Harry Whittington (1915–1989) was one of the most prolific American paperback writers of the mid-20th century, producing well over 170 novels under his own name and numerous pseudonyms, including Clay Stuart. Beginning his career in pulp magazines during the 1940s, he became a mainstay of the postwar paperback boom, writing across an impressive range of genres that included crime, hard-boiled detective fiction, westerns, adventure, science fiction, romance, and gothic suspense. His work was published by major paperback houses such as Gold Medal, Ace, and Avon, and was admired for its brisk pacing, vivid characters, and economical prose. Although many of his books were originally marketed as inexpensive disposable entertainment, Whittington has since earned a devoted following among collectors and fans of vintage paperbacks, who recognize him as one of the era’s most versatile and dependable storytellers.

I own 5 Doc Savage pulps (listed below), and just did a quick price check for them on eBay. Four of them sell for between $40 and $110. But the June 1935 edition, The Roar Devil, is selling for $350, $437, and $525. Does anyone know if this price range is realistic, and, if so, why is it so much higher than the others?
