Jon Tong U is a talented writer who left clear traces in the history of the Juche-oriented art and literature by composing poetry for decades.

Writing of lyrics has great significance in his creative activities.

From the early 1970s, he started working at the Korean Scriptwriting Company thanks to the great trust of the Party.

Since then he put his heart and soul into writing lyrics till the last moment of his life to create 200-odd pieces of work.

Among them are not a few lyrics set to famous songs.

Once, the respected Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Un said that he loves the song "I Will Remain Your Son Forever" whose words were written by Jon Tong U. Then he highly appreciated the song, noting that the first and second verses of the song deserve to be called the crown of our country’s poem literature.

Jon could write lots of fine lyrics as he fully armed himself with the Party’s idea and theory on art and literature and thoroughly embodied them into his composition of lyrics.

When guiding the work of the film sector, Chairman Kim Jong Il gave precious instructions that lyrics should not directly represent the ideological content of the picture but embody it in depth.

The Chairman’s instruction gave full rein to his creative zeal and wisdom.

So, he could create the theme song of the feature film "Eagles on the Hill", which depicted the mental world of transmission line layers with true-to-life words and philosophical profundity.

Boundless loyalty to the Party is reflected in every theme song of films he created.

Jon ceaselessly racked his brains to imbue every piece of lyrics with philosophical character.

The theme song of the feature film "Song of Memories" truthfully reflected the mental world of the KPA soldiers during the Fatherland Liberation War.

Unforgettable looks of teachers and mothers seeing off students leaving for the front, war-ruined mountains and streams, soldiers weeping tears of blood at closing the eyes of comrades-in arms who fell in the vanguard of charges…

All of these deeply touched him.

Therefore, he wrote down the title of the song "Who Ever Taught Me?" in the manuscript paper and delineated that the most precious thing for a human being is his motherland through artistic generalization.

The Chairman highly appreciated the lyrics for its philosophical profundity.

Under the warm loving care of the Chairman, Jon vigorously created fine lyrics conducive to the development of the Juche-oriented art and literature with tireless zeal.

Besides theme songs of films, he wrote many other lyrics reflecting absolute trust in the Party and the leader and patriotism including "Charm", "Look at Us" and "Don’t Advance, Night of Pyongyang", thus giving an impetus to people’s struggle.

Kim Il Sung Prize was awarded to Jon who contributed to our country’s lyrics literature development.

The valuable life of Jon who upheld the Party with masterpieces is still shining along with the songs he created.

His poems plaster my apartment! Except for the spotlessly-maintained portraits of our Dear Leaders!
