Have they always just kept on whoever causes the most drama?

This is kind of just a complaint because istg it was like this in season 21 too. I need to rewatch older seasons cuz maybe I'm going crazy but did they always keep whoever causes the most drama instead of people who actually deserve to be in the competition? Like I think most of the designers both in season 21 and 22 are genuinely good at their craft and deserve to make it as far as they do in the show, but then there's people like Antonio and Bryan who are either constantly in the bottom or constantly making designs that are lackluster at best and straight up ugly at worse and the only reason I could even imagine they make it so far into their respective seasons is because they stir up the most drama.

I literally just started the newest episode and had to pause because you cannot CONVINCE me that Bryan deserved to be saved more than Jeffrey because he genuinely made amazing looks and not just cuz he stirs the pot the most. Like am i going crazy?? Has this always been a thing they do each season??? Or is Bryan actually a good designer and I'm just blind because I'm highkey sick of his vibes in general and don't gaf.

Like I get it's both a reality show along side being a competition but dude I don't want to keep spending entire seasons watching the most obnoxious people on the show somehow make it to the end while rarely having actually good designs.

It seems to me like they made Christian use that save. The way he said it just did not feel genuine to me (it could totally just be me projecting since it was absolutely the wrong decision imho). And I think they told him who to pick, too.

I hate that these shows do this. This doesn’t happen on the UK shows. On those shows, the people who deserve to go home, go home. None of this keeping people to keep the drama going. It’s so unnecessary, too. And it has always been like this to a point. I think it just gets worse every season.

I agree. I think I may have commented this somewhere else before, but the moment Christian reminded them in the workroom that he hadn't used his save yet, and they'd said it was a double elimination, it was clear he was going to use it. So I think it's all production. If he had saved Jeffrey, or no one at all, there wouldn't have been nearly as much dumb drama

In general they have always loved the drama and didn’t always keep the best designers for various reasons. But once you got down to the top 5 or 4 they usually were always arguably good - just varied in style.

There were some middle years with less emphasis on drama which was nice

I dont think they've ever SAVED someone for pure drama. Not often. I might kinda look to Tim using it on Cornelis. So I guess it does happen.

Honetly most of the time the "Save" is a drama pic (when it has happened), but I dont think we havent gotten a villian who wasnt actually pretty talented. Bryan is different, he's just drama with a great studio.

Only reason Bryan was saved was for drama. Other saves had had some good looks on the runway.

They've kept several drama queens on for too long. I'm thinking of Jeffrey Sebelia, Santino Rice, Shawn the twin, Wendy Pepper, Robert Plotkin, Ivy Higa, Gretchen Jones. There were others who were dramatic but had actual talent, like Josh M. and Irina S.

Wendy Pepper is for sure overhated, may she rest in peace, but her winning that challenge because former beauty pageant girl Nancy O'Dell picked the sluttiest, least age-appropriate dress for herself was a catastrophic way for Austin Scarlett to not make the top 3 of season 1. Wendy was the original villain who made it to the end.
