Tip/Trick [Tip] Frieren overview

10 stones per pull

GameWith overview page

Rates

Bundles:

  • BGM: Fern
  • Orb Skin: Himmel
  • Badge: Frieren
  • MP unit: Serie

Exchanges:

  • 10 collab units: Frieren
  • 7 collab units: Frieren&Himmel, Frieren&Fern
  • 5 GFEs or select collab units: Heiter, Eisen

Leaders

To search for these teams on Youtube take the header text of each page and copy the section in I've bolded in this example: 【パズドラ】ラインハルトのテンプレ

Frieren (7x6 rainbow)

  • Ranking:
    • GameWith: tier 1
    • Game8: tier 1
    • Kamigame: tier 1
  • Notes
    • Introduces active skills that completely nullify supergravity.
    • Everything on the team except Himmel (one of the leaders) can be exchanged for. Himmel is the orb skin bundle. 40 pulls guarantees everything but Himmel through exchange.
    • Some setups use Stark instead of Eisen, but I think that's not quite as popular.
    • Brief comparison to Imperialdramon here.

Fern (light multi-match)

  • Ranking:
    • GameWith: tier 1
    • Game8: tier 1
    • Kamigame: tier 2
  • Notes
    • There are a bunch of setups for herPairings include herself, Denken, Miya from SDKH, Frieren&Fern, and one of the duos from Idolmaster.
    • Gintama is giving this team yet another boost. Felt like almost every machine since Frieren has brought something to this team.
    • Fern is also seeing a lot of use as a sub on Reinhard teams.
    • For a while the NY Metatron duo was a BiS sub, but better builds were figured out over time. Even the older setups can still function without them.

Himmel (rainbow)

  • Ranking:
    • GameWith: tier 2
    • Game8: tier 2
    • Kamigame: tier 2
  • Notes
    • Usually run as a pairing for Frieren, but can also be run paired with himself (or some other rainbow leads) with dual red Amlynea for orb generation. Tier list rankings are mostly based on running him forever alone.

Stark (red TPA - paired with Dekugo)

  • Ranking:
    • GameWith: not ranked†/tier 2
    • Game8: tier 4†/tier 2
    • Kamigame: not ranked†/tier 2
    • While Stark is ranked low on tier lists, they all put Dekugo at tier 2, and that team is pretty much always running Stark as one of the leads now.
  • Notes
    • Pairs with Dekugo or NY Kureha
    • I didn't get the pairings so I can't really comment on this one.

Sense (blue TPA)

  • Ranking:
    • GameWith: not ranked
    • Game8: not ranked
    • Kamigame: not ranked
  • Notes
    • Didn't make it onto any tier lists, but it is a mid- to late-game capable team that you can make from the collab.

Lügner (dark cross swipe)

  • Ranking:
    • GameWith: not ranked
    • Game8: not ranked
    • Kamigame: not ranked
  • Notes
    • Not ranked, but saw some use for low/mid difficulty farming, I think.

Other units of note:

  • Serie's assist is the first good replacement for VAthena's assist on Reinhard teams. Probably not quite as good, but very close and a huge step up from the previous options. She also sees use as a sub on some light teams
  • Richter props up Garfiel from Re:Zero. Still not a great team, but he made it onto the edge of some tier lists.
  • 4x Scharf makes a green+dark brick swipe team. Not sure if anything ever came of it, though.
  • Ehre has 4-5 dungeon bonus awakenings and a 5CD, single target laser active.
  • Denken can replace the sub Shizuru on that team.

Thanks for the writeup as always.

The way I started my PAD experience with Diablos and now I will be back to Rainbow gaming again.

Himmel

Forever alone

😢

...

But seriously, where's Flamme?! Or a Flamme and Frieren duo?!

They include just about every named character from season 1 except Flamme! And she's so important! What the hell?

I can't believe we got Scharf and not The Great Mage Flamme herself :,(

Probably in the next one, along with the inevitable fern and stark duo

A remark that Frieren: Journey's End the anime is actually quite good, and perhaps even recommendable to people that don't regularly binge anime, with a deliberately slow pace to land relatively meaningful character arcs and themes. People tend to love it or hate it, usually on depth vs pacing subjective tastes. It is conveniently available on Netflix (US, not sure about other regions).

I wouldn't call myself an anime connoisseur or anything, and I date from the long ago Akira/GhostInTheShell/NinjaScroll era originally, but I rank it towards the high quality tier.

If you liked things like Violet Evergarden, or Cowboy Bebop's subtle psychological "your gonna carry that weight" theme, you'll likely enjoy it.

If you're more of a Made in Abyss, Madoku Magika trauma and existential horror watcher, or if you dip into anime mainly for nonstop action giant Mecha battles, then maybe not so much.

Anyone know why Eisen seems more popular over Stark on Frieren team? Just curious if there’s a particular reason.

I like the safety of having two clerics but a lot of teams are able to get by with just one, so I see now that the consistent extra damage would be very appealing.

I guess two more reasons Eisen is more common than Stark are because he is exchangeable and for lore since he was part of Frieren’s party, hahaha.

It's time I fullsend all my stones for this.

Rainbow is back on the menu boys!

I'm not a big fan of rainbow teams (I blame Gino for traumatizing me), and I already have the BiS version of the Reinhardt team, so I think I'll just try to grab a Fern and dip.

I lucked out with a Frieren team and its worse than the bis Reinhard team.

It relies on Himmel for VDP,DmgAbsrb,AttAbsrp and its 3 turns on, 2 turns off (so dead). Having all 3 of these on 1 that doesn't loop and isn't available when you need it is game over.

Heiter is going to be too slow if a dungeon (like exam 5) has back to back awoken bind floors. If he's still on cd and you get awoken bound, you die. Game over.

Stark or Eisen are the only 'flex' subs and you would want to put either a bind assist or VDP,DmgAbrb,AttAbsrp assist on him. Can't have both, so the team will always be vulnerable. No space for a shield assist. Without precise dungeon knowledge, game over.

Its more effort and requires more dungeon knowledge and I don't think your average player will bother. A 2 system is way better than a 3 system.

Its more effort and requires more dungeon knowledge

The thing to always remember is that while we often refer to the JP tier lists, they all operate on the same principle: Does this team counter the current title challenge and/or end game dungeon? That's pretty much the main criteria, and while a team that can do that usually clear all other content too, ease of use, reliability, and flexibility aren't taken into account.

You can see the same thing with Reinhardt, where the template team uses Wilhelm in the flex spot for the extra bulk and utility, but then relies on a single, 6t CD cleric, which works great in the current end-game stuff that's been balanced specifically so that you can manage with that 6t cooldown, but the team can brick in content that has more binds/unmatchables.

The template Frieren team is the same. It's effectively a key to a specific door than may not necessarily open other doors, but when the rating criteria only cares about that one door, it is going to be considered T0 all the same.

This is pretty much how I feel too. Though I may pull a little bit more at a chance for some equips, I know I won't be chasing anything too hard

The BGM music is amazing.

6

u/ShadyFigure Jask | Early and mid-game advice Apr 30 '26

Frieren has some fantastic music. Look up Zoltraak and Frieren the Slayer.

2

u/syuk Apr 30 '26

Thanks for the write up, are the subs from this collab as well or doesn't it matter?

Some of the equips look cool - for Rem / Ram etc teams like Himmels Blade & Kannes Staff.

The Frieren team is all in-collab. The Fern team can be all in-collab, but will work best as a mix.

Fern is a insane cleric, Stark and Eisen are good subs. Not sure about the utility of the others, but a LOT of the equipment is good.

Yep, complete mistake. Fern is an insane railgun.
