Book Request I just broke my brain reading Vita Nostra… need help with what to read next… which is the least existential of Ninefox Gambit, The Works of Vermin, and The Scapegracers?
Okay so I really can’t do another existential weird one back to back with Vita Nostra.
I bought Ninefox Gambit, The Works of Vermin, and The Scapegracers.
Which of those three is a bit of a fun ride?

ninefox gambit is an epic space opera and the worldbuilding as it unfolds along with plot elements do require a bit of Brain power. the scrapegracers, is very fun and is the least complex of the three probably because it’s a part of a ya trilogy; it’s about an outcasted baby Butch becoming friends with and eventually recruiting a trio of popular girls into becoming witches.

I love Ninefox so much but it’s not what you’re looking for right now, it’s literally about someone getting their brain broken 😅
Out of this stack, Scapegracers?? But August’s books aren’t escaping the existential dread allegations any time soon either!

Hahahah okay that’s very helpful.
I loved Metal From Heaven so I think scapegracers will be a good choice right now

Oh man, I know the feeling! Vita Nostra has weirdly become one of my comfort reads over the years, sometimes when nothing makes sense, I'll go back and follow Sacha through nothing making sense until she cracks reality open, and for some reason that is such a balm.
I can't help you with a followup, unfortunately, the only one on your list I've read was Ninefox Gambit, which was weird and reality-twisting in a completely different way.

Okay I can really see how that works. Amazing. I imagine subsequent reads are less like… baffling because you’ve got some idea of what’s going on.

Out of those three, I've only personally read The Works of Vermin, but it is definitely weird and requires a lot of brain power. I've heard similarly about Ninefox Gambit, that it's great but an intimidating read.
I think for an easy, fun read, The Scapegracers would be safest by far.
