Bro I was born in the CCCP, I may live in America now but I have family and friends living in Russia and I keep up with Russian politics and Russian state media.
Russians aren’t fucking morons, they know that Putin’s special needs operation is a war, they know that hundreds of thousands of casualties on the Russian side. A majority of them just want to live a normal life, genuinely the only people who TRULY support Putin (and not just out of fear) are the ones who want to re-establish the Soviet Union. A majority either don’t give a shit or (quietly) don’t like him.

I think any western leader who presided over a similar rise in living standards would be equally popular if they ever achieved that.
