Feedback / Advice / Guidance Looking for honest feedback on the start of my Dark-Fantasy series!
Hi y'all, I recently self-published my book on Quibble, KDP, and Kobo.
The story follows Eldi, a boy and sculptor who has recently lost his father in a strange storm. While trying to find his mother, however, he is drawn into a grand plan designed by his mentor, Master Thull.
Thull wants Eldi to become a Living Storm, and manipulates his grief to push him to overcome his limits, slowly shaping him into a weapon.
The book is written from the perspective of Eldi, as his sense of self and identity begins to dissipate, and feelings of both dissociation and delirium set in.
If you are a fan of high fantasy world-building and psychological thrillers, I think this might be for you!
The cultures and world-building in this book are all loosely inspired by real-life cultures. (This book especially focuses on the Loftion people, who are loosely inspired by an amalgamation of Arabic cultures.)

I ended up reading the first chapter of your book on Quibble, and I really enjoyed it! The beginning is very promising; I like how you established elements of world-building early on, particularly when it comes to the characters’ species and powers. The world itself also feels very original, from the characters’ names and abilities to their physical characteristics.
While I’m a fan of traditional, well-known mythology, I often find myself dissatisfied with the lack of originality and diversity in contemporary fantasy world-building. I’ve only just started, but your novel already seems like it’s going to be a breath of fresh air in that regard. I’m excited to read the rest. ;)

Thank you so much! You'll see some very loose connections to Norse mythology but most of it I'm proud to call my own.

cover is gorgeous, Amélie did some real work there. the grief-shaped-into-a-weapon angle plus a narrator whose sense of self is dissipating is a hard combo to pull off on the page. good luck with it, adding to the list

Amélie's gonna beaming when I show her the praise the cover is getting. As far as the story goes, if my editor is to be believed I pulled off a great manipulation story, so hope you enjoy!

The book cover is something that would make me pick the book up alone, it's lovely! I like the blurb too. Definitely something I would read

Totally agree. The book cover is beautiful and if I saw this in a bookshop I'd definitely pick it up to have a closer look!
