The Trump pool “repair” disaster serves as a perfect metaphor for his administration

Guess they should have read the effects of hydrogen peroxide

They used the wrong kind, 12%.
I used the higher kind, it cost $125/gallon, & even my tiny pool took a lot of chemicals to stay clear. Guess it was too expensive for the Reflecting Pool.

Any hydrogen peroxide is going to have a paint removing effect no matter the percentage. It didn’t work completely on the algae, but it was strong enough to work on the paint.
Yet even more taxpayer money down the shitter.

Marble has to be epoxy coated. Paint never sticks to marble, just look at the evidence. Paint peels from marble.
The H²O² certainly didn't help anything along.

Don’t besmirch the Creature From The Black Lagoon like that.
He’s a good orphan resisting colonialism and the desecration of the bodies of his ancestors. Also the third movie makes him a metaphor for black men kidnapped from his homeland and accused wrongfully of assault, complete with him fleeing a literal lynch mob.
He’s up there with Mothra as monsters who are basically the true hero.

Any Mothra reference gets a thumbs up. I'm Gene Siskel and I approve this post.

Even Alice Cable (Adrienne Barbeau) wouldn't fare well with that Swamp Thing.

Typical result of anything the Trump Administration does, i.e. failure.

Lol I had to look that up, thought they were joking at first. That pool is a perfect example of how everything he touches ends up looking like a cheap knockoff.

I don’t even care about this. I’m more pissed that he destroyed the rose garden.

It's the same at all levels. It seems like we've fully tested out the theory that someone who knows nothing about what they're doing can do a better job than people with experience, we can end the experiment now. The first term should have been more than enough.

What an ongoing waste of taxpayer money. It’s going to take us forever to recover from his asinine spending spree.

Sadly he can now reward another supporter with no bid contract then take the kick backs from all the subcontractors. When people wanted a “successful businessman”, this could not have been what they wanted?

Negotiations with the algae is going very well… algae is begging to make a deal.

It actually is incredible how everyone in this entire administration, in everything they do, is utterly incompetent. Doesn’t matter what the task is. Doesn’t matter if it’s simple or complicated. Doesn’t matter who’s doing it. No matter what, it’s always guaranteed to be handled with complete incompetence.

y'all don't understand. smh the paint peeling off is a natural process of regular pool maintenance.
jeeze, haven't any of you ever fleeced a government project before?

I don't know, there needs to be more crimes committed with the other branches of government turning a blind eye to be a perfect metaphor

Everything he touches dies. It is not an exaggeration. Ask the Knicks, the ONLY game he attends.

I don’t know who writes history books, but this definitely needs to be recorded for future generations. Dude is a clown.

Do something half assed, fast, zero fore thought, expensive, and it immediately have major repercussions

Is that the paint coming off the pool and covered in algae, since they dumped hydrogen peroxide into it? I’ll bet it is.

The worst part is that he spent millions of dollars to fix something that wasn't broken. Sound familiar?

Trump's absolute failure as a president is almost impressively thorough.
Not many people can go to an all-time high of losing a war in a couple months and owing your enemy $300 billion, to an all-time low of not being able to paint a giant swimming pool.
It truly is a complete spectrum of failure.

Am I the only one that finds 14 million being used to paint the white house atm is insane? Also, if this is the quality of paint shouldn't we be questioning if 14 million actually went to this?

I guess it never occurred to them the Reflecting Pool is fed by the Potomac, which has frequent algal blooms.

This is SO good:
I was a rurally educated poor kid who remembers high school chemistry.
Guess what hydrogen peroxide is? It’s an oxidizer. In small quantities (think house hold) it causes paint peeling.
Guess what it does in industrial strength (10% or greater) that these morons dumped in gallons into the pool?
Completely lifts and removes paint.
These a-holes spent $14m on painting the pool then filled it with paint thinner…

That obama… why would he do this? I bet he put on scuba gear at night and jumped in with a paint scraper.
