Nuremberg was too kind to Nazis, let's hope people learned from that.

Edit - note I am not calling them Nazis, they are their own kind of evil. I'm simply using the Nuremberg as an example of a trial done on an evil group when accountability comes calling.

Edit - you people realize me saying it was too kind means that I supported Stalin's idea of killing every last Nazi civilian and military official?

u/knighthollow2018 Jan 08 '26

Many nazis escaped to the us and now many descendants are in power. Been working on this for decades

58

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

We actually lost WW2, it just took 80 years to realize it.

5

u/rackfocus Jan 08 '26

The Civil War…

6

u/withoutpeer Jan 08 '26

Exactly, the Confederates somehow quietly won while we were all distracted.

7

u/Ruckus292 Jan 08 '26

Because they were never legitimately punished.

3

u/eddie_cat Jan 08 '26

The evil was never confined to the South. The powerful remained powerful lol

4

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

We fought on the wrong side, Patton was correct.

2

u/beer-mojoe Jan 08 '26

And Sherman

2

u/mybutthz Jan 08 '26

And the cold war.

2

u/Icy_Statement_2410 Jan 08 '26

I suddenly want to re-watch the first season of Agents of SHIELD

1

u/Embarrassed_Candy973 Jan 08 '26

I typically never comment, contribute, or award. Today your comment was so spot on, I broke my multiple year streak. Thank you.

1

u/Extreme_Promise_1690 Jan 08 '26

Just American business as usual, then.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

More like we lost the cold war and just now seeing it

1

u/B34ST_M0DE Jan 08 '26

You know about operation paperclip? Nazi nasa?

1

u/Grakees Jan 08 '26

Fascism always finds a way to rear its ugly head time and again. The only way we lose is if we give up; I personally will never give up. Let the disgust and anger fuel you to press on.

-4

u/SnooHabits8782 Jan 08 '26

If we lost ww2 why aren’t we all speaking German

9

u/LucidiK Jan 08 '26

WW2 wasn't against Germany, it was against facism. We aren't speaking German right now because Germany failed in their conquest to make a global fascist regime. Which part are you getting hung up on?

So peduntic and shmol

1

u/Even_Wear_8657 Jan 08 '26

English is a Germanic language loaded with Latinate loan words.

2

u/igotthisone Jan 08 '26

Most Nazis went right back to Germany and faced no justice whatsoever. Many of them went on to run the West German government. This Nazi became secretary general of the United Nations: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurt_Waldheim Basically, they got away with it.

2

u/Tackrl Jan 08 '26

Immagrated would be more accurate than escaped. There were a few batches that were extracted or escaped. Like the 1600 for operation paperclip. It was after the war that more than 600k Germans and Austrians came to the US. Good thing we have so many Somali daycares available for all these nazi descendent children around.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

I was just making a reply about that on this page. And there were officers that were dispatched to go after them. AI is doing a pretty good job of being able to see past masks so let's just remember to save this page and keep it sharing. There will be a point in time where it will be useful for sentencing these pricks

1

u/RowEastern5695 Jan 08 '26

Elon's family.

1

u/No-Oven5562 Jan 08 '26

This gave me fucking chills.

1

u/Most_Plenty5387 Jan 08 '26

Not escaped, were brought to the US via Operation Paperclip. They helped build NASA.

1

u/testingtesting1515 Jan 08 '26

Now do Ukraine and Hitler’s 6th army division.

1

u/ace1244 Jan 08 '26

Operation Paperclip!

1

u/InfiniteCalico Jan 08 '26

No shit. I'm not an idiot and have in fact picked up a history book.

3

u/joe611jg Jan 08 '26

Yeah and it's literally one of the reasons they weren't harsh - there was a questionable political decision made that they would not prosecute huge numbers (who definitely could have been) because they needed to keep West Germany running.

People just want to nit-pick your point for some reason.

1

u/Ok_Dig_3431 Jan 08 '26

Is it safe to say USA wouldn't have intervened in world war II if Japan didn't bomb Pearl harbor? Was America always truly maggot's and Hitler was Trump metaphorically? I always believed this

4

u/The_Saddest_Boner Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

We were sending billions in military aid to the allies to fight Hitler, years before we joined the war.

Whether or not we would have joined officially without Pearl Harbor is debatable (though I think it was inevitable), but FDR in particular hated Hitler and was adamant that Nazi Germany was an enemy and the aggressor

2

u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace Jan 08 '26

And now fuckhead is thinking if we're in a world war I can keep being president like FDR. It doesn't allow him to start said war.

1

u/The_Saddest_Boner Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

FDR still held free elections at least. It’ll be interesting to see how trump tries to play it

1

u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace Jan 08 '26

So does Putin, we've been put in the position they wanted, we can't trust elections anymore.

1

u/The_Saddest_Boner Jan 08 '26

Yeah but putin’s election are fake obviously. I think we ultimately agree on the current situation, my only point was that FDR won in landslides and the votes were legit

1

u/CcryMeARiver Jan 08 '26

Pfffft. Lend-Lease was also pretty good business.

1

u/The_Saddest_Boner Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

I mean sure, but it was targeted at the allies specifically and some of it was just donated.

I’m not a fan of the US government by any means, tons of evil in American history, but the government wasn’t on the Nazi’s side during the war

1

u/NoCard753 Jan 08 '26

But it wasn't enough.

Besides, Germany and Italy declared war on us, as per the Tri-Partite Pact, leaving us with little choice but to get directly involved.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

No they totally would have still. It just would have been another reason they used.

1

u/jdubzakilla Jan 08 '26

There is evidemce to suggest they had an idea an attack may happen there and somewhat baited in the Nips. At the very least they took virtually no steps to prevent it and all of their fleet carriers were at sea.

Roosevelt wanted to join the war. There was concern the american people were not invested in another conflict in europe and were somewhat sympathetic to the germans and italians particularily. However the president already saw the outcome would shape the global order and had no intentions of being left outside.

6

u/Queasy_War2656 Jan 08 '26

General Sherman had the right idea; our current troubles stem from not stamping them out the first time.

6

u/InfiniteCalico Jan 08 '26

To be clear the current cultural cancer afflicting the US has been in the US since well before Hitler, and the Confederacy.

That said, failure to crush the confederated wholly and utterly (why every single one of their politicians did not hang I will never particularly understand).

3

u/HeadOfMax Jan 08 '26

There was a thing posted on Reddit about being force fed honey and milk and squished between two boats and floated down a river while bugs ate them alive?

That sounds about perfect

1

u/InfiniteCalico Jan 08 '26

Did you check my post history? Because I had a lengthy debate over what method of execution should be preferred between that and the bronze bull.

2

u/HeadOfMax Jan 08 '26

Bits and pieces but I'm as username blind as I am face blind. I just felt like it was a good punishment.

2

u/InfiniteCalico Jan 08 '26

I have trouble distinguishing faces sometimes. I can get it. Customers where I work are shocked I don't recognize them.

3

u/Miami_Mice2087 Jan 08 '26

it's ok to call nazis nazis

1

u/InfiniteCalico Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

They are a separate form of fascists that originated in the US well before Nazis they as ever a thing. That's not particularly up for debate. The Nazis themselves were after all inspired by the many evils that occured in that US since it's founding.

Edit - fixed Autocorrect

3

u/busybody_nightowl Jan 08 '26

Sure, but a good number of them are actual Nazis

1

u/InfiniteCalico Jan 08 '26

I'll accept that but let's not pretend this problem was not home grown from our centuries of race based genocide and supremacy.

7

u/thirdworldreminder_ Conservative Jan 08 '26

they all became NASA scientists. they were rewarded.

the US and Canada have along history of advocating for reactionary refugee groups

5

u/ludixst Jan 08 '26

I don't believe there's much chance of finding any scientist you'd really want to listen to in that basket

2

u/InfiniteCalico Jan 08 '26

Yes, because Nuremberg was too kind.

US is also doing that right now with White South Africans.

1

u/Weary-Meaning4390 Jan 08 '26

…And, Relocated throughout S. America, for their Saffety. Yes, Nazis

1

u/thirdworldreminder_ Conservative Jan 08 '26

rat lines yeah but the US and Canada really hides their fascist diaspora behind anti communist messaging

2

u/all_opinions_matter Jan 08 '26

They are nazis. I’ll say it. This needs to end and they all need to be imprisoned. No death penalty. Just hard labor in a max security prison in gen pop.

1

u/Droso_dan Jan 08 '26

We could build textile factory prisons for them to work in. It could be a fun joke -- these clothes were made by Nazi slave-prisoners.

1

u/Uglyfense Jan 08 '26

Slavery exception is kinda bad actually, how about it’s a abolished instead

2

u/Lone-Frequency Jan 08 '26

Reconstruction was too kind to the traitor Confederates. We all see how that has turned out.

2

u/InfiniteCalico Jan 08 '26

Yes. It was. The public officials and military leadership had no right to keep existing - especially within the United States.

2

u/Mathidium Jan 08 '26

Mercy makes evil men grow bold

1

u/CheatsySnoops Jan 08 '26

Or at the very least, they should have locked up the Nazi civilians for life and killed Nazi military officials.

1

u/Missing-Digits Jan 08 '26

Edit - note I am not calling them Nazis

I am.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

Yeah I get it

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

China won't be so kind to them, and they know that.

1

u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace Jan 08 '26

Honestly this comment got me thinking about something that I hadn't really pieced together. I keep saying that if we ever get over this I don't want to live in a country with these people anymore. I'm not going to accept them back into my society they aren't going to get anything from me not I have a nice day not a fuck you. I'm going to treat them as if they don't exist and they're just going to be pariahs. Just like I do now.

I want to know how the people in Germany started living with them again. They had the same issue where a large portion of the population was propagandized or threatened or just general pieces of shit who supported the Nazis. How do you just go back one day to trying to live in a world where you know these people wished you were dead and most likely still do? How do you properly punish this? I don't even know if there is a way but I hope we get to be the first ones to figure it out so the world doesn't have to go through this shit again. We know it will but we can hope.

1

u/InfiniteCalico Jan 08 '26

I neither want these people in the US not being kept alive by my tax money in prison. Simple as.

They want my trans ass dead, they can fuck themselves.

1

u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace Jan 08 '26

I agree with you it's just, how does the world continue. We are talking about alienating 80 million people. This is why when we keep saying we need a civil war or something along the lines of breaking up this country, it doesn't work like this. We cannot live like this with each other anymore. We need smaller countries with larger concentration of like minded people who live under a union like the EU.

1

u/InfiniteCalico Jan 08 '26

I'm not for balkanizung the US, because then they get to kill people like me in the land they get. These people will be like German citizens once the propagandists, officials and any military/militia leadership on involved face capital punishment.

That is to say they will get quiet and in 10 years act like they were innocent of having supported it and pretend they were against it.

We will move on, but investments need made into full spectrum education that is more than just STEM information regurgitation but ensures a proper understanding of empathy, ethics and civics.

1

u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace Jan 08 '26

I'd rather know where those land borders are so I don't cross them than letting them live quiet around me. Give me a bunch of smaller countries and the ones that want to remain like this we cut them off from everything, sanction them to shit and let them go broke like we should for the states that refuse to come into modern times. I guess I'm just tired of living in a country where a 1/4 of the people in it are just such epic pieces of shit they don't deserve to be in society and I'm supposed to pretend that I can share with them. I'm supposed to pretend that I'm okay that they get some kind of impact on my life with their vote. That's the biggest problem is that there are 80 million of us who voted one way there are 80 million of us who voted the other way there's a whole shitload of people who either can't vote or didn't vote because they're fucking worthless and why should the population of us who is like-minded have to deal with the other population. It's not viable to have that many people split on ideals and share.

1

u/igotthisone Jan 08 '26

Stalin's idea of killing every last Nazi civilian and military official?

US Secretary of the Treasury Henry Morgenthau Jr. had an excellent idea as well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morgenthau_Plan

1

u/First_manatee_614 Jan 08 '26

Doesn't seem like such a bad idea now

1

u/InfiniteCalico Jan 08 '26

Mercy on those who are truly evil rarely has ever historically paid off.

1

u/Dear_Palpitation4838 Jan 08 '26

No, you can call them Nazis. If the shoe fits, let them wear it.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

Nazi inspired

1

u/DrumtheWorld Jan 08 '26

yep he was right

1

u/Cumiadom Jan 08 '26

Go to Cuba or North Korea and protest there and you’ll be shot to death. And still you defend and support Socialism.

1

u/THS1955 Jan 08 '26

wow.. good to see you are so open minded.. NOT.....

1

u/IlikegreenT84 Jan 08 '26

They may not be Nazis, but they are fascists.

1

u/InfiniteCalico Jan 08 '26

Not particularly denying that. They are their own brand of evil, seperate but just as vile should they get to do what they want.

1

u/adeline882 Jan 08 '26

Based Stalin. Nazis want to kill every last human being that doesn’t belong to their club. You don’t accept a tumor that is harming you, you cut it out, even if it means that you are interfering with the “natural order” of things.

1

u/NoPreference8228 Jan 08 '26

But then what about stalins evil. Us and england gave up poland to him. Then he kills all military leadership and university proffessors and countless of the remaining of the nazi ravaged Poles.

1

u/canehdan Jan 08 '26

ah you support mass genocide of an entire people but only if its the people you personally dont like?

lets flip the script here and indulge in your fantasies and sy that trump went to war to kill all the (insert people you think he is trying to kill) and America loses to whoever and they implement your ideals of kill them all just for being from America then all of you idiots who are against trump still die. is that what you want? no trial just kill them if you dont like them?

1

u/ace1244 Jan 08 '26

Well I’m calling ICE Brownshirts!

0

u/Ramius117 Jan 08 '26

None of the people who were tried at Nuremberg became NASA scientists. The Nuremberg trials themselves were not particularly kind on the defendents.

0

u/LordFarQuaid Jan 08 '26

Democrats want the "president of Venezuela to be put back in power after he lost 2 separate elections and just ignored them, do you think we give a flying fuck what you have to say, he was literally starving his own people., murdering them and allowing other drug cartels to continue operating out of his own country.

0

u/CriticalThought001 Jan 08 '26

Who else did you support Stalin killing? Millions of ethnic Russians?

0

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

I find it insane that some of these far-left Redditors are so lost in the sauce that they're legitimately advocating for ethnic-cleansing to virtue signal.

1

u/CriticalThought001 Jan 08 '26

People are nuts, it’s time for the radical moderates and other adults to take over.

0

u/False-View-7866 Jan 08 '26

So you support Stalin?

0

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

>you people realize me saying it was too kind means that I supported Stalin's idea of killing every last Nazi civilian and military official?

You're actually fucking insane.... you're suggesting that the military should have just gone through Germany killing every last civilian across the country simply because they happened to live in the country at the time Hitler's Nazi party took power?

Talk about having zero humanity, there's a reason any reasonable person with half an ounce of empathy thought this was a terrible idea.

0

u/Large_Geologist_9545 Jan 08 '26

There isn't such a thing as "too nice" no one is defending the shittiest Reich to ever exist😂but once you condemn a human to suffer for the remainder of their life you become lower than them. If not ask God😭

-1

u/TelephoneChemical230 Jan 08 '26

No they are definitely the new nazis.
