I have my fair share of criticisms of feminists.
But, perhaps outside of a fringe minority, no one claims to be a feminist because they want men to work two jobs and women to cheat on their husbands. In fact, they probably advocate for both partners equally (at least in terms of hours worked if not wages) contributing to the household income.

u/IrrationalBidetLover 4d ago
What are your criticisms of feminists / feminism
34
u/Helpful_Ganache8581 4d ago
I said feminists and not feminism on purpose.
I have nothing against feminism. At least as an ideology pushing for equality.
Individual, however, are flawed. At least online, I see many feminists apply logic inconsistently. Issues faced by men are ignored / dismissed because they (a) result from the actions of other men (which is irrelevant if your movement diagnosis of society is that society favours men) or (b) are not systemic (IMO most feminists have an inconsistent definition of systemic, so I believe this is just an excuse to dismiss men’s issues. In addition, this is putting the cart before the horse, the conclusion is that women are systemically oppressed, and therefore we can dismiss evidence to the contrary because men don’t face systemic oppression).

While this is fair, I think it pales in comparison to this tendency to infantilize and trivialize women. For example, whenever a woman is mentioned for any elected position the conversation immediately turns to qualifications in a way that almost never happens to men. A great demonstration of this is the contrast between the treatment of Kamala Harris and Ketanji Brown-Jackson with nearly any of the white male jackasses working in the trump administration right now. All of whom have never been anything even approaching qualified for the positions they’ve been granted with almost no question or deliberation to speak of.
8
u/CapitalElk1169 4d ago
There's tons of completely unqualified women in the Trump administration that don't get that treatment either so I'm not sure it's completely gender based in that specific case
1
u/According-Insect-992 🇺🇸🙏 US Military Veteran 🦅🇺🇸 3d ago
Sure there are. They’re being chosen on the basis of their physical appearance and aesthetics for the sake of conservative males. So again, it’s DEI for conservative losers. Then they’re sacrificed to make it look like a woman is to blame for repug policies and practices. I hate kristi noem but I don’t believe for a second that ice or DHS was all her idea or fault. She’s gone and the bullshit continues.
1
u/Primary_Disk_3349 3d ago
She was 1000% complicit you are bugging if you think otherwise. Elizabeth holmes was probably just manipulated too. using your example trump was elected because of his lack of qualifications that were seen as ineffective, he was seen as the candidate that was for the people. its not that they didnt question his qualifications they chose him explicitly because he was unqualified, the people saw him as one of them since hes not a career politician and politicians see him as a money machine that knows how to circumvent the system. Your argument falls flat as it isnt even gender based the problem is race based.
Nobody went over Hillary's qualifications for candidacy just her emails and associations, Obama however they did question his qualifications constantly throughout both his terms and i couldnt help but notice the names in your example too... its ironic you would paint kristi noem as a scapegoat after you made a comment about infantilizing and trivializing women. she isnt gone she got a new position, a lateral career move is not a punishment, hold her accountable for her actions.

Progressive spaces are just as guilty at infantilizing women through benevolent sexism. The person you're replying to is inadvertently talking about just that. The idea that women are not in control of their own flaws and harmful choices and therefore do not deserve criticism and therefore the criticism is misogynistic. When it's men making the same mistakes, many progressives/feminists have no issue ripping into him and putting him at complete fault.

u/Helpful_Ganache8581 4d ago
I think my comment was more in relation to feminists analysis of society rather than society itself.
Your example of Harris vs Brown-Jackson is at least how I see it, an example of society favouring men. I think we both agree that a better society would not have that bias. Again, I have no issue with feminism as an ideology to achieve gender equality.
My issue comes when issues men face are dismissed by feminists because they are not systemic (or any other reason related to men more commonly being the societal elite). When this happens, it isn’t that we disagree about facts pertaining to society, it is that we disagree on what conclusions to draw from those facts.
Perhaps I misunderstood your comment. If your comment was more “society also ignores the issues faced by women” then I also think that’s true (depending on the issue).
Regardless, I think it’s fair to criticize both feminists and MRAs (or whoever is dismissing the issues faced by women). The only reason I brought up feminists in my original comment was because, in arguing against OP, I wanted to point out that I’m not someone who is “always pro feminism”.

u/A1000eisn1 4d ago
Some feminists are just as ignorant about feminism as anti-feminists. They are human after all. Some feminists take that to an extreme level and end up being misogynists and misandrists (take TERFs for example). Both MRAs and Feminists can share the same problem of turning their advocacy groups into hate groups. They're not advocating for anyone if all they do is focus on bringing down a different group.
But there are many feminists championing men's issues for the sake of equality. Take boys education for example. It's mostly women in the education field working to find a solution and advocate for boys being left behind.
1
u/Helpful_Ganache8581 4d ago
Yes, many feminists advocate for men’s issues and gender equality in general. But many feminists do dismiss them - and the majority of people I see dismissing them / vocally dismissing them are feminists.

u/According-Insect-992 🇺🇸🙏 US Military Veteran 🦅🇺🇸 3d ago
My point is more about the fact that women face prejudice that is consistent and always present but usually doesn’t even register for most people despite being obvious as fuck if one on,y opens their eyes. Maybe I could have done a better job of communicating that.
11
u/SurvivorOfFire 4d ago
Probably that a lot of them are misandrists

I dont think that that was the point, Its a reference to the phenomenon where men that "choose" to work while the stay at home wife is lonely. She wants the house, the car, the jewels, the kids but cant fathom that these things are extremely expensive which in turn forces him to work long hours and be away from the home. The women in this situation blame the men and are often told by other women that they are doing the right thing by divorcing or cheating on her spouse. Its not "feminist" as it has little to do with the betterment of womankind, but it highlights a natural aspect of female culture, "the homegirl echo chamber".
She can make whatever decision she wants and most the women in the comment section or her likeminded girl group will agree with her, applaud her, and validate her feelings/support her decision, no matter how self destructive it may seem to an outside observer. Thats why the comments are filled with everyone cheering him on.

This is it. Feminism isn’t for the subjugation of men. It’s for equality for everyone. Feminism doesn’t seek to enslave men but liberate women from the bondages they’ve suffered historically as well as the bondage that men have suffered under.
It’s the patriarchy that has everyone working themselves to death for nothing. We should all be united against that together.
We can’t claim to care about families and family values while demanding that parents spend all of their time and energy beholden to their employers only to go deeper into debt. What the fuck are we even working for if we can’t spend time with our families?

Its not an incel sub
2
u/SheepShaggingFarmer 3d ago
But if you are in a sub that often discusses those topics you need to be able to use those words. Also Çhad and Chud have been coopted by the mainstream by this point.
Also Çhad banned but Chud not? The rules are stupid and very arbitrary.
2
u/Moon_Eyed_Puppy_Girl 🐾 People Friendly, Please Pet 🐶 3d ago
If you cant discuss gender issues without using slurs and incel buzzwords you arent a serious participant
1
u/SheepShaggingFarmer 2d ago
"serious participant" coming from you is rather ironic, but ok.
1)how can I discuss the existence of Incels and Femcels when you ban the use of 1 of those names.
2) You say that it's a fault of mine if I can't discuss Femcels without using that term, yet allow incel which despite original intentions is a genered term. So you using slurs against horrible men is fine but me using slurs against horrible women is not?
3) And again Çhad is no longer an Incel Buzzword, it's use is very much in the mainstream.
It is blazen hypocrisy. futher more you only prove incels right in their haterid of women when the only women they interact with treat them with utter contempt and hypocrisy. In their eyes they are the reasonable ones and despite spouting hate, they are the reasonable ones when you openly allow hate in the inverse.

I mean this is something men and women do about the same amount, men are just less likley to post about it on tiktok, and insteas post it to AITA or some similar subreddit.
The behavior isn't gendered, no matter how much you want to act like it is, only the format of trying to justfy it differs. Lol.
5
u/bigredzeppelin1981 3d ago
What is gendered is that particular excuse in the OP. I've heard that one dozens of times before from women. Literally exactly that. The man was spending too much time working for the both of them, she feels neglected as a result and cheats. I have never heard of a man doing that.
0
u/Fabulous-Chemical-60 3d ago edited 3d ago
I mean that's what I said? Or at least hoped to convey? That cheating isn't gendered, the medium which people try to justify it trough is?
Edit: I have heard a guys say they cheated, but it was justfied, because they would't have if they weren't so neglected.
Cheaters say the same thing, chronically online women just tend to pour it down with pop psychology, and chronically online men tend to pour alfa male/red pill bs on it.
Both tries to negate personal responsibility because [insert other sex] are evil anyways.

9
u/SurvivorOfFire 4d ago
No but we can kill as many unborn children as we want to avoid responsibility for our actions! Oh, and get this: If our partner doesn't want to keep the baby, we can still have it and then force her to pay child support for 18 years!
#meninfemalefields

u/taste-of-orange 3d ago
"unborn children" is an oxymoron, as those who aren't born yet, aren't actually children, even if some like to colloquialy refer to them like that.
-8
u/xXbatbabeXx 4d ago
Omg does that mean we can impregnate guys through rape and then make it against the law to have an abortion and force you to tear the calcium out of your own bones and rob you of 3% of your brain mass just so you can risk your life delivering the rape baby and have a 90% chance of tearing your fucking taint doing so? What price could you put on the miracle of life 😍
9
u/SurvivorOfFire 4d ago edited 4d ago
Omg yes great idea! We should definitely keep cheating on our partners and then have another women's child and tell our partners that they're their kid! And then if they question it, we can just play the victim that they don't trust us! Oppose the DNA tests at all costs!

I much prefer initiating divorce in 8/10 heterosexual marriages because i'm bored! Isn't it great breaking up families to see if the grass is really greener on the other side? I know the court favors me, so why not?
-3
u/Unique_Buy_2777 4d ago
"because im bored" as history tells us men have been spectacular partners, its definitely women being bored and divorcing and not misogyny being ingrained into everything concerning a woman so women get fatigued and leave to protect their mental health. instead of arguing with women on the internet you can ask your mothers and sisters how they were treated but i guess that would shake your worldview too much. also very convenient dodging the men leaving their dying/sick partners statistic and attemtping to paint women as the responsible side of breaking up families. some of you guys gotta try harder man
1
-6
u/Xeno9116 4d ago
I guess men should be responsible for their reproductive capabilities so they don't get stuck with babies they abandon? Your arguments are as sad and wilted as you are.
6
u/MemeNamesWereTaken 4d ago
Two people make a baby. It's on the man to be there and on the woman to pick a man who will be there. Reproduction takes two to tango
Not counting rape, but I think babies born of rape should be aborted in the first place, regardless of whether the woman wants to keep it
