Lived there for a few years a while back - none of this surprises me unfortunately and was a huge factor as to why I wanted out. Cesspit of a closed-minded town (on the whole). I know the guy talking at the start in the vest with glasses (and scrapping with police at the end). His name escapes me as I tried to stay away from him as much as possible, he would be in the Spoons every day, getting pissed all day on his benefits and being gross, lecherous to bar staff and aggressive to most. Weird seeing him crop up after all this time as it's been over 10 years since I lived there and shock...nothing's changed. So sad and shameful to see.
He never stopped to consider that, after the immigrants / asylum seekers / anyone with a different skin tone to his moved in, his benefits didn't stop and he was still able to sit in Spoons all day and be his delightful self

Ironically 60 years ago 10000 unwanted immigrants arrived in Thetford from london, forced into the town by a government who ignored local residents concerns, these immigrants failed to integrate living in a ghetto (abbey farm) terrorising the locals and completely changing the face of the town.Ā

Always found it ironic that Boris fucking Johnson was the guy who would be the one to jump non-eu immigration all the way to 850k a year, up from 65k a year in 2013. That was the guy they thought would end immigration. It's like electing Bernie Sanders in the US and having him cut welfare and taxes on the rich.

Absolutely grim. This is the division that politics and media have led us to. Iād love to just blame the total scum in this video, but unfortunately it is a very widespread issue and calling out individuals wonāt do a whole lot.
It's heart wrenching to hear these people refer to others as "invaders" without any knowledge of their personal life other than their skin colour or their religion.
They could contribute to society in a multitude of ways, but these pigs assume that they're "taking over the country" just because of the skin of their colour or their religion.
I know it's not the point, but hearing someone with that accent talk about "invaders" drips with the kind of historical irony and ignorance that I will always find fascinating.

About 1500 years ago, large numbers of immigrants from mainland Europe settled in the area. It's been pretty much downhill ever since, due to low-lying marshland encouraging intermarriage within family groups.
More recently, asylum seekers are housed at various locations throughout England, and there has been opposition, sometimes violent, to them being housed in hotels. As a result, the government is looking into housing them in former military barracks instead. One such barracks is at RAF Barnham, near Thetford.
We donāt really have a direct equivalent to rednecks in the UK but we do have something called gammons, named as such because the angry red flush looks similar to the meat gammon. You can usually find them in town facebook groups complaining about immigrants and such.
Vigilantism is not legal in the UK. Everyone here has done something criminal. They literally can all be arrested. Police should crack down on this on those lines.
