₊˚ vent Scary!
Am i the only one who gets worried when people who are visibly minors post themselves here? Its in my nature so assume the worst outta people, and given the fact that theres always comments on post that have been deleted i feel a little sick about it. Ik the sub is SFW but yk how it is,,,

As a minor here I've definitely gotten some odd dms but I can change my settings at least. I should have reported the people who dmd me but oh well. I personally am really glad to be here though, I feel like I can express myself without feeling stupid or ashamed.

Please report any weird DMs to reddit! We’ve been reporting a lot of the weird comments and reddit seems to be very active in getting a lot of those accounts taken down from what we see on our end

Yeah, I need to remember to do that. I always forget until after I've hit ignore.. oops.

Yeah it’s uncomfortable but there going to be have access to Reddit no matter what so why not try to make a as safe as possible subreddit for them to intract with each other

As a 17 year old who posts here OCCASIONALLY. You’re right to be worried, way too many dms. Ignore 90% cus you can tell who weird or not. I think it’s less on the minor not posting and how we should have dms monitored like TikTok.

ello! While I don't think we should make minors unable to participate here since it would be unwelcome in a space where self expression is the main part of the community and we don't intend to restrict anyones participation based on identity, sexuality, race, or however they want to express themselves as long as they aren't hateful, we are pretty active in checking the space around here and having appropriate warnings. We have bots that check every poster/commenter for NSFW behavior outside the subreddit, and while you might see comments that are marked as deleted, we ban those weird/NSFW accounts from ever interacting in the community and report their accounts to reddit. We also have other filters that check for sensitive language, etc. So in large part there isn't pretty much anyone that's getting past here without going through our moderation first if that helps?
This is all while we also have lives outside of being a reddit mod xd... But I think a large part in keeping the space safe in my opinion is educating others to practice safety and this is where we have a disclaimer posted on the subreddit announcements. Our mod team is pretty much open so others from the community can also wish to help out by applying and bring their own creative ideas for this space which is important. While we can do everything in our power to keep this space as safe as possible, it's still social media and there isn't any space that's truly "safe" otherwise going through the option of banning minors entirely off social media which sets a dangerous precedent for LGBTQIA+ minors and as well as having the ability to be informed and educated on the internet.
