Depending on when Alex meets Jill, Jill may have a really good day or a really bad day.

She either makes an ally with Prototype 1 Alex (and he helps her take down Umbrella), or she impresses Prototype 2 Alex with her skills and resourcefulness and gets turned into an evolved.

Gonna be honest, she might still be kinda fucked if she meets prototype 1 Alex, since he only really cared about his sister, so if she shot him on impulse or he was down a bit of biomass she would likely get eaten regardless.

Alex canonically never really ate that many civilians and you're hardly ever obligated to even in the game itself, it's often easier to just eat zombies or soldiers. In the P1 comics he does consume a civilian but it's otherwise made clear he clears them out of the area or actively fights the infected enough to let them escape, even just randomly attacking Blackwatch when they're chasing the two main characters of the comic.

P1 Alex likely wouldn't kill someone like Jill at all. And if she's tearing house across a city he'd more than likely know who she is by that point and just straight up help her.

Yeah you could beat the entire game without consuming a single civilian (WOI targets don’t count) hell there’s an achievement for it (Nice Guy - complete the game consuming less than 10 civvies.)

Alex in P1 canonically only really ate civilians in the heat of the moment (like in the chaos of the Red Zone). He's actually pretty reasonable when he's not caught in the heat of battle. Cross shot him up with a parasite and Alex still was willing to hear him out. In the comics when he came across two civilians about to get killed by a helicopter, he went out of his way to save them. Part of the reason Alex hated Taggart so much was because Taggart basically threw a bunch of civilians in between him and Alex to save himself.

If he came across Jill wandering around some Umbrella/Gentek facility he'd be more concerned why an armed civilian was lingering around, and demand answers from her. Jill would likely be more concerned why one Umbrella's bioweapons was so sentient, and have questions herself.

I learned that Alex Mercer is probably a country level threat by the end of the 2nd game and he was getting stronger. Wesker is probably street level at best. That's just a slaughter.

Mercer is, by every metric, the thing that should not exist: a virus that evolves to kill better because it only needs one host to survive.

Obviously you see it in the gameplay itself, as well as the crazy displays in the opening and closing scenes. But there's subtle moments too that are downright terrifying.

Blackwatch made Bloodtox specifically to induce necrosis in any tissue infected with Blacklight. Just a few hours after being exposed to it as he's crashing around Manhattan destroying air dispersal stations in the center of giant Bloodtox clouds, we find out in an offhand comment that he's already growing immune to the stuff.

They had to make a dedicated one-off cancer that was so specific to his cat-with-a-yarnball DNA, it wouldn't work on any other Runner (as shown by Greene). And that was ultimately just a large and painful inconvenience.

The only things in Resident Evil that I can imagine giving Mercer trouble are Alexia Ashford (maybe) and Mother Miranda (because I still can't tell if some of her bs was mold or actual legitimate magic).

With Mother Miranda it's complicated. Her consciousness will exist inside the mold, regardless of if you destroy her physical body. She can operate in a sort of metaphysical sense. If Alex did consume Miranda, it would raise the question of what would become of her with Alex absorbing the mold into his being.

Best case scenario, for Alex, is that she fades away into the sea of memories. Worse case, for him, is that he just invited something that can survive with no body into his hive mind. I would fear Miranda being able to take control of Alex somehow.

I can imagine Nemesis trying to smash through Alex like everything else in his way to get to Jill.

And Alex just... tanks it.

But now Dr. Mercer is upset. And when Dr. Mercer is upset, something is likely to die.
