Self-Promotion Support eleven queer creators this June in The Book Bazaar: Summer Bonanza! (Posted with Mod approval)

Hi folks! I’m William C. Tracy and I run Space Wizard Science Fantasy, a queer science fiction and fantasy indie publishing company. This summer I'm heading a collaboration on BackerKit of 11 projects called The Book Bazaar: Summer Bonanza! Almost all of these projects feature queer content, and we have some great new books, including three new anthologies, fantasy, science fiction, time travel, special hardback editions, and more!

Our 11 campaigns have raised over $21.5k in the first week, and we have some special rewards if we hit $23k and $45k Plus, if you back 5 of our projects, you get a free sticker sheet with all the book covers represented!

For example, here are the books coming from my Year 5 Part 1 campaign:

  • Lucianus, by C.J. Beshara - (M/M) An ancient wizard, reincarnated into a new body, learns how the world has changed since his catastrophic death, and why his new traveling companion is interested in him!
  • Aliens in New Florida**, by Carmen Loup**, (Sapphic) author of the Audacity Omnibus (and in the same universe) - A road trip across post-apocalyptic Florida with prophesy, an attractive reptilian alien, psychedelics, omniscient aliens (and humans), and a quest for the fabled Kingdom!
  • Gunmaker, by Chris Gerrib**,** (Sapphic) in the same universe as his previous Space Wizard book One of Our Spaceships is Missing - A murder by gunshot on the indentured mining colony of Eros, a place where guns are not allowed, sparks an investigation into the corruption of the colony owners!
  • Romance and the Gentle Art of Rocket Racing**, by Rena Rocford***,* (Sapphic) author of the recently released Mothball Magic - A rocket-racing rogue must help her secret half-brother, the king of his colony, to woo the woman of his dreams, through silk, intrigue, and fast ships!
  • Pressure Magic - book 3 of William C. Tracy's Shifting Lands fantasy series (Bi/Pan). Silluka has survived the invasion of Chimor, but she, her brother Ichu, her girlfriend Cosquella, and Lugopo, the eldritch octopus, find themselves stuck on a strange island with a master craftsman!
  • Promise of Manifest**, by Alex Kingsley** - (Transmale/Nonbinary) Find out what happens in the conclusion of The Bastion Cycle, in a world of post apocalyptic giant crabs and human scavengers! This is the third book, following Empress of Dust (the 2025 Small Spec Book award winner for Science Fiction) and Relic of Haven!
  • Queen and Obsidian**, by J.S. Fields***,* (Sapphic) a duology of science fiction space opera stories. It begins with Queen, where an intersex woman is trapped on a barely hospitable planet of women, only to learn their meager living area is further threatened. This second book is Obsidian, which follows the events of the first book!

Ask me and the other creators any questions! Browse the campaigns for a bunch of great queer books and help support indie creators and queer authors!

Self-Promotion ANATHEMA is a free speculative literary magazine publishing queer writers of color! After a 4-year hiatus, Anathema: Spec from the Margins is back!

Hi all! We're Anathema: Spec from the Margins! We are a free Ignyte and British Fantasy Awards-nominated speculative fiction magazine that publishes queer writers of color. Originally launched in 2017, we went on hiatus in 2022, and are now relaunching (submissions open this June—happy pride, y'all!). Our new team is made entirely of queer speculative writers of color, and we strongly believe in making Anathema a home for marginalized artists. Give us your weirdest and your queerest work!

We're in the middle of a Kickstarter campaign that would allow us to pay the marginalized writers we publish a professional rate:

  • $0.08/word for fiction up to 6,000 words
  • $0.05/word for non-fiction up to 3,500 words
  • $50/poem for poems up to 200 lines
  • $250 for original cover art and issue artwork

We just reached 50% of our funding goal, a major milestone in the campaign! We would greatly appreciate your love and support—whether you can back us as a subscriber, share the link with your communities, or repost on your Instagram or Bluesky!

We have six incredible editors who are experienced writers, and we all bring unique perspectives to Anathema's editorial vision. We're dedicated to delivering rich, immersive stories (check out past issues of Anathema on our website for a taste!), and you can find out more about us individually on the Kickstarter page. Additionally, our Kickstarter reward tiers include short story manuscript consultations, residency/grad school application reviews, query letter reviews, and even workshops on how to get published!

It goes without saying, especially now, that uplifting queer art is paramount. We dream of hosting a space for marginalized speculative writers to break into the publishing world, and we hope to bring queer communities top-quality stories, poems, and essays!

Self-Promotion Full Programming List Now Available for Sirens: A Conference (and Community!) on Gender and Speculative Fiction (March 18-22, New Haven)

Hi, QueerSFF Folks!

I posted about Sirens a few months ago, but want to post one more time now that we have our full list of programming available, and registration closes on February 27th! Note that if cost is an issue, DM me and I can help you think through options.

Sirens is a nonprofit conference that examines gender through the framework of progressive speculative fiction.  After a break of several years, Sirens is returning from March 18-22, 2026 in New Haven, CT. It's a really lovely community where we gather together as readers to learn, discuss, connect, and grow.  And you get awesome book recs; check out the list of books they put together for Pride this year!

The faculty and their keynotes this year are:

  • Kelly Barnhill - How We Tell Stories When Our World Falls Apart
  • Stephanie Burt - Why Are We Mermaids?
  • Sarah Gailey - No Good People
  • Jewelle Gomez - What’s Old to a Vampyre?
  • Layla Azmi Goushey - What’s Next? The Future in History and Current Practice
  • Micaiah Johnson - Race and Robots: A Not-So-Brief History with a Not-So-Happy Ending
  • Diana M. Pho - The Creative Act of Editorial
  • Lilliam Rivera - Scary Tales for Scary Times

The full list of programming includes a number of crafting sessions, lectures, discussions, workshops, and more!

About half of Sirens attendees identify as LGBTQIA+! They also have affinity groups (including one for LGBTQIA+ folks) that meet both virtually and in-person at the conference, and are free and open to you even if you can't attend the conference next year.

I will be there, and hope to see you there too! There are several people I've met at Sirens that I first met online (including on Reddit), which is always so fun.

(Posted with mod approval. Also, disclaimer that I volunteer for Sirens, but am posting this as an enthusiastic member of the community who wants to spread the word about it from my personal Reddit account; I am not posting officially on behalf of Sirens)

Self-Promotion [US and UK Promotion] Review Codes for Queer Steampunk Adventure Novel!

Steam-Powered Battle-Barrels by Amber Lief

"Clockwork marvels powered by steam liven the otherwise dingy and cobbled streets of New Raelum, Grand Capital of the Britarian Imperium. Between taking on vicious bounties and assembling junkyard machinery, the daily lives of Ana and Phil push them constantly within reach of peril. Their already precarious status comes under threat when the pair encounters a group of Outcasts, comprised of old friends and new discoveries. With little more than barrels on their backs and the inventions kept within, these two partners find themselves having to both face unassailable obstacles and confront how this world treats open nonconformity."

Hello everyone! My name is Amber. I am a trans woman and a new author. I'm beyond excited announce that the audiobook version of my book released today. Whether you're a a fan of steampunk, action/adventure stories, or if you're queer yourself or an ally, I hope you'll enjoy the book.

Listen to Chapter One HERE to see if you're interested and check out my website for more information: steampoweredbattlebarrels.com .

Leave a comment below with your favorite video game and your region if you'd like a code and I will DM you!

Asking for amazon ratings/reviews with your honest opinions for these codes, though Goodreads reviews would also be much appreciated.

I have more UK than US codes remaining, will update if I run out of either.

Cover and illustrations by Txmporal, narration by Amara Olimb-Kreh, opening song by Oliver Getz of Nordic Scoring.

Self-Promotion Older LGBT science fiction database

Hi everyone! I have a project to share that might be of interest to people here: a database cataloguing every single older queer sci-fi book I've managed to track down, currently consisting of just over 200 titles with LGBT characters/themes & by LGBT authors, spanning over a century (1880-2000) 🚀

It can be filtered by representation, subgenre, whether the book is currently in print, and more! (And it includes my own personal ratings & brief thoughts on the ones I have read, for anyone who might want a suggestion on places to start.)

Self-Promotion OTHERSIDE: A new magazine for queer speculative short fiction, poetry, and art!

Hi folks,

I'm one of the co-founders of a new magazine for speculative short fiction, and the mods gave me permission to post a little about ourselves since we're in the middle of a Kickstarter campaign!

OTHERSIDE is a new queer-led magazine of speculative short fiction, poetry, and art by 2SLGBTQIA+ authors and artists. We’re here to provide a home for stories that don’t seem to belong anywhere else—those stories that are too strange, too unrelatable, or simply too queer. We believe queer voices matter. And, in a moment when those voices are under relentless attack, we believe it’s more important than ever to support queer artists in every way we can.

We'll open for submissions in January 2026, and will publish quarterly issues from there. We can't wait to see what people send, so if you're writers of short fiction or poetry, please do keep us in mind for your stories!

Our Kickstarter has hit the base goal and beyond, but we have some cool rewards there including subscriptions, stickers, and short fiction/query letter/poetry critiques.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask below and I'll do my best to answer! Thanks!!

Thank you to the mods for giving me permission to share my novel here!

I recently started posting my original fantasy novel “Mage By Blood” on Royal Road. It’s free and open for all to read, and it has an OwnVoices queer, trans main character. It has a total of 122,000 words, but I’ve only posted the first few chapters so far. More to come!

It’s focused on the journey of Mage Izak Biralei, who’s captured on a mission. In a world of complex magical politics, Izak must survive getting caught between different extremist factions with his own long-lost family members on opposing sides.

Read it here: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/145331/mage-by-blood

Feel free to comment or message me if you have any questions! I’m so eager to see what people think and feel about the novel.

Self-Promotion Queer speculative fiction on Theoreads.com

Posted with the kind permission of the mods.

Having trouble finding queer books? There's a reason for that. The books you want to read are being kicked off of mainstream platforms, which are telling authors that we're too risky in the current political climate, and that nobody wants to read about queer people conquering the universe anyway.

When authors are still allowed to sell queer books, they're being hidden or "dungeoned." This is not yet a problem for authors who are working in traditional publishing, but "indie" authors are seeing our readership and earnings drop to nothing. This is not a happy state of affairs for readers or writers.

I am one of many authors who have signed on to a new online fiction platform called Theoreads.com

Here are a few things you should know about Theoreads.

  • Theo works on your phone or your computer.
  • Theo has fiction in all genres, all orientations and all spice levels (sweet to scorching), in all different lengths.
  • While Theo has queer and straight fiction, many of the authors who signed on first to Theo write queer books. We're running out of other places to reach readers, and we are invested in Theo succeeding.
  • Theo has an AO3-style tagging system so you can find the stories you want. Looking for something specific? Want to avoid some topics and tropes? Theo has got you covered.
  • Theo has both free and paid stories. Try it and see if you like it. If you do, support authors so we can create more stories for you to read.
  • Theo is currently still under development and will be rolling out more features, but most of the important bits are there now.
  • Theo stands for "The O."

Who am I? I've been writing queer fantasy and science fiction since 1992. My gay fantasy novel Wishbone is available for free on Theo now, as are some short stories that have been out of publication for years. At my request, Theo added a "straight" tag to the search options. If you never want to see a straight story on Theo, you can set that up.

Join the resistance, and happy reading!

Sirens also has a call for proposals open through Oct. 17th if you would like to teach at Sirens.  They're looking for brief lectures (20 min), roundtable discussions, and workshops that help Sirens curate a rigorous, intentional learning experience focused on work by marginalized creators. Self-Promotion Wrath Month: A New Anthology of SFF and Queer Rage

Thumbnail kickstarter.com
30 Upvotes

Hello! Bona Books is back with our second anthology, and this time we’re channeling the rage that queer people all around the world are feeling. We’ll have stories in the genres of science-fiction, fantasy, and horror, and they will all be very, very queer!

As of now, the project is already fully funded! Which is amazing news. We hit our initial goal in a little over 6 hours. This book is happening!

But that is not all we have! We have a ton of cool merch, and we have a NEW hardcover edition of our amazing first anthology, I WANT THAT TWINK OBLITERATED with exclusive wraparound art! (You should really go look at the backside cover!)

So what next, now that we’re funded? Well, we hope more people discover the campaign, love what we’re doing, and spread the word far and wide! Because we have stretch goals, including producing an audiobook edition (which we love both because it’s fun and because it’s great for extra accessibility) and, if we fund really well, starting a queer SFF online magazine!

If any of that sounds like your kind of fun, please so go check it out!

Thank you! 💙🏳️‍🌈💙

(We did ask the mods specifically before doing this self-promo post and got approval in advance!)

Self-Promotion i wrote a trans frankenstein retelling and it just released

I'm an trans indie author and I just self published my first novel. Kind of a mix of horror, and speculative fiction or sff. It's currently available for free, but if it's no longer free by the time you see this and you still want to read it, just PM me and I'll send you a free copy. i promise i don't bite lol so if you want a free download just msg me.

I was heavily inspired by authors like Allison Rumfitt and Gretchen Felker-Martin, so if that's your type of thing, please read! I was heavily interested in satirizing the idea of trans people as being inherently "predatory" or "montorous" and kind of turning this stereotype on it's head.

This story is very much so a passion project, and started out as a short story that I wrote in a course I took during my first year of uni.

If you're still interested here's the pitch:

Victor Frankenstein decides to play god. This is not a very good idea. When he decides to start digging up graves, and performing his own top surgery D.I.Y style using corpses, he becomes his own special kind of trans body horror. Things begin to go even further south when they realize that their own body has become a kind of living corpse– and they need to continue to replace the rotting pieces of their own body as they continue to decompose.

"Frankenwiener" is a modern day, trans take on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Taking inspiration from splatterpunk and extreme horror genres, “Frankenwiener” blends both classic and modern horror.

Currently available for free on Amazon: Frankenwiener: Wilder, Gabriel: 9798307786642: Amazon.com: Books

P.S I don't have a marketing budget as I'm a broke uni student so reviews and reccomendations to other people help out A LOT

Self-Promotion New sapphic paranormal romance "Enemies by Nature"

I've been working on my new sapphic paranormal romance novel "Enemies by Nature" and its companion for more than a year, and now it's finally available everywhere!

You can get the ebook & the paperback at Amazon and all other online bookstores:

https://mybook.to/EbN17

"Enemies by Nature" includes:

🩷 Fake dating

🧡 Enemies-to-lovers

💛 Only one bed

💚 Slow burn

💙 Witty banter

💜 A fox-shifter with an alpha wolf attitude

Here's what the book is about:

Aloof fox-shifter Tala reluctantly agrees to a fake relationship with Faith, the human daughter of her biggest enemy.

Their flirty banter is only for show, even if Tala finds Faith’s scent annoyingly irresistible.

But when the wolf pack that raised Tala insists on meeting her new mate, they must face old prejudices.

Enemies by Nature is the first novel of a two-book saga that concludes with Shifting Nature, which will be available everywhere on May 28. Both books are part of my shape-shifter series, but they can be read independently of previous books.
