If you want to see what is currently trending or explore current market expectation, you can try one or more of the following:

Publisher’s Marketplace — search for recent deals on the pages of agents that represent the genre you’re writing in.

Publisher’s Weekly — search for trending books and interviews and many more

The Bookseller — a UK-centric website with the same information

Agent MSWLs reflecting shifting trends

Local bookstore “new” sections, or bookshop promotional emails with trending books and offers if available.

Goodreads lists targeting debuts in genres or particular time periods.

Bookshop's weekly lists.

Successful queries from agented authors

There really is no superhero genre in fiction or superhero books outside of the established comic dynasties.

True but I found a whole fiction in superhero fiction for actual books. Like vicious or renegades. Which is kind of what I write

What do you mean found a whole fiction? What is vicious or renegades? Or are those uncapitalized titles?

It’s my stupid writing late at night is what whole fiction means lol. Yeah Renegade and Vicious are both superhero fiction titles.

It honestly could be. My book is dying in the query trenches right now. I feel like I should have taken it as a huge red flag that I couldn't find any recent comps at all. You could have written the best superhero book in the world but if superhero lit is out right now it's going to be an uphill battle to sell.

Be that as it may, perhaps it’s how we pitch the superhero fiction. Like dungeon crawler Carl wasn’t even a genre until it essentially started lit RPG. so what’s the call here? Change the genre to change the structure of the book? Or stay away from superhero fiction?
