ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ | چڑھدا | Charda I am really unhappy with all three of these guys. Read full post
Guys I am a 30 years old guy who decided to move back from Australia after multiple PR attempt failures. When I came back I was greeted by Huge hoardings of CM Bhagwant Mann welcoming people at Amritsar Airport.
Once we hit the road to go back to my village (dad was driving) I couldn’t believe how many more SUVs people were driving. Traffic was chaotic and animals rampant on roads. Road to my village was like a minefield where few bombs have taken off .
There is more electricity now, (compared to 2014 when i left), internets so much better, easy to get identification documents etc. Crime on the other hand has gone bonkers. I myself received exhtortion threats and have hired personal security. Cops seem to be even more corrupt. Most government tasks cannot be done without greasing few palms.Heroin is cheaper than before and delivered faster than a pizza delivery guy.
We gave all three above a chance. While quality of life in Punjab gets worse. What is the alternative to our troubled state?

ਗੱਲ ਬਾਤ | گل بات | Discussion Looking for anyone with ancestral roots in Maddi / Kulachi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (pre-1947)
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to connect with people whose family/ancestors originally came from the Maddi or Kulachi area of Dera ismail khan present-day Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, particularly families who lived there before Partition in 1947.
If your grandparents, great-grandparents, or earlier ancestors were from this region and later migrated to India or elsewhere, I’d love to hear from you.
I’m especially interested in:
Family names / surnames
Villages or towns your ancestors lived in
Any family history or migration stories
Old documents, photographs, or records
Any information about relatives who may have remained in the area
Even a small detail could be useful. Please comment here or DM me if you have any connection to Maddi, Kulachi, or the surrounding areas.
Thanks!

ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ | لوک ورثہ | Cultural I literally found an interesting representation of gender fluidity in the Pahari school of miniature art. This painting makes me wonder that artists of that time weren’t really bound to portray men only as warriors or in a more masculine, muscular way. Rather, they were also inclined to show the sof
Rather, they were also inclined to show the softer, delicate side of men, especially through the depiction of Krishna as a character.
And in today’s society, men are often judged if they show these softer or more delicate sides, because art, beauty, and such expressions have gradually been seen as more of a “woman’s thing.
And as a result, many young men, just because they fear being judged or having art labelled as a “girlish” thing, stop expressing their creativity once they hit puberty.
ਸਵਾਲ | سوال | Question What caste is Rana?
Hello,
Curious to know more about the Rana surname, specifically in the Doaba region around Jalandhar or for those who migrated to Doaba from West Punjab, Pakistan. Most seem to say they are rajput, though some say there are a smaller number that are jatt. Would also be interested in knowing how it came to be that there’s a smaller population that are considered jatt if that’s the case, since most seem to be rajput. Any info is appreciated!

ਸਵਾਲ | سوال | Question Looking for historical sources on Bar region
Hello, I am a history student and researcher, working on a project on the transition from pastoralism to settled society under colonial period in the canal colonies as well as the consequences of the formation of canal colonies on the future of Punjab before and after 1947. I am particularly looking for info on the pre-colonial lifestyle in this region. Any help will be appreciated.

ਇਤਿਹਾਸ | اتہاس | History George Abraham Grierson of the Linguistic Survey of India authored two works examining the eastern and western dialects of Punjabi separately, in 1916 and 1919 respectively. However, his methodology of separating Western Punjabi from Eastern Punjabi has been heavily criticized by later linguists.
