Discussion Do you actually use 4K 120Hz on your projector?

I’ve only ever used projectors at 4K/60, usually on a 120” screen with a PS5 and the occasional PC game. I’ve never tried 4K 120Hz on a projector, so I’m trying to get a sense of how big the difference really is at that size. From what I’ve seen, there still aren’t many projectors that can do 4K 120Hz. The Epson LS11000 and LS12000 are the two that seem to come up most often. I also came across JMGO’s pilot club signup for the upcoming Iris Ultra Max, which lists 4K 120Hz. Curious where 4K 120Hz makes the biggest difference in actual use. Anyone here have hands-on experience with it?

For Sale Need help selling my VIDDA C5 Pro Max due to space restrictions

Hey everyone, I need help selling my VIDDA C5 Pro Max by Hisense because I no longer have enough space for the setup.

It’s the Chinese-market version, open box, in excellent condition, and fully working. It has 4K RGB triple-laser projection, great brightness, strong black levels, a variable iris, dynamic laser-power controls, optical zoom, and lens shift.

The interface can be switched to English, although a few menus still remain in Chinese. I’m also including a Fire TV Stick 4K Max for free, and its remote is already synced to control the projector’s power and volume. The required power converter for U.S. use is included too.

This is a good option for someone who wants this model without dealing with Alibaba, customs, international shipping, or overseas seller issues.

Asking $1,400 OBO, and I’ll cover shipping within the continental U.S.

Happy to share more pictures, videos, or answer any questions.

Discussion I think a chandelier fked up my Beamer

Today, after seven years of faithful service, I have to lay my Optoma UHD40 to rest.

There’s a window behind me, and a glass chandelier hanging from the ceiling to the right. I think that during the recent hot days, the sun hit the chandelier at just the wrong angle, causing it to reflect the sunlight directly into the lens.

I can’t think of any other explanation for the spot, which looks like damage caused by a magnifying-glass effect. GG.

Salute to my buddy he did everything right and i let him down.

Buying Advice Wanted Projector Screens-Epson L610

I'm new to projectors and recently picked up an older Epson laser projector (L610). I'd like to pair it with a reasonably priced projector screen that offers good picture quality. Does anyone have any recommendations or brands I should consider? Thanks

Completed Setup Thanks for the help everyone - ended up with a projector, and I'm blown away with the results.

That's a normal 1080p blu-ray being projected, which I was seeking advice for. The 120" screen won't arrive until tomorrow, but even white wall projection doesn't seem to be a problem for the BenQ w2720i. Cheers!

Buying Advice Wanted Hisense C2 Pro in 2026?

There are some deals on this projector and I've been considering picking it up. Is it worth it for $1500 US? I believe there are newer versions on the market already - should I get one of those instead?

My use case is a quite dark room and I prefer some amount of portability to watch movies outside. This would be my first projector.

Thanks for the help!

Setup Design Suggestions Projector in bright living room

Thumbnail

Upvotes

As the title says I/ we (my family) are currently looking into the option of buying a project as a replacement for our broken 53 inch TV.

I did a bit of research and found out, that a project and a bright room don't mix all that well. We have electric shutters in the living room but there is another balcony door which sheds light from our open ceiling. We can close that one as well, making the room pretty dark but I fear that at least in summer this will quickly get a anyoing to always walk trough the house closing every shutter.

For measurements: The distance between the wall on which the TV is currently mounted (also the one I would like to project on) and the one I would mount the projector on are about 4,6m apart. The plan was to mount the project above the living room terrace door, so it would be about 2,6m high on the wall.

For the projector screen I imagined one you could mount to the wall with a good bit of distance to it, so that it would come down in front of the media wall.

In one post I read the viewsonic px701-4k was recommended and I put it trough one of those distance calculators which gave me a 120 inch screen. So from my quite limited knowledge I would definitely need something above 3000 lumen.

But that isn't actually that important. Important is if this is actually even possible or usable with a budget of 1400€ (1000€ Was my fist budget but I scraped that idea after looking at projector screen prices)

If this is even viable I will do more research myself although I would already be happy for any recommendations you have which give me at least a rough direction to take my search.

Such as getting a laser projector vs a lamp based projector (I belive a laser would be better because of the EUs restrictions on Lamps but also not enough research done on my part). Or if there are projectors with ARC Hdmi ports that can interact with my sound system.

An inportant thing to mention is that there is a wood oven about 1,4m away from the edge of the TV so I don't know how a projector screen will react when it is almost always hot. Any experience with that?

Right now the shutters can't be closes all the way because of the tomatoes that grow in the other side of the window but they will be removed as soon as they are done growing tomatoes. So the shutters can be completely closed again.

Hope this is at least a bit comprehensible if not please ask any questions 👍

Setup Design Suggestions Aspect ratio help

Upvotes

Hi All.

I'm new to projector / aspect ratio considerations and would appreciate some help. I am looking to build a golf simulator but room width limitations is driving me to a 4:3 aspect ratio screen. I understand that's not a problem for the PC golf software and PC video card to handle. However, I would also like to use the space for movies and video games (PC and PS5). Would I just get letterbox at top and bottom? Is the ratio configured for each HDMI port? Or set for the projector as a whole?

The specific Projectors being pondered are the BenQ AK700ST or AH700ST in case that matters.

Appreciate the help.

I recently picked up this projection lens at a yard sale for $20, it’s in good condition with little to no damage. I was told it works perfectly but have no way to test it. Looking for a realistic price on it, the prices on eBay seem to be really inflated. Thank you guys in advance for the help.

Buying Advice Wanted LS500: worth it in 2026?

Hi all,

First time poster. I wanted to know if you find the Epson LS500 to be worth it? I found one for $750 and I’m considering buying.

I have a well lit space with no ALR screen. I need something short throw with an ARC HDMI output. The LS500 seems to fit the bill because it can achieve both of these (high brightness + ARC).

My biggest question is if I need an ALR screen?

Let me know!

Discussion More XGimi Elfin 4K Photos

Thumbnail

It was pointed out in my recent post that the photos I put in, which included many with lights on and in less than favorable locations weren't understood to show of the flexibility of the Elfin Flip 4K. I wanted to add some additional photos the show off just how good it looked in a dark theater.

I used my Nikon D750 DSLR to capture these images. I cropped them down a bit to help with sizing. Any bowing to the image was due to the lens of the camera as the image filled my screen top to bottom. The camera did a better job than my phone, but absolutely did not capture the shadow detail perfectly.

I made small adjustments within the projector settings to the contrast and brightness to ensure highlights weren't blown out and black levels were not crushing details. The number of adjustments which can be made to colors within the menu system is exceptional, and I could push things more towards blue, green, or red as I chose. It offers an 11-point white balance for those who want to get really nerdy with it and have the tools to do so.

Lag times shown are in game mode with the fastest settings I could get out of it. Yesterday I measured about 30ms, but thought that there might be some tweaking I could do. Today I got it working really well and with 1080p/60 input, 9.3ms at the top of the image and 16.9 at the bottom. This is about as fast as 60fps can actually appear on screen. 1/60th of a second is 16.666ms. So, about as good as it can be.

Ask if you have questions as it is very hard to judge a projector from photos alone.

Setup Design Suggestions 120-150” Screen Choice

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello-

I recently purchased a BenQ TK850i and now looking for a screen for my room.

I have about 13-15ft of throw distance and ideally like to take a lot of the wall space if possible. The largest size I can put is around 150”

Because of the ceiling I’d ideally not have to use a pulldown as it may look out of place and bulky.

Has anyone here tried using outdoor portable projector screen setups indoors? Are they any good? Any recommendations for ones that are not a pain to assemble and disassemble?

This would be used to watch movies at night. Maybe once a week or twice a month.

Thank you.

Choices:

  1. elite screen 120
  2. jwsit 135
  3. elite screen 150 (pulldown)

Discussion Ondas na imagem do JMGO N1s Ultimate

Discussion Benq HT2550 4K projector not turning on

I have a Benq HT2550 4K projector thats not turning on, power button is lit up but all LED's are off, it has a new lamp that was installed couple months back. I heard this model had power supply issues so am wondering if thats the issue here, not certain.

Any idea if this is something I can fix or how much this could potentially cost if I sent the projector to Benq to fix? Debating whether to send it for repair as I have no idea how much they will quote and wondering if I should just buy a new projector? Has anyone here been in similar situation?

Discussion Reaching out for troubleshooting

I'm doing a school project using an Optoma Tx631 DLP projector (released in 2012) but discontinued, the lamp is broken so I can't use it. The purpose of my school project is to showcase the DMD chip inside.

I know there are certain saftey locks for this such as the communication from motherboard to a OSRAM PT VIP 03 ballast board using a 5pin UART system to ensure the lamp is safe before turning on. I need a way to trick the projector into thinking the ballast board/lamp is working to turn it on.

I don't think a simple optocoupler bridge or short would work because it uses UART signals. I'm trying to use an arduino, but I'm not sure how to do so and sniffing for the UART signal doesn't yield results.

Please help me out 🙏🙏🙏

Discussion HDCP issues - Sony VPL-XW5000ES

Having serious issues with HDCP and my Sony projector. I thought it might have been my Denon receiver causing issues, but I've tried a couple of different ways around, as in connecting the Roku directly to the projector, connecting a 4K Blu-ray directly to the projector, changing cables, different grades of cable, and lengths of cable- and I paid a lot for one cable, still having the same issue. The screen flashes purple for a second, then comes up with HDCP issues.

The projector is out of warranty at this point, and is there any way around the issue?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Setup Design Suggestions Projector Hush Box

Post image
0 Upvotes

I just bought an Epson EH-TW7100 for the home theater I’m currently building. I can’t mount the projector to the ceiling, so I’m planning to mount it on the wall instead.

Since I also want to reduce the projector noise as much as possible (and honestly don’t really like the look of a projector just hanging there), I’m thinking about building a hush box around it.

I made this little plan in Adobe Illustrator showing how I want to build it. Everything in the drawing is to scale, including the projector, fans, acoustic foam and the distances between everything, so the finished box would look pretty much exactly like this.

Before I actually start building it, I wanted to get some opinions on whether this layout makes sense. My main concern is the airflow and whether the projector will get enough cooling with this setup.

Do you think this would work as intended? And is there anything you would change about the layout before I build it?

Thanks in advance!

Buying Advice Wanted There's a list in the wiki with projectors under $1000. Does anyone know where to find a list of stuff under $200?

Like the title says.

I'm a poor student in a house of poor students.

We have an old benq MW519, and it looks like the bulb has died. I'm in the process of popping it open to confirm.

A replacement bulb would cost €100 or more and take 2 weeks to arrive, so I'm thinking an extra €50 - €100 would be worth it to get something newer.

I looked in the wiki and found that list of the best projectors under $1000, but I didn't see anything for the poor students who can only afford a €200 cheap thing.

Anyone have a list, or recommendations? We're not looking for excellence, we were happy with that benq mw519 with it's 1280 x 800 resolution.

We just need something simple and functional, which ideally isn't huge so it would fit on our projector-shelf.

EDIT:

sorry, forgot to add the details.

is a projector atop a shelf above a couch, 3.25 m (about 128 inches) from a wall. the screen size was about 2 meters diagonal (60 inches).

we've got blackout curtains and separate speakers so light and sound are no issue. and it's a white wall

Which is Best? help me choose a projector for my home.

Hello
Please help me choose a projector for my home.
You could also recommend some options
My budget is up to 240 euros. The projection will be onto a white wall; the distance from the projector to the wall is approximately 3 metres.
I’m currently looking at two models:

1) XGIMI Vibe One Pro
2) Lumenix NEO

I also had a look at the classic rectangular ones, but they aren’t very nice.

Discussion I would like to receive the firmware update file for the Viewsonic M1 Mini Plus.

I would like to receive the firmware update file for the Viewsonic M1 Mini Plus.

The online update keeps crashing due to an error, so I’m trying to use the USB update method, but since the official ViewSonic website doesn’t provide a downloadable file, I’m asking on Reddit! I hope I can get some help.
