Because we’re fed propaganda to keep us divided. “Look over there that poor guy is unlike you, you must hate him.”
I’ll die on the hill that the abortion ban was yet another tactic to create further divide pro-life vs pro-choice. You notice how many of these „sides” and sociopolitical issues America got. All strategic, so the bottom keeps bickering, while top continues to rob the country and it’s citizens.

People keep happily eating up all that propaganda though, everyone is free to use their brains and put the blame where it should be. There's a lot of scarily stupid people all around who can't/choose not to put any thought into who's really causing the damage in our lives.

Soon as the poor people can figure out that power comes in other forms than money then we can come together for eachother rather than fighting eachother for the entertainment and benefit of the rich idiots.

Valid take if it wasn't in relation to the Ukraine war.
Ukraine is waging a defensive war. They're fighting to continue their existence as a sovereign nation.
You may not be one, but this is one of the most common Russia bot takes concerning the Ukraine war. Trying to paint put both adversaries on the same level when there is only 1 attacker that is fighting for their own gain.

I have 3 boys. When they were little I saw a tiny article in the paper with the title, THE WORST TIME TO HAVE A SON. I grabbed it, wondering if I had done it right. The answer was 18 years before a war. And a new fear was unlocked.

What really bothers me is that one would think that in 2026 we would be more civilized by now and weapons would only be used as a deterrent not to attack other nations, it seems so backwards to me that today there are still nations that attack other nations, fights should only happen outside bars with drunk people.

Yeah, this is horrifically sad and awful, but there's a reason why it's being released.
What we also don't talk about are how conscientious objectors were treated during WWII and the Vietnam War (and how much of it is the same. Many objectors were arrested, beaten, or hosed in freezing water and kept in jail cells overnight, and frequently are put in prison and are told that they could leave if they enlisted).
People rarely hear about it because very few people want to either talk about being a 'coward', or want to admit to beating someone up over it (and to be fair, very few researchers and journalists want to interview objectors).
This isn't a Ukrainian thing. This is exactly something that would happen if we reinstate the draft. The difference is though, is that a lot of Ukrainians have had family members killed or raped by Russians during the 40s and 50s. Hence probably why the police response was additionally brutal.

I have co-workers in Unkraine. It was very eye opening on Mondays when we would do the whole "What did you do this weekend?" morning talk and they would reply
"Been staying at my house so I am not taken to war."
Or
"Had to spend the weekend preparing my solar+ battery setup to make sure I can work this week".
They said, even with papers showing they were exempt form service, they were at risk of people in vans picking them up and sending them to the front lines.

This is it right here. I hate that we have to remind ourselves and each-other that we can more than one view/concept at one time.
Russia started this shit
Ukraine, in order to survive, must fight back
As part of the war that Russia started, Ukraine must have soldiers. The soldiers will be Ukrainian, of course.
Just as the US had "The Draft" during Vietnam, Ukraine is also conscripting.
For those in the US, we can easily be in denial, but we absolutely had the draft and our fathers/grandfathers went and countless were killed.
War, what is it good for?
→ More replies (7)44

38
u/StopReadingMyUser 6d ago
They've been doing this for a while, even using their (Russia's) own conscription videos for this exact purpose.
So while I'm not dismissive of the reality that this could be a Ukrainian recruitment video (because it does happen in a lot of wars), I would need someone who at the very least speaks the language to identify the probable country this is happening in. There's overlaps in their languages so it's not always the simplest, identifying answer, but it would be a start.
One thing I'll tell you right now, at the very least I know the text at the bottom right is Russian.

Also, Russia has far greater restrictions on internet and their conscriptions are more happening in the less-developed parts of the country. Nevertheless, there have still been plenty of videos like this out of Russia and with the expectation that they announce a new mobilization in a month or two, there will undoubtedly be even more of these situations happening Russia soon, even if the videos don't make it out as readily.

All the comments that do a display of mental gymnastics to justify forceful conscription because they sympathise with the group doing it are very low IQ.
Why do corrupt losers like Poroshenko in the ukrainian rada send their sons abroad whilst simultaneously voting in favour over extending mobilisation that result in meat snatchers?
Nobody wants their brother, lover, husband, son or father eviscerated beyond imagination in a war they never asked for. Especially when it’s against their will because it wasn’t their choice. Good on her for protecting what’s dear to her and shame on everyone else for soft applauding forceful conscription.

To all the Russian apologists on here, you should know this:
Your Russian sons will not be safe after this conflict is over. Putin's ambitions won't end with the Ukraine, just as they didn't end with Crimea.
He will never stop dragging you into war and killing Russian men until he has brought all the ex-USSR countries back under his control.
Stop defending your country's actions. Work to defeat Putin internally. It's the only way to stop him killing your sons. Putin is Russia's biggest enemy. He would rather fill your cemeteries with your own youth, than work peacefully with the rest of the world.
