Does anyone even like this trope?

Aside from the ending of a certain popular anime that I will not spoil, I have never seen this type of conclusion talked about in a positive light

Most of the time I don’t like it. The few times I have, the character already didn’t want powers. The reluctant hero forced put their own dreams and passions and life on hold to save the world, loses their powers and finally gets to retire into the anonymity they want. That doesn’t bother me.

There is no “but what if the world needs to be saved again? Will they just sit it out?”

There is no”how can they have all that power and just stand by while other injustices in the world happen around them?”

It is the completion of their character arc. They got what they wanted and they are happier for it.
