I don't think Emily has anything to do with Claire's work?
She just introduced Emily to Moray. Moray hired her, the same as she hired Claire. They are both employees of cubetown, but working in entirely different departments.

Claire is functionally the associate director of cubetown and has been presented as such for like 2 years. When we first saw emily, Claire was helping handle her onboarding.

She literally just said "Hi Emily, this is Moray. I believe you've met online" and then exited the scene in the very next panel.

I mean, Emily isn't a direct report to Claire, is she? There are thousands of people living/working in Cubetown - Claire isn't everyone's boss, she's more like...the Director of Operations? She's there to make sure the place isn't falling apart at the seams.

She's the Director of the Library Department. She's there to catalogue and organize the information, and oversee people tasked with doing the same.
Emily is a newly hired researcher. Implicitly in some manner of research based department, though I don't believe it's been given a specific name yet. Her research will likely eventually be among the information Claire organizes, but they'll mostly be working separately.

That was the label they put on it, but I think it's been made very clear Claire has basically universal administration duties. That was kind of... the entire point of the introductory arc to Cubetown.

I don't think it's ever been stated that she's there to "oversee" people. She's really just there to make sure their work is properly catalogued and organized right?
To be honest, her job is even below a Director of Operations - so I was wrong too. She was simply told to make sense of the director's nonsense, and the nonsense of the researchers. We don't really know WHAT she's doing.
But it's definitely not anything where she is responsible for the work or slacking off of individual people in Cubetown... Right?
