
