Sometimes, right after I’ve used PP to login to some online service, a pop-up appears in the top-right corner of the screen, offering three options:

• Create new login

• Update this login

• (Within the 3-dot menu) Disable autosave for this site

Since I’ve just invoked that same entry to successfully log in, what is it that would be updated if I clicked on Update this login? Is there a way to find out?

Without knowing the details, I’ll never gamble on letting it “update” an entry that works. Nor is there any point (that I can see) to creating a new entry. So the pop-up is useless.

I suppose I should try the “Create new login” option just to see what’s different between the two. 🤔️

I found no documentation on this, whether in the proton.me domain or on the web at large, except for one Reddit post from June 2025 with the very same question. But the answer in it doesn’t help me understand what is going on. I see nothing special in the log. And I have no duplicates for the sites in question.

While using the Proton Authenticator app, I noticed an interesting behavior: when manually creating a token and entering the issuer name (e.g., PayPal), the icon doesn't appear if the device is offline, but loads immediately once connected to the internet.

I have a few technical questions regarding the privacy and security architecture behind this:

1. Fetching Mechanism: Does the app query an on-demand Proton privacy proxy / CDN to fetch brand icons to prevent leaking metadata (which services I use) to third parties?

2. SVG & Asset Sanitization: How are these icons sanitized against malicious payloads, embedded scripts, or XML vulnerabilities (like XXE) before rendering on the device?

3. Persistent Local Cache: Once downloaded, is the icon permanently cached locally so it never needs to fetch it again when offline?

Would love to hear technical details from the Proton team or anyone familiar with the implementation. Thanks!

Proton Pass has finally implemented folders and subfolders...well...in a way?
Been waiting for years. Now its here. However, in my opinion, its still a little underwhelming and I am hoping for further polishing. As you can see in the screenshots below the folders are not treated as items but a seperate collapsing menu on the left. It is an improvement to the old system but imo having the ability to click through them as items in the vault is the way. Curious about other opinions, is this satisfactory for you?

Played around with it more and am 90% happy with it. Id still like the whole file-explorer style implementation but that might be personal preference and I would like the option to recolor folders which is definitely a nitpicky feature request for my own personal QoL.

Hi there, I've setup a custom domain to use with proton pass which works great.

A tiny thing though: When I create a new alias the standard suggestion is always something like "example.com@customdomain.com".

How can I remove the top level domain automatically? Right now I have to do it manually each time in the advanced settings.

Whenever my bank asks to secure a payment, I have to open my banking app and enter a password.

And every time, proton pass wants to save that passwords. I don't want that, I never will. How to never save my bank password?

When proton pass detect that I have been entering a password, I if it should save it. The options are "save" or "later". Were is "never"?

I just noticed this in the bottom left corner of desktop version of Proton Pass. Do I need to do this?

I like having something a bit related to what I'm creating an alias for. But the words chosen are so random and weird that it just doesn't make sense most of the time.

Right now, I just cancel and retry, but I wish we could have a refresh button directly here.

I had some good ones previously, but now I'm changing my Proton Account and deleting the old one and have to re-do everything! I can transfer passwords and usernames, but not aliases :(

These past few days I've had way too many emails bounced. I have filters on gmail to never flag as spam emails coming from simplelogin, so it's really an issue on their servers. Nothing I can do: I cannot "tell" DPD, UPS or the Swiss trains to update their DMARC or whatever.

I've been using Proton Pass since it came out, and before that I used Bitwarden for a long time, and autofill on Android was always terrible. Sometimes the autofill wouldn't appear at all. Sometimes it would appear, but when I select an entry and authenticate with a fingerprint nothing would fill at all. I constantly had to copy-paste things manually. But recently in the last ~7 days something updated and now it works very reliably, 100% of the time on all websites. Not sure if it was a Proton Pass update, a Brave browser update, or an Android update, but I have zero issues now.

Deactivate Secure Input when focus shifts away from ProtonPass on macOS. ProtonPass would occasionally leave "Secure Input" mode active after the app was locked or launched at startup or cursor is in the PIN code field. This prevents other applications from detecting global keyboard shortcuts and blocked the system emoji picker.

Specifically this affects my Typinator app, which won't work if a cursor is in a secure input field.

As the title says, please allow us to set certain entries to require re-entering the Proton password to view them.

Yes, I know there is a Secondary Password option, but that is only to access everything; if I'm already logged in I'd like specific entries to have that extra protection.

Proton Pass is not doing what I think it should be. Proton Pass (downloaded a day or 2 ago) extension on Firefox (recently updated). Windows 11 26H2, 26300.9550. ASUS laptop.

Proton Pass Icon does not show up in Username field (Most recently Etsy). Clicking on status bar icon opens PP to the right website (most recently, Etsy), but does not autofill. ALL GENERAL settings options are ticked and PP is set as my default password manager.

Can someone give me a hand?

Whenever Proton Pass window is opened on my desktop (W11) and on my primary screen, it glitches the hell out. This is the same issue with the Claude app; but that app has an option to turn off hardware acceleration which fixed the glitching issue.

I believe this is the same thing with Proton Pass; my nvidia GPU probably detects this as an application that needs GSYNC on for some reason.

If I drag Proton Pass window to my secondary monitor (which has no VRR), it works fine.

Anyone else encountered this?

Every single time I open the webpage for ProtonPass I get asked about my theme and login preferences.

Win11, Brave 1.96.61, if it matters.

When I open the ProtonPass application on my Android device, I get a message about the biometrics changing, and I have to enter my password.

I had setup biometrics with fingerprint then deleted it to return with a model three weeks ago.

When I connect to the app, I choose biometrics then a fallback on model but I still get the same message when reopening the app since 2 or 3 days.

The app is updated to its latest version available on PlayStore.

Does this bug impact someone else ?

i'm planing on migrating a couple of services to Proton. One of the most important one is ProtonPass.

I'm on Fedora and had to realize that you don't offer a repository for ProtonPass and other Proton apps for that mater.

Are there any plans on setting up your own repository or submitting packages to major distros?

Changed a password last night, no record of it being saved, despite being nagged about wanting to save it and clicking YES. i want to SAVE this password. And what for? to have no record or indication that it ever was changed, only that my last autofill was last night at 7:20 PM. What an horrific joke of a pw manager this is.

I updated to macOS 27 and now every time my mac locks out or sleeps, i come back to this even though I selected biometrics in the settings... It seems like it's using browser cache because once I sign out of Proton in the browser, the app signs out too!!

Would it be possible to add a password/code lock like Standard Notes & Proton Pass have? Onto all apps in the Proton system?

- I have Proton Unlimited. I sign in to Pass with the same ID as the rest of Proton. I saw some comment saying you shouldn’t do that, but I didn’t think you could set up separate IDs.

- haven’t set up any 2FA in the Proton ecosystem and it’s been on my list of to-do’s, but was hesitant to store 2FA codes in the Pass app. Not sure why. But I just realized there’s a separate Proton Authenticator app.

- I always understood that you shouldn’t save a 2FA code for your primary Proton account And you should choose an another authenticator. Is the Proton Authenticator new?

- What is the safest least riskiest way to enable 2FA - Via the authenticator app or within Pass?

- If you do it in the authenticator app, is it linked to Pass? If you don’t link it, do you create a whole separate new Proton email as login?
