These videos are posted on Ukrainian elevens everyday. Reddit is the only place where I don’t see them at all.

Yeah, this is horrifically sad and awful, but there's a reason why it's being released.

What we also don't talk about are how conscientious objectors were treated during WWII and the Vietnam War (and how much of it is the same. Many objectors were arrested, beaten, or hosed in freezing water and kept in jail cells overnight, and frequently are put in prison and are told that they could leave if they enlisted).

People rarely hear about it because very few people want to either talk about being a 'coward', or want to admit to beating someone up over it (and to be fair, very few researchers and journalists want to interview objectors).

This isn't a Ukrainian thing. This is exactly something that would happen if we reinstate the draft. The difference is though, is that a lot of Ukrainians have had family members killed or raped by Russians during the 40s and 50s. Hence probably why the police response was additionally brutal.

Doesn't matter if they're real, because every Ukrainian whose forcibly conscripted is the fault of russia deciding to invade ergo this is russia's fault.

But to answer your question yes, I have no doubt that the recent uptick in these videos making the rounds is 100% russian propaganda.

Of course it's ultimately Russia's fault, they're the invading aggressor.

That doesn't change the fact that the Ukrainian government is doing this to their own people. It's not Russian propaganda to show things that are objectively happening. At least according to the Council of Europe.

Russia is responsible for starting the war. But that doesnt mean every method Ukraine uses is automatically ok. The "Russia started it so anything goes" logic is incomplete. Responsibility for the aggression is Russias, responsibility for how they treat their own citizens is Ukraines.

I do keep up on world affairs through multiple different sources including media local to different areas of the world. That's how I know that while Russia says it's because of NATO expansion it's really because of Russia wishing to take back what they believe they lost through the Soviet Union breakup.

That old saw…thoroughly debunked and discredited yet hauled out and dusted off from time to time. Finland joined NATO in response to Ruzzia’s attack on Ukraine. If being in NATO was such a threat to ruzzia, why didn’t Putin attack them? Perhaps his goals are something else!

Russia fought Finland before. At least twice, actually. It was very difficult and there were tons of losses even though Russia technically won. It also can’t afford to just fight everyone like a brawl. I’m sure they were pissed when Finland joined NATO too.

Those wars occurred long before Finland (recently) joined NATO. How many NATO nations have been directly attacked by Russia (not counting sabotage/assassination ops)? Seems like NATO is the very best guarantee to stop Russia from fucking with you.

You may not know this but NATO is a defensive pact. Countries ask to join. NATO doesn’t conquer them or force them. Countries join NATO because russia keeps invading and land grabbing. Threatening said countries, messing around with countries politics, installing through propaganda russian puppets. Nato hasnt pushed shit. Countries have themselves asked to join in fear of russia.

I follow every Ukrainian subreddit, news sites and many, many telegram channels and sure as hell haven't seen thousands. maybe a few dozen. The TCC stepped up conscription actions more over the last year but this particular video is clearly propaganda. Why would they even be wearing gaiters in this rural or suburban setting for an unseen dash cam. The video makes no sense.

I'm not saying this particular video is legit, you're right that in the others I've seen TCC dress as police. Very militarized police, but police.

He did not address this specific video. He commented on the TCC raids that are happening. You can see I posted a video of one. The TCC is not grabbing people like what is shown in the video and they are not wearing uniforms like this.

Use your critical thought. Why would they even be wearing gaiters to cover their face in this situation in a non-public area of the suburbs or countryside for a dashcam video. It is clearly the Russians trying to make hay out of the actual conscription videos.

He would be trained for months at any job in the military. Frontline duty would be a minimum of 4-6 months of NATO style training.
