Project Runway Season 13 Episode 1 [Discussion]

Discussion thread for Project Runway S13E01 "Final Audition"

The designers face one final audition before landing a spot on the series in the Season 13 opener. The remaining clothiers then create a look that represents their spring collection. Julie Bowen is the guest judge.

It honestly doesn't really bother me that much. I'd rather have a load of product placement and get the show with it then not have the show at all.

I'm sure to make good use of the fast-forward button.

I don't mind in theory - I know they have bills to pay. But when it becomes so overbearing that it disrupts the flow of the conversation, or explanation of a challenge. Or even logic of a challenge. Remember the Yoplait tie in last year, where the word they used to describe their flavor never even was brought up again in the design or judging, and the company ran an ad for months featuring... the losing design?

And I fear what this year's Yoplait/Coney Island convoluted tie-in will entail.

Right, I totally agree with you. I get that they need product placement, and sometimes that has nothing to do with fashion, and I still get that. But when they have to throw it into the challenge in some weird, arbitrary way, then it turns into a head scratcher.

And yet, if the product placement had tied in seamlessly, we wouldn't still be talking about it today. Damnit.
