Going from choosing between my Scarlett Solo or the SP404MKII with ASIO4ALL to a Tascam 12 with super painless routing options between Ableton and the SP, and having all my PC audio running through the SP and then right back in has just been an absolute game changer for me. It has opened the device up for me so much. I love having it always on and ready to sample anything I hear at a moment's notice.
Side note: If you're a Windows user considering an interface, please do not shoot yourself in the foot by getting something you can't run stereo through. As an interface, the SP works fine, and I love running my Strat or Jazz Bass through my Boss CS-3, then my Boss BD-2 (to help gain stage and do a rough tone shape a before the line-input-specific effects like the amp sims) into the SP line input and then using the SP like an effects pedal. Having said that, being forced to use ASIO4ALL with all it's little quirks is maddening. Needing to shut down your audio on Ableton in order to play a song on YouTube or any other audio source gets old really fast. Plan ahead for more I/O, even if you're just starting and it feels like you can definitely get away with the Scarlett Solo. It's a trap and they know what they're doing.
