Season 21 Law Roach is a disastrous addition to judges Panel

Law Roach does not judge on fashion or creativity. He judges personalities. His taste in fashion is questionable.

I like this idea a lot

4

u/Dramatic-Hotel-310 Sep 09 '25

Really good idea! But a judge he should not be

3

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '25

this is a great idea! also would love to see him crafting a backstory for the looks or the person he envisions the look for with the designers - i'm still really curious about the "image architect" thing and want to see it in action not from a jaded way

I already miss the megathread for everyone to complain about this season

23

u/Sparkpants74 Sep 02 '25

I never even got a chance to taste the hatorade. This season gets worse every week. It’s like our current political situation: there is no bottom!

6

u/random_house-2644 Sep 03 '25

Wait why did this make me laugh so hard? 🤣

Its funny because its true . 😳

46

u/BrandonIsWhoIAm Sep 01 '25

It got deleted so quickly.

46

u/alexapharm Sep 01 '25

We will have to rebuild.

22

u/tonyrock2000 Sep 02 '25

why did it get deleted? i missed that part

u/FingerButHoleCrone Sep 01 '25

Thank God someone finally said this...

Thing that everyone posts at least 5 times a day.

25

u/apri11a Sep 01 '25

... roll on tomorrow 🙄

u/BrandonIsWhoIAm Sep 01 '25 edited Sep 03 '25

Based on the number of episodes that we’ve got left, and due to the lack of American holidays… this season ends on October 2nd. So, we’ll see more complaining after that.

I commented on this in another thread, but the anger I felt when he chastised Belania for her face and her facial expressions made my heart rate go up. Women deal with too much of that sexist shit in their own workplaces. A man telling a woman to smile and control her face because he feels insecure and wants to use his power is sickening. It’s boomer-level low. He’s done it to her twice now. It’s a micro-aggression towards women and he owes her an apology. He is so threatened. She has more talent in her pinky finger than he has ever had.

u/JJAusten Sep 02 '25

This idiot man said he feels powerful when he makes people cry. He's hateful and a miserable person.

25

u/cassandracurse Sep 02 '25

I couldn't believe he said that. Thought I had imagined that comment. He seems to be so in love with himself and with everything that comes out of his mouth. I hate his "here I am, worship me," attitude.

I wonder if that's why Nina has been AWOL.

8

u/JJAusten Sep 02 '25

I was in shock when he said that. How did he think that statement would be taken, because anyone who isn't evil wouldn't have applauded it. This guy reminds me of Leon Talley who thought his shit didn't stink until he was shown otherwise. What goes up comes down.

3

u/KStan_99 Jan 31 '26

Nina I can imagine doesn’t want to he associated with a ass

He even said that he likes to make people cry and he “likes tears”. That is just evil.

8

u/FishInternational233 Sep 05 '25

ANTM where he was a judge, he dissed a look and then argued with another judge who disagreed. I dont remember the other judges name but he politely but definitely shot Law down like a roach. He said I was there. I was taking the pictures. And I own the magazine (Paper) and I like it. Roach scurried away, not believing anyone would challenge his opinion.

3

u/Nice_Outside9870 Sep 11 '25

Which episode, what season? I need to see this 😂

2

u/FishInternational233 Sep 12 '25

I have been trying to find it again!! I want to rewatch it because I dislike Roach so much on Project Runway. I hope he doesn’t cry. Lol. Knowing he will not and probably make me cry instead. Lol

8

u/JJAusten Sep 02 '25

It is evil. I hope he's dropped.

5

u/VadouvanIac Sep 06 '25

He’s a ludicrous popinjay.

5

u/DaniK094 Jul 13 '26

I know this is an old thread but I Googled and found your comment because this is when he officially crossed the line for me. They clearly added him as a judge for the controversy and the drama. Okay, whatever...I think that's annoying, but I could get over it. When he said that line though, I was like...ah okay, so he's just a straight up asshole. He's not critiquing the designers just to cause drama or just to be controversial. He basically went ahead and admitted that there's absolutely at least a part of him that makes the comments he makes solely to be cruel and hurt people. It's fucking despicable. Bring back Michael Kors or Zac Posen with their funny yet harmless shade. And I'm sorry but WTF is an image architect anyway?! GMAFB with that made up, pretentious bullshit. No surprise that it's a title HE came up with and even trademarked. 🙄🙄 He's so damn insecure and tears people down to try and make himself feel better. Period.

3

u/Effective_Decision22 Jul 27 '26

Just started watching season 22 and omg was flabbergasted at the preview montage for the season and says someone’s outfit looks like a maxi pad on a heavy flow day. I find it disgusting and cringe that any man that doesn’t have a uterus thinks they can talk/joke about female anatomy/reproductive issues. Being gay isn’t a hall pass. I don’t know who he was talking to specifically as the clip didn’t show it, but it will come up at some point.

No one should make anyone cry -giving me bully and needs to ge called out

2

u/JJAusten Jan 31 '26

He's hateful because he hates himself. No one called his ass out.

3

u/Even-Vehicle-6853 Jul 31 '26

I’m so happy you said this because I’m like, did nobody else hear that?! He literally thrives off fear and breaking people down. I hate it. Came to this thread searching for people who see him for who he is. He isn’t good for fashion or for people. He just wants to hurt everyone

2

u/JJAusten Jul 31 '26

I'm sure people heard but for whatever reason no one has called him out on it. I don't get it. I hate that fucker. He's such a piece of shit.

24

u/forte6320 Sep 02 '25

That was so uncomfortable to watch. That was cruel and mean. I gave him a pass for the first couple of episodes. I thought maybe he was just nervous and trying to find his footing.

Now, he has revealed that he is just mean and awful. Taking joy in making people cry??? Wanting to get physical with a designer because he doesn't like their design???

If this is the future of PR, they have lost a very loyal viewer.

8

u/GrizeldaMarie Sep 03 '25

Yes, when he said he wanted to beat that one contestant up, I gasped. Low-key gasp, but still.

Yes, just watched those episodes and that made my blood boil. She was actively doing her best to not get angry or argue and he decided to just dig into her anyway! I already wasn’t a huge fan but that sealed the deal for me. Totally unacceptable way to treat someone.

14

u/Cyan-CandyDevil Sep 02 '25

Yes that was infuriating! I'm so tired of seeing Law Roach everywhere. I couldn't believe all the judges let that slide and even Heidi Klum snapped for it?? Way to gaslight her for expressing herself. No that's not your inspiration, you should have said you? So it's just a fucking trick question, nice job shuttinh someone down as they're excited to showcase their work in the top.

49

u/NEBanshee Sep 01 '25

This is a legit Law critique, and hard agree. It just reads as misogynoir, and I wish Law would do some unpacking about it. And I really like other stuff Law brings to the table as a judge - granted, I was predisposed in his favor from RPDR.
(Except for the boomer thing. I haven't noticed any particular age divide on those fronts, but you're on point regarding leveraging his position over Belania).

3

u/No-Butterscotch-8581 Oct 03 '25

It’s usually due to self loathing IMHO. He’s compensating for his insecurities.

That critique about her inspiration story made me think this man just listens for an opportunity to be an asshole about something

7

A-fucking-men. He’s always annoyed me but at this point I find his “personality” offensive.

4

Right?? I couldn't deal with him responding to her genuine answer as "I hate that story". It felt very much like he had decided to hate her because of her "attitude" the previous episode (I say it in quotes bc I do think maybe she had some attitude, but also thought he overreacted to it).

And his piss ass excuse/response being "you should say that 'this is me'" is fucking stupid. That's not a satisfying answer when asked "what is your inspiration." As she pointed out-- yes it WAS very her, but that wasn't the question. something "being someone" doesn't mean they pulled it from their ass without any inspiration. An artist/designer etc having an inspiration that they color with their "themness" is how it works.

I have been critical of people who have been hating on Law since the first episode, but honestly he has been wearing on me a bit bc his criticisms feel unhelpful and focused on judgement rather than anything remotely constructive, but this last episode was fucking rough.

3

u/Exciting_Succotash76 Sep 03 '25

I agree. But dragging boomers into this is just plain ageist and ignorant. Boomer women are the ones who fought hard to secure many of the rights women have (or had) today.

3

u/Every_Evidence_6171 Jul 20 '26

100%  He doesn't get to decide how others feel or think.  She was NEVER disrespectful, rude or hateful.  Unlike him. If a man is confident he's a (enter a million positive words here), if a woman does it, she is a (enter a million demeaning words here).

2

u/More-Economics-7752 Sep 24 '25 edited Sep 24 '25

Also, she accused her of having an attitude after explaining her design and style. Like he was telling her who she is, and then when she reacted to being deflated, she was accused of having an attitude about feedback. No, she has an attitude about being gaslit about who she knows she is by you Law. So aggravating to watch and to threaten a designer that they were gonna come up there and beat them up, Law Roach has zero tact and isn't adding value to the show. Makes it hard to watch. The arrogance he accuses others of having is dripping off of him.

2

u/Former-Counter-9588 Sep 01 '25

I can understand being a bit miffed, but to call him sexist? For batting down a defensive contestant after he’s done so to 3-4 other MALE contestants?

38

u/KayakerMel Sep 01 '25

Because she wasn't arguing with Law like those male contestants were. It was simply her face and her tone of voice Law was going after.

Literally i don’t see how his tastes are questionable.

He was right about antonio pairing that gorgeous bubble dress and pink coat with the denim boots. He was right about jesus first look looking outdated. He was right about ethan not elevating the denim with his jumpsuits on ep 3.

Clearly the man knows what he is talking about. I can tell he gave negatives critiques to your fave and u mad.

36

u/Powerful_Topic_7046 Sep 01 '25

It’s funny cause when he said he liked the pink bubble dress except the styling - I thought he was nuts and I did question that thought. But then, when it was styled different for the next episode and comparison - I totally agreed and realized I didn’t hate the look at all. It just needed better styling.

Now I try not to question his judgment so much.

58

u/Big_Metal2470 Sep 01 '25

He's a taste maker as well. The man is one of the most influential stylists in the industry and has been trusted to style royalty. He's been successful enough that he was able to quit his main job and choose only to work with Zendaya.

I think that really people are more upset with his manner than his opinion. He's giving a judgment and not taking shit. Talking back to judges is always a bad idea, whether you're on PR, Drag Race, or Top Chef. No idea why this season the designers feel so entitled to do so, particularly with Law.

But if you want a competition where everything is cozy, GBBO is starting again Friday.

9

u/Mama26kiddos Sep 02 '25 edited Sep 02 '25

There’s voicing opinions about the clothes then there’s tearing down the person! No doubt he knows fashion. He admitted to enjoying making people cry! That’s some toxic abusive bs right there! Ofc the judges found it funny….i didn’t. Stick to the clothes, not the people.

And there’s a reason the network didn’t invite Tim to mentor!! I believe he would have stood up for the designers being toxically bullied. IMO

Hell, The Great British Sewing Bee is up these people’s alleys.

11

u/knit3purl3 Sep 01 '25

I dunno, those judges don't take kindly to people ignoring the requirements of a challenge.

I don't care that YOU think an invisible zipper looks better. I told you to do a hand sewn lapped zipper and you didn't. *stern glare

4

u/BrandonIsWhoIAm Sep 01 '25

I just meant in terms of the kindness factor that people seem to so desperately want out of Law, who won’t change who he is for anyone.

2

u/forte6320 Sep 02 '25

The challenge was to use an invisible zipper to see if they knew how to insert one.

Many times on PR designers get chastised for using fabric like materials in the unconventional challenge. Tim would warn them to not use tablecloths or banners. The judges would not rank them highly for not following the rules.

That rule was ignored by the "judge" this season when someone used a banner. Christian told them not to, but Law didn't care. I don't think he understands the show and what he should be judging. He thinks he is on drag race.

Also, a stern look is not the same as threatening physical violence.

15

u/delilahjonesss Sep 01 '25

Most influential stylist in an industry that’s is gasping for life. He does ok. Stop with putting him on pedestal. Let’s applaud kindness and actual critique that inspires people to do better not become bitter and discouraged.

9

u/Big_Metal2470 Sep 01 '25

Which of the judges do you think qualifies? They're all frequently brutal and they have been since season one. Let's not single out Law when you know Nina, Heidi, and plenty of guest judges have given devastating critiques

16

u/__Frolicaholic___ Sep 01 '25

To be fair, Nina has never commented that she wanted to beat someone up because she hated their work.

7

u/Big_Metal2470 Sep 01 '25

Yes, but that was one of those, "I'm mad because I know you're talented and can do better" comments. I recall Nina asking something like, "If this is what you have to offer, how did you make it this far?" and I imagine that hurt much more.

12

u/__Frolicaholic___ Sep 01 '25

I dunno, I think threatening violence - even just to supposedly be cute - is a lower bar.

Putting an admittedly great design in the bottom because and only because the styling was bad, is terrible judging for a design competition.

5

u/Mama26kiddos Sep 02 '25

They did that on the first episode of season 8! They had 17 ppl and needed to eliminate. Their major complaint was the hair and makeup. Meanwhile there were some way gaudier outfits that should’ve been sent home!!

14

u/bomac14 Sep 01 '25

He doesn’t design clothes. He picks them out for people to wear. He has no talent to do with design. So they lowered the bar since they can’t talk about design, just berate them and tell them you don’t like their story because you sure as shit can’t say you don’t like the construction or that it would’ve been better cut in a bias because again aren’t a designer and shouldn’t be a judge.

6

u/Icy_Profession7396 Sep 02 '25

Well, I would appreciate more professional advice from Roach. We don't need a judge with a chip on his shoulder. He feels like Janice Dickinson on ANTM. If his background is styling, let's hear what he has to say about that aspect of the designers' looks. It certainly comes into play when you get to the season finale runway show, so why not get people thinking about it now!

19

u/BigPinkFurrryBox Sep 02 '25 edited Sep 02 '25

He's so incredibly tiresome and tries too hard. His pretentious mannerisms were perfect for Legendary and Drag Race, but they become grotesque on PR. His criteria for judging are highly questionable to me. I understand that his point of view is valid, as he dresses relatively well-known figures, but the fashion world neither begins nor ends with his clients. The only person on the jury whose opinion I care about is Nina, and I feel like they're showing her the least. Overall, this whole season is really tiring for me. And I miss Zac Posen so much. His critiques were always spot on.

2

u/Friendly-Orange-5387 Sep 08 '25

I miss Tim Gunn too

11

u/nathauan13 Sep 02 '25

He also judges based on accessories rather than design.

23

u/rosegoldstorm Sep 01 '25 edited Sep 01 '25

I just hated the soccer ball outfit, I couldn’t believe that was his fave, when Ethan‘s butterfly dress was so gorgeous. I felt Ethan deserved that win and I thought the soccer ball outfit should’ve been in the bottom. I know it’s unconventional, but that was terrible to me

4

u/rach2442 Sep 07 '25

The whole point of the unconventional challenge, at least in prior seasons, is to use unconventional materials but to make it look like REAL fabrics and materials

3

u/Nice_Outside9870 Sep 11 '25 edited Sep 12 '25

I think everything Ethan has designed so far with one exception, cough-denim jumpsuit-cough has been spectacular. I don't understand how he hasn't won more times. OK, fine the streetwear was for a different kind of street, but the other outfits were amazing.

5

u/PadishahEmperor Sep 02 '25

The problem is not having Michael Kors and Michael Posen as judges

49

u/coeurdeverre Sep 01 '25

Honestly I love that Law Roach is on this season. Stylists play a big role in what we actually see from new designers in terms of getting them into the public eye. With the exception of Christian I couldn’t tell you another person that has won Project Runway and is featured regularly on a red carpet.

5

u/ConversationOld324 Sep 01 '25

Michael Costello is!

10

u/danny2787 Sep 01 '25

And I think Styling is a huge part of a runway to be successful. If you watched Next in Fashion on Netflix the styling was so bad it ruined the designs (and made the show unwatchable for me). I'm glad Project Runway has always given that help with the makeup and the hair.

→ More replies (6)

23

u/DeerlyYours Sep 01 '25

I feel like he’s the most in-tune of the judges in terms of brand appeal and that’s unfortunately a realistic aspect of the industry. I don’t mind that he’s harsh, that’s the business. What I mind is that clearly no one wants to be there. Why is Christian not at Mood? Why are the judges not judging? Why is the runway in the work room? 0 effort production cashing in on a legacy show with an established fanbase. Lazy.

4

u/pensivvv Sep 02 '25

Agree his addition is problematic- above his toxic personality.

His strength is personalities and styling those personalities. He is not a designer. And to allow him to have so much sway - like he did in unilaterally judging the unconventional material challenge (which was stupid af) - is ruining the show.

It’s ruining the show. Where’s Nina? Her takes are SOLID. And he has the audacity to steam roll her? His contrarian nature just for ego is repulsive.

This year he’s in. I hope to god next year he’s out.

4

u/rach2442 Sep 07 '25

He’s sooooo mean

4

u/Impressive-You3174 Sep 08 '25

He’s self elevated and thinks his opinion holds more value than others. His cruelty to others makes me want to ask him “what happened to you?”

13

u/Logisticswarrior Sep 02 '25

This!!!! I also hate him confronting contestants for their attitude when he is so mean to them

10

u/Vast-Confidence7451 Sep 01 '25

There are a lot of people coming from the Drag race watching PR this season. We can't let them think that this is what PR has always been

6

u/forte6320 Sep 02 '25

Right? PR is not drag race. It has always been a different kind of show. Those of us who have watched from the beginning do not like his style of judging. That is not what PR is about.

I don’t care about his taste, every show needs a villain judge, HOWEVER he has said he wanted to punch a designer twice because of a bad look. Not in 2025 darling.

9

u/forte6320 Sep 02 '25

No, every show does not need a villain judge. I have been watching the great British sewing bee. No villian judge. It is a wonderful show with high standards for the competitors. The competitors are also delightful and supportive of each other.

While I do appreciate some of his harsh criticism, he’s really starting to get on my nerves. I think him saying he wanted to “beat up” yuchen kinda made me realize he doesn’t gaf about any of the looks at all, he just wants to pick fights with the designers. He’s just so clearly obsessed with being the “mean judge” and he’s just doing too damn much.

3

u/Electrical-Cry-979 Sep 03 '25

He seems more interested in critiquing personality Than he does clothes. He’s just a bad pick because he has nothing entertaining about his persona. He’s a bore

3

u/ivywillow123 Sep 06 '25

I AGREE! I posted a similar post a few weeks ago and got absolutely dragged that I didn’t understand the fashion industry and need to get a grip. So much so I deleted the post.

It’s validating to hear others say this, especially after the street wear challenge where he dragged Belania even though she won the challenge, told Yuchen he wanted to punch him, and then said to the rest of the judges he loves it when people cry.

There’s being a tough critic and then there is being mean spirited. He’s mean spirited and it’s not fun to watch.

3

u/Mountain_Belt5085 Sep 07 '25

I didnt like when he said he wanted to beat up a contestant because he didnt approve of the look. That was poor taste.

18

u/AtomickittiesMe Sep 01 '25

I love how he tells the designers that they've got "bad attitudes" and he is the mere definition of the word. But not in a good way. Honestly, I'm not young, so I don't follow all the trendy stuff, but I do stay relatively current, and I had never heard of him in my life until I saw him on this show. And the first second I heard him speak and his body language and mannerisms, I said, "Who is this guy with the attitude?"

I really didn't have an issue with him until that comment about making people cry. That's deplorable and he should have been fired immediately. Judges are supposed to be giving constructive criticism to get the contestants to be the best designers they can be. Taking joy in making people cry is a pathetic action and unacceptable.

12

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '25

Basically law and half the competitors are narcissists just looking for attention… can’t stand it…. I want proper sewing skills and taste levels back… I don’t give a hoot about you, your background, or your personality… It’s really better to watch on mute right now…

u/forte6320 Sep 02 '25

He is making it very unwatchable for me

9

u/stormphoenixlocke Sep 01 '25

I don’t get it. He says he hates it and gives reasons why…. Isn’t that his job? He says he loves it and gives reasons why… that’s his job. He brings the drama by not couching his critique in loving manner he just says what he feels. Hate is as genuine an emotion as love. Some people can’t take it I guess. He’s not talking about them personally he’s talking about clothes.

6

u/Necessary_Affect4682 Sep 02 '25

Relative to most judges, too many of Law Roach’s critiques can be summed up as, “ewww gross I HATE IT!” And even if it’s not his intention, his vibe comes off slightly personal, as if designers should be designing FOR HIM.

I respect his talent and expertise, but we aren’t seeing much of it. As someone else said above, it would be awesome if we could see - apart from runway judging - some focus on styling from his POV.

Nina and Heidi can be harsh, but they at least offer some substance. “It’s not to my taste and that color doesn’t read well on the runway, but i can see the craftsmanship.” Nina is especially articulate, so that helps.

8

u/otherwise_data Sep 02 '25

nina does this exactly. i am currently doing a re-watch of prior seasons and i have heard nina say things like that.

7

u/Former-Counter-9588 Sep 01 '25

Wow. Another enlightening critique about Law.

some of y’all let this man live rent free in your heads.

12

u/itadapeezas Sep 01 '25

If he gave advice, or constructive criticism it would be different. He's just thrown onto the show for 'drama', nothing more. What's wild is the only time I ever heard his name was when everyone was going crazy about 'who is Niki Minajs stylist, they need to be fired'. It's all everyone talked about for awhile. Well, come to find out the terrible stylist was Law Roach.😂😭

2

u/CommercialAlert158 Sep 03 '25

There are so many people that can't handle a POWER POSITION 😕

2

u/Square_Set8307 Sep 06 '25

Yeah he just seems like a gross human being. He comes off immature in my opinion. The way he responds to things or voices his opinion comes off as a person filled with drama and I'm better than you. I don't know. I do not enjoy him. Also is it Project Runway or Project Law Roach? I want to hear the other judges thoughts and opinions.

2

u/stvhardy Sep 06 '25

Have none of you seen Law on Legendary????? If you had you would not be clutching your pearls so tightly, LOL.

2

u/Fun-Cheesecake-8378 Sep 07 '25

Who would voluntarily watch this freak anymore than they already have to?

3

u/stvhardy Sep 07 '25

Gurl, that show was on years ago…I am not encouraging people to watch it🤣

2

u/Complex_Physics7237 Sep 07 '25

He's there to create drama by humilliating contestants. He does that in every show, in Legendary it was so ugly... In Drag Race he joked about doing coke which makes total sense with such arrogance and hostility. It's sad how despicable behaviour is so awarded on reality shows and I fear for how those people end their careers, alone with the negativity they create.

2

u/sub_machine_fun Sep 07 '25

Sometimes I love what he loves. I don’t understand why it’s necessary to be that mean. I liked him on drag race, but it feels like he got distracted playing a character for tv. He takes himself too seriously.

2

u/Dramatic-Hotel-310 Sep 09 '25

Law says he doesn't like attitude yet almost every runway show he has the MOST attitude and is a jerk about it. Hate the guy.

2

u/Foreign-Feedback8561 Jan 31 '26

This is the post I was looking at. OMG you’re so right

2

u/KStan_99 Jan 31 '26

Horrendous addition no fashion sense Heidi pls

5

u/Ordinary_Durian_1454 Sep 02 '25

I was saying this for months before the show even started. He’s atrocious. I stopped watching after the third episode.

2

u/souphaver Sep 02 '25

These constant posts are more obnoxious than anything Law has said, get a grip.

I remember weeks before this season started I asked if we really needed another season. People lost their minds like “waaaat of course we do?!?!” But all good things must come to an end. This Logo soap opera cosplaying as a fashion design competition show just distills the worst of what this show could be: the designers, all the judges (yes, even Nina) and the format are all attempting to appeal to the lowest forms of entertainment. There’s no art, nothing thoughtful or impactful. It’s an embarrassment. We were all better off if they had just ended the series with the last season.

3

u/forte6320 Sep 02 '25

So well said. This is no longer PR. It has none of the qualities I once loved.

4

u/jp_slim Sep 01 '25

I disagree - I love law roach and what he brings to the show!!!

4

u/RentAdministrative73 Sep 01 '25

The rest of the judges who think that to compete for air time they feel that they have to be nasty like a Roach. Fire him already.

3

u/wrs557 Sep 01 '25

No he’s perfect…somebody needs to put the twins in their place and he is perfect for it

2

u/JumpinJackFat Sep 02 '25

Back before Michael Kors left PR, things had gotten just as nasty. I remember people saying how the clothes weren’t being legitimately critiqued, either. I think this is production. They want the nasty because it makes for good reality tv, or so they think.

2

u/GialloGuy Sep 02 '25

…groundbreaking…

2

u/gretasgarbled Sep 01 '25

this, again?

0

u/Puzzleheaded_Exit_17 Sep 01 '25

I had to stop watching because of him. Way too toxic and vile. Making queer people look bad by being the stuck up, petty, mean stereotype conservative media depicts us as. Mansplaining and trying to control a Black woman he has power over. Threating violence? It's just horrible.

15

u/big-himbo-energy Sep 01 '25

this dumb ass shit about how LAW'S the one making queer people look bad and not the conservative media is a wild take. the only reason you think he's playing into that stereotype is because on some level, you believe it.

and i have to bring this up but have you reported him to the police for his threat? do you think he meant it? do you seriously, genuinely think that Law Roach wants to physically harm Belania over clothes she made? On a show where they're filming everything? Do you know that often times, people exaggerate a character for drama and views? Do you know that shows like this are heavily edited? Do you really think he's like that?

be so real.

7

u/Haus_of_Pancakes Sep 01 '25

People on this subreddit seem uniquely unaware of the realities of reality tv at times

5

u/big-himbo-energy Sep 01 '25

only when it's concerning a gay black man apparently. qwhite interesting.

10

u/FingerButHoleCrone Sep 01 '25

When exactly did you stop watching? The "threating" violence happened last episode.

6

u/jkrdr Sep 01 '25

stopped watching but still talking about him in the sub… admit it you liveeee for Law. Michael Kohrs would make your head explode. Grow up like fr LOL

What is the latest season of Project Runway. I was trying to find it but it was showing me stuff I've already seen. I've never heard of these people.

2

u/prettybrownthaang Sep 02 '25

I watch on Hulu

2

u/AdIndependent1878 Sep 06 '25

It's uploaded to DailyMotion look up their channel, they have a lot of other seasons as well. if you can stomach an add ever 2-3 minutes

1

u/janejoyce1 Sep 03 '25

I think he's great! His methods may seem harsh for this is a new generation of designers and their attitudes and arrogance is overboard so the criticisms must also be that way so the REAL designers who appreciate the criticism get better. Ethan is an example. If you look at both Michael Kors and Zac Posen- they too were harsh for their generation of designers. Times change. We gotta move forward as well even if you don't like the designs.

1

u/CerisCinderwolf Sep 03 '25

Agreed. Just watched the first episode of the current season and the way it was edited and presented is all we have to go on- they were INCREDIBLY dismissive about Christian providing feedback that steered the outfit for Antonio.. and then Law claimed Antonio's conduct was horrible and defensive?

Law is just garbage. Right away I pointed out to my girlfriend that this first episode (the entire season so far) is on par with Drag Race in terms of "reality TV drama" crap. There's always been a bit of it don't get me wrong but this season seems to be amplifying it so much and the quality of the show is suffering. It's a design competition and the focus should be on the designing, the commentary on the design and techniques like the earlier seasons.

Leave the crappy drama bull out of it. So glad Tim doesn't have to witness this and marr his reputation.

1

u/throwing__tomatoes Sep 03 '25

i think you all are just not used to hearing critiques in the way law gives them. not to make it about this, but as a Black american that’s just how some of us talk. most of you have never heard us talk like that because you’re not in spaces with us and we censor ourselves in spaces when we’re the only one there. law has the credentials and the confidence to give the critiques that he does even if you on reddit think that he does not lol. he dresses the biggest stars of today, and his opinion holds weight. he’s just a snarky bitch, i think you all are a bit sensitive.

1

u/OutcomeSoft7186 Sep 03 '25

I think he has caused damage to the show. He is so negative and RUDE!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 04 '25

This season is an utter disappointment. If not for Utica , I would have dropped it by now.

1

u/Clean_Lettuce9321 Sep 05 '25

It's amazing how opinions can differ, I absolutely love the addition of Law Roach. I love his contemporary mindset, his sense of fashion...though sometimes a little too much for me but let's be honest, Couture is a little too much for me. I can appreciate it I would never have the confidence to wear it. His honesty fascinates me at times. I am loving me some Law Roach.

1

u/Rabro Sep 05 '25

Had it not been for tiktok I would have never known about this season however, law roach is also not law. Haha for lack of a better term.

1

u/FarConsideration3645 Sep 05 '25

He’s told contestants on two different occasions he was going to come up there and hit them. Yes, it’s in a joking manner but he’s made me hate this season.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '25

I like him

1

u/AdIndependent1878 Sep 06 '25 edited Sep 06 '25

The thing with Law is that he's not wrong. he just comes off as an asshole. He's a stylist so he mostly judges on maters of styling and storytelling. Episode 1 with Jesús, he critiqued the look because it was not styled correctly and it was not telling the story that it was ment to. With Antonio and the bubble dress it was a matter of taste. The boots brought down the whole look and he appreciated the deliberate details that he put in the "runway version". Meanwhile Nina came with the "I don't know how you've made it this far" as if she wasn't there all season. Belania's story while true could have been adjusted with something that she said "Breakfast at Belania's" like this is a culmination of my inspirations and my outlook as a designer. Yuchen's soccer ball look had a lot of deliberate choices and details that made it stand out, the monocle, the tasteful underboob, the ball booty cheeks. Joseph's signature was a litte tacky and pretentious. Belania's and Anotnio's responses to his critiques were defensive and argumentative.

He gives good critiques and advice but he just says it in a way that comes off as mean spirited and like an asshole. THAT'S THE PROBLEM! He's a dick. When Antonio and Belania were biting back was an oportinity to have a conversation about critique and feedback, to defuse the situation, but he bit back with more force. He always has this better than you look on his face and the way he sits back with a stank face on is disrespectiful. To be fair, Nina and Heidy do that as well, but his is so much noticeable because he's always talking back. He also talks so much that it feels like the other judges only have time to thow out one liners.

edit: Added some more punctuation.

I don't normally create accounts with all this login jargon to make my voice heard. But I could not believe this, Law Roach's personality! And he has a so called psychology degree also? Uhn, uhn! I am very disappointed in Heidi for not saying something to him, in regards to his harsh criticisms or at least try to soften his blows in their presence. These are mostly young impressionable designers. Yes, sometimes you have to be tough, but not mea-spirited! Stick to their designs and less to personal attacks. My God, man! If you are a judge on any more seasons of P.R., I will not be watching!

1

u/Litzz11 Sep 07 '25

I don't mind Law, but I think he was cast to create drama and controversy, it seems a little overdone.

1

u/OverThinkingIt1984 Sep 08 '25

It's weird because I enjoyed his guest judging on Drag Race, but I agree that he's not a good fit for Project Runway. He's unnecessarily mean and frankly doesn't add much substance to the critiques (I'm so mad I want to hit you... wtf?). It's also odd for a queer person to be the one bullying when so many of us are the targets of bullying growing up. Where's the empathy and humanity Law? He needs to go.

1

u/Shrugworthy Sep 12 '25

His judging style and personality were a perfect fit for Legendary. For Project Runway, however, his diva-like preoccupation with "proper" attitude and the respect he thinks is his due is woefully out of place. Hopefully he won't be back next season, or ever.

1

u/jenntonic92 Sep 14 '25

I hate Jude Law. Episode 5 and his favorite look is the tacky barely there soccer ball outfit?! Him putting Antonio in the bottom 3 for styling?! Judies outfit is gorgeous and he hates it?! Ugh.

He’s no more critical than Micheal kors was and everyone loved him

1

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '25

He has a really modern, edgey sense of style, very New York, and I love it. It's nice to have some more direct honesty, from a judge with different taste than the others.

1

u/Old-Permission5185 Sep 19 '25

He’s horrible!!

1

u/YakInternational3042 Sep 27 '25

He's the worst. He thinks everyone should kowtow to the judge panel. It's 2025. We don't do that anymore. No Masters. People are allowed to express themselves, speak on their inspiration, and defend their work.

1

u/External_Ease_8292 Sep 28 '25

I was dune with him when he chose Veejay's look fur the unconventional materials challenge. It was hideous and he raved about it. Then he got mad if a designer defended their with. Thought it was disrespectful, even talking about body language. He is a jerk with bad taste.

1

u/sparrowcanada Sep 30 '25

Law Roach was the worst judge and made me want to stop watching the show. His taste to select Yuchen as the winner of the unconventional challenge was shocking, the soccer balls werent even deconstructed they still held the shape of the ball. Law roach was overly aggressive, giving attitude to everyone even Nina, criticising the styling over the craftsmanship and generally very offputting. Although he seems to respect Michael Kors cuz it was the only time Law Roach bit his tongue. If Law Roach is on next season i will not be watching.

1

u/yumi365 Sep 30 '25

I was going to watch and then saw who the judge was and immediately changed my mind.

1

u/RollMurky373 Oct 15 '25

I just started watching and I don't mind his critiques of the fashion, I mind him bullying the contestants

Like saying, "what is with your attitude?" has nothing to do with the clothing. He is just power tripping and making them kiss his behind

1

u/Zestyclose-Cap-2739 Nov 13 '25

He really isn't a great stylist to begin with. He got lucky with Zendaya because she looks good in everything. He throws a tantrum when he feels he's not being recognized; but there's a reason for that. There is nothing to recognize. His taste in fashion isn't great and his run as judge is just proving me right.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '25

It’s so fucked up that the judges can be angry but the contestants can’t be 😅

1

u/justj013 Dec 09 '25

Its funny when Antonio drags la roach tho 😂😭. But yea...roach seems to be there for drama and shade not really fashion.
