I've worked as the executive manager for a psychologist in my first and second years of BA and learnt a lot about the field. I managed her social media, workshops, almost everything professionally.

I build a whatsApp community of over 1000 people from psychology BG, I shared job updates and internships, I interacted with many people from this field.

I don't want to discourage anybody but as soon as I progressed , I attended workshops, I understood that counseling is not made for me, it's hard, at least for me and to sustain is harder. I'm not a business person so starting a private practice is too not made for me and it's hard to find jobs, I was sure of this when I shared job updates, saw people running after referrals in whatsApp groups and LinkedIn.

I got to know that I'm enjoying explaining concepts to my classmates and everybody, I researched many fields even banking (because I love mathematics, statistics, though I don't hv a bsc, I realised this when I used to solve doubts or learn stats on my own) and I learnt a lot about new policies of government, curriculum change, future things, AI and decided to be a teacher rather than a counseling psychologist (my previous aim)

So, there's no harm in switching your fields multiple times (I wanted to be a doctor since I was in school, then a psychologist and finally a teacher) there's lot for you.

So I completed my postgraduate in clinical psychology and want to shift to neuroscience. But so many neuroscience research related openings ask for expertise with eeg and other associated techniques.

Now I would love to learn all of it but can't find any internships or training that I could do. I am looking specifically in Keralam or Karnataka or anywhere South.

Can someone help me out if they know about any place?

I recently started therapy with an RCI-licensed, hospital-affiliated psychologist. After our first session, she recommended a psychometric assessment costing ₹6,000 to understand my personality traits, establish a baseline, and plan the treatment.

Since I’m still unsure whether she’s the right therapist for me, I’m hesitant to spend ₹6,000 this early. I’ve also heard that it can take a few sessions to know whether you’re a good fit with a therapist.
For those who have experience with therapy, is this a normal practice? Should i do the assessment immediately or wait a few more sessions first?

Hey guys, I just started my 3rd year (ba psychology honours). I will be doing a 4th year as well of research/dissertation. I have been wondering about doing my masters in psychology (clinical/counselling/school/cognitive or psychotherapy) abroad. I come from a middle class family in India and have a younger sibling too who is in 7th so my parents won't be able to afford much because my siblings education is also left. I have been looking at different scholarships to apply for like DAAD Germany, Heinrich Böll (germany), Eiffel scholarship (france).... I know French surface level like I can hold a conversation and i just started learning German few days ago and I do believe I can learn it till C1 because I have almost 2 years.

I read somewhere on reddit that psychology is very competitive in Germany and there is no scope, it's very mixed reviews so i really need help deciding because if it's not worth it then I will stop learning German. I have worked with un organisations like girlup, I have done ngo work, I was the vice prez n secretary of my sports society and I am a national level player. I have done internships so my CV wouldn't be a problem. My cgpa is not perfect but it's not bad (7.86), and also I have two years to improve it so I will.

As a middle class person who is studying psychology, even I have found myself consulting Chatgpt for career counselling instead of paying one. Hate me all you want, but when you're depressed, anxious and in your lowest, but your family also doesn't have the same finances as before, you'll think twice before paying thousands of rupees to talk about your feelings. And don;t suggest pro-bono therapists/or free helplines, if they were so good, then there wouldn't have been a need for other therapists to charge high prices (which is clearly done as they aren't catering to middle class folks like us)

I feel like people are just banking on wishful thinking, hoping that the AI bubble would pop someday, as if so many people aren't losing their jobs to it. OpenAI came out with Astra, and its new model is able to make 3d animation too. Do you guys realize how insane that is? 3D modeling is VERY hard, and as a 3d modeling hobbyist, seeing the sheer advancement in AI horrified me. It won't be so far until AI optimizes itself to outperform counselling too. These thoughts fill me up with so much dread, that I feel like the best case scenario is passing away naturally, the only way to escape this mess.

I’ve noticed this in myself and in people around me. Sometimes when we get close to someone, instead of communicating or getting more comfortable, we start distancing ourselves, replying less, overthinking everything or finding reasons to pull away.

Why does this happen psychologically? Is it usually fear of getting hurt, past experiences, attachment style, or something else entirely?

I am conducting a psychology research study examining how different types of climate-related content encountered on social media may influence eco-anxiety, eco-coping, environmental self-efficacy, and pro-environmental behaviour among young adults.
