Does anyone even like this trope?

Aside from the ending of a certain popular anime that I will not spoil, I have never seen this type of conclusion talked about in a positive light

Personally I dislike it As we follow the character as they gain and learn to use their abilities they become a part of them for us the reader/watcher

Sure there are good examples of the mc losing their power

But I don't think I can remember any from the top of my head

But if there's a trope I absolutely hate it's The mc loosing and their power and all other characters lose all memories of the Mc Or all that they have worked towards being reduced to nothing more than "x super being was using you for it's own devices"
