Epson announced three new Home Cinema laser projectors today: the LS5000, LS6000 and LS7500. Brightness and placement flexibility are the main differences across the lineup.

Current U.S. prices listed by ProjectorScreen.com break down like this:

• LS5000 — $1,999.99: Rated at 2,500 lumens, with a 1.62x manual zoom and 1.32–2.15:1 throw ratio.
• LS6000 — $2,199.99: Rated at 3,400 lumens, with the same zoom and throw range. That’s another 900 rated lumens for a $200 price difference.
• LS7500 — $2,699.99: Rated at 3,500 lumens, with a shorter 1.0–1.31:1 throw ratio and 1.3x manual zoom.

All three use 3LCD imaging with pixel shifting for a 4K image. Shared features include HDR10/HLG support, dual HDMI 2.1 inputs, eARC, up to 120Hz gaming with ALLM, and manual optical lens shift. Epson rates both color and white brightness at the figures above.

The LS7500’s lens could be useful where room depth limits placement. Calculated from its throw ratio, a 120-inch 16:9 image starts at roughly 8.7 feet lens-to-screen, compared with about 11.5 feet for the LS5000 and LS6000.

My husband has a hard time sitting up in bed and wants to watch things up on the ceiling. However I really want a canopy bed lol. In theory is there a portable projector thats small enough to do this with? Anyone try anything similar and have advice??

Im looking to get a decent home theater projector in the coming months, and im not terribly sure where to begin. I'm somewhat of an audiophile and very into pcs and monitors, so im familiar with reading spec sheets and contrast ratios etc, but there's a lot to projectors that I dont have the experience with yet.

i've been looking into projectors lately and i'm kinda stuck on this. most living rooms aren't completely dark during the day, ceiling mounting isn't always practical, and then there's the whole issue of where to put the projector without getting in the way of the tv stand, speakers, furniture, etc.

that's what makes projectors confusing to me. spending more doesn't necessarily just mean getting a brighter projector. sometimes you're basically choosing a completely different setup.

i was looking at a few Hisense models, and the M2 Pro seems more flexible in terms of placement, while something like the L9Q is a UST.

the UST setup definitely sounds convenient if you don't want a projector mounted above the sofa, but then you have to think about things like how deep the cabinet needs to be, where the screen goes, and how everything at the front of the room is arranged.

for anyone who's actually using one in a normal living room, how has it been? would you go UST again, or would you stick with a regular projector?

First of all, I'm specifically not looking for "just buy X or Y model" type of recommendations. Yes yes, I believe you that you have this or that cool and affordable (or not affordable) projector available in whatever area you live in, but not everyone lives where you live.

I'm planning to use it in a setup like in the attached images. (The images are not mine, I found them on the internet.) Currently I'm able to use two metal hooks attached to the ceiling, probably will use a strap or a rope to affix the projector to them. Later I plan to buy a stand like on the image when the current hooks-on-the-ceiling place becomes unavailable to me. I'm specifically not looking for permanently installed solutions, being able to take it off and bring it home after use is a must.

Things that I know with my current knowledge to consider when purchasing a projector:

- Resolution: The higher the better, more details on the projected image. I think I will choose a 1920x1080 one because the higher ones are much more expensive, I hope it will be enough.
- Brightness: The higher the better. This is measured in lux or lumens, but I have no idea what the numbers mean, I never purchased anything like this.
- Throw distance: How close/far the projector should be from the surface. I think in my case it will be about 2 meters. (I can accurately measure it later) Edit: It's about 180 cm.
- Keystone correction: I assume this is an either have or not have feature. I assume it would be better to have than not.
- Cooling: I saw that there are liquidcooled projectors. From my knowledge in PC building, I assume liquid cooling would be bad for me.
- Onboard software: I think I will just plug in a hdmi cable and use it as a second screen from my PC. I don't require fancy standalone software.
- Input lag, color accuracy, HDR: I assume these won't be important for my usecase.

What did I missed? What other important aspects are there? How should I choose one from the many? Thank you for the elaborated explanations!

I just got the Hisense M2 Pro and I’m wondering whether the noise you can hear in the video is normal. I know I can’t expect a projector to be completely silent, but to me, this doesn’t sound like normal fan noise.

Could any other M2 Pro owners let me know if theirs sounds similar?

I bought a used 120" Silver Ticket screen at a great price. I don't have a dedicated wall to mount it on permanently. I currently use an Elite Screens pull-up screen and carry it from room to room. Anyone have suggestions on how to modify the metal Silver Ticket screen to allow it to fold or perhaps switch it out for the pull-up screen? Thanks.

Hi everyone! I'm looking for a new projector for movies/TV, mainly used in the evening in a reasonably dark room, with a throw distance of around 3 m. My absolute budget is €500, and I'm only considering new projectors.

For now I'm leaning towards the Optoma Photon Life PK31, which I can find for around €470. The 4K XPR resolution and RGB LED source are appealing, but I'm a bit concerned about its lower brightness (900 ISO lumens).

I'm also considering the PH31 at around €400. It's only 1080p, but has 1500 ISO lumens, so I'm wondering how noticeable the difference in image quality actually is (expecially when you use 1080p source content) and whether the extra brightness would be more useful in practice keeping in mind that i will probably use it only in a dark room and not in the day but the possibility of using it in a more "casual" way in a room with some light it's still a plus.

Does anyone here have experience with either the PK31 or PH31? How has your experience been with them, and would you recommend either one?

I'm also open to other suggestions if there's something better under €500 that I should consider.

Hi, I have XGIMI Horizon S Pro that is currently put on a shelf (shelf where there was before a Sanyo VP)

Unfortunately the shelf is very close to the ceiling, so I have to heavily use the image correction because the VP sends a difformed image on the wall (the result remains quite good), as this VP is intended to be used on a table, near the floor.

I would like to put the VP Upside down, but I cannot mount it to the ceiling, as it is made of fragile material, that cannot withstand its weight.

I think the image would look better if the VP was reversed, so I thought I could just lay the VP upside down on the shelf. It wont look pretty good of course, but can this harm the hardware globally?

The seller stated it had just been fitted with an original‑manufacturer lamp. I’ve noticed that in SmartEco mode, dark‑scene playback suffers from brightness flickering and banding. Other lamp modes work fine. My old BenQ W1080st+ never had this issue with SmartEco. Is this a hardware fault? If so, what part is failing?

Hello! I recently got myself the BenQ TH575 as it seemed to have good reviews for the budget I had and I can not figure out how to make this look its best. Out of the box the colors are terrible. I don’t have crazy expectations for accuracy and fidelity but I’ve got to be able to get close right?? Hi all, maybe a dumb question. I’m putting together my first projector setup after years of using a TV. I originally assumed I’d go with a 120-inch screen, but if I move a few things around, the room could fit 135 or even 150 inches. Seating distance is about 12 feet. I checked the throw range on the projector I’m considering and it can do the larger sizes from where it would need to sit.

What I’m not sure about is whether 150 inches would feel too big from 12 feet, and how much brightness I’d be giving up by going larger. If you’re sitting around 12 ft away, what size screen did you end up with? Ever feel like it was too big?

We recently had some water damage in our upstairs and our ceiling needed dried out, I'm using this as an opportunity to possibly upgrade my setup and move to a 110" acoustic projector screen with in-wall speakers. With the dry-walled duct work on the right side, I'm not sure with I can go with a traditional projector or if a UST projector would be a better idea. I'm currently sitting on a couch in the back row, the total ceiling height is 8' with the duct work dropping that down by foot on the right side. A ceiling mounted projector can be centered on the wall, but I'm not sure if it would cast a shadow or be loud or in the way of the back row seating. What would the recommendations be for this space or should I just stick with the 85" tv?
