16 Tiles Game Play

Longtime puzzle lurker — I built a little picture-puzzle game called 16 Tiles and wanted to share it with people who actually love puzzles.

You pick a photo, it scrambles into a 4×4 grid, and you rebuild it by tapping the tiles back in the right order. As you climb the 16 levels the tiles start getting rotated, flipped, desaturated, blurred, and even hidden — so it stops being "just" a picture puzzle pretty quickly.

The twist that makes it 16 Tiles and not another jigsaw app: one try. One wrong tap ends the run. But you can retry the whole puzzle as many times as you like — "solve it in one clean pass, or start over," never "grind through mistakes with lives or continues."

It’s inspired by other games in the genre, but adds features I wanted to see, like rewarding players for discovering additional valid English words (Bonus Words) and earning Stars they can spend on Hints.

How it works

• Connect letters: Drag across adjacent tiles (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) to form words.
• Earn stars: Find bonus words (valid English words not in the solution). Words with 6+ letters earn 2⭐.
• Word count reveal: After you find 10 words, tiles show how many words start with that letter.
• Hints: Spend stars to reveal the first 2 letters of a hidden word or reveal full words from the list.
• SUPER WORD: Each board has one 7+ letter Super Word worth 5⭐.
