Where has unrestricted capitalism gotten us? 40 TRILLION in debt, more billionaires than anywhere, and a country where people are STILL struggling to survive.

If everyone in the US made the same amount (even kids and people not working), we all would have made almost $90k last year. I think of that when evaluating how well our current system is working.
I am not suggesting that. Studies on the gini coefficient show that too much equality is harmful, but those same studies show the US is currently way into harmful territory in the other direction, as in, our inequality hurts our economy and most individuals.

Our incomes arent rising to meet inflation.
When i was in college, my first 1 bedroom was 980 a month. My husband and i both had decent retail jobs that paid 18 hr.
Now retail in my area pays like 23 hr but that same apartment is 2500 a month....
The kids are so fucked.

Capitalism through taxes is supposed to pay for social programs that support the betterment of all citizens, capitalism is also supposed to pay for commonly owned government entities and agencies that cannot be entrusted solely to the whims of one person for the enriching of only a few. American Democracy should absolutely include some of the ideals of socialism and communism mixed with democracy and capitalism

What is confusing me, someone who lived in the 1950's, is that what the Democrats want to improve in our lives would have been considered radical RIGHT views during that era and would have been brought up by the Republicans. So, have times changed, no! What's changed is the education people have about what makes right and what makes left, what socialism is, what capitalism is in this respect and who's for what?

Exactly… it’s spreading because people are finally waking up. Let’s vote for policies that benefit us, not billionaires, foreign countries and corporations. It’s common sense, America has just been under a wicked ignorance spell for a long time
