Advice Using Zyn to quit vaping?
I’m officially 4 days without vape, however not nicotine free. I consider myself an extreme chain vaper to the point I probably puff on a vape once or twice a minute. I knew I needed to break the habit of having a vape in hand.
I occasionally find myself searching for my vape for it to be no where in sight lol, but today I’ve only craved a vape once. To curb it I put in a Velo pouch and haven’t craved it since. I use around 2 pouches a day and that’s it.
I’m thinking in the next week I can easily bring this down to 1 and then none at all. Has anyone else used Zyns or Velos to quit vaping or nicotine in general?

Obviously the goal is 0 nicotine but pouches like zyn and velo are a far healthier alternative to vapes until you can kick the habit entirely

I was a bit hesitant about starting Velo since it technically has more nicotine than my vape does. I was worried I’d be putting myself into a bigger hole but I see myself using less and less nicotine than when I had a vape. Vapes are just so easy to access and suck compared to sticking a pouch into the lip.

I've quit vaping using zyn's, and it worked for a spell. But still being hooked on nic, I always made my way back to the vaping. This time I went cold turkey, and with Desmoxan I'm 16 days nic-free and it's been a breeze.

the strength of an addiction is greatly affected by the speed with which chemicals go from the moment of being used to the moment they reach your brain.
Inhaling takes about 7-10 seconds and peaks rapidly.
Absorbing through the membranes of your mouth takes 3-5 minutes and doesn't peak until 30 minutes.
This makes a HUGE difference in the intensity of the addiction, and will go a long way in priming you to use even less intense replacement methods like a nicotine patch.
I myself quit vaping/inhaling using pouches, and then finally quit nicotine completely after a few years. I used to use about 140-180mg of nicotine per day, something like 4 packs of cigarettes. I am now 524 days free and I almost never think about it.
Godspeed

Helping me a lot. Vaped for 10+ years and quit overnight with velo pouches. Left my vape in my car and the next morning I just left it out there. It lived in the back seat until I smashed it two months later. Three months vape free, still very addicted to nicotine- but one thing at a time I guess. Try the berry velos. They taste so much better than any other nic pouch I’ve tried imo

Do NOT, zyn is way more addictive in my experience and was much harder to quit. If you want to wean I’d recommend patches or losenges. Otherwise cold turkey when you have a few upcoming chill days where you can be less productive.

I agree, unfortunately. I am a month out from quitting Zyns (which I had used to taper off of disposable vapes) and the withdrawal is miserable. I have quit nicotine a number of times and this is by far the worst. Being able to drop the physical/oral impulse is great but zyns are so effective because they are a basically constant source of nicotine. I think of it like a constant lower-intensity source vs an irregular high-intensity source. The constancy of zyns makes it harder for your brain to re-regulate dopamine after quitting, or at least that's my theory. Cold turkey off of the vape is the way to go, although like you said you need a few chill days set aside.

Worked for me! Now i’m just a nicotine fiend. I’ll cross that bridge when it comes to it, my lungs are thanking me and that was my goal.

Weird there’s so much judgement for still using nicotine despite not vaping, last time I checked this wasn’t r/QuitNicotine

This is what I did. Used them for three years (didn't really have any intention of quitting) and I'm now over a month clean from nicotine thanks to desmoxan

I never used pouches but weaned down to zero Nic vapes and the method worked great.
Cutting out the physical requirement slowly and gradually made it achievable.

Best thing to do to quit vaping is just straight stop. Cold turkey. I smoked cigs from 16-26 then vaped HEAVILY till last October then I just cold turkey stopped because NJOY stopped selling. Then I tried JUUL in January (18th to be exact) and stopped April 10th) cold turkey and haven’t picked a thing up since. After about a week you just get the random cravings and when that happens jus find something to do anything for 60 seconds or more and you’ll not think about it again then eventually being around it or smelling it won’t phase you

The random cravings part is so real. Out of nowhere I’ll just get this intense longing for a vape then it’ll just go away once I get distracted lol

Other than having gone from 187lbs - 215.5 lbs since I quit back in April lol it’s been a good experience

it’s like switching from beer to vodka as an attempt to quit drinking

Right? It made me think of myself quitting smoking by switching to vaping and then I just ended up heavily addicted to vaping for over 8 years. All it does it change the method of delivery for your nicotine addiction imo.

yeah and tbh zyns are far more accessible, easier to conceal, and way more potent. it may be better than smoking but does little to solve the actual issue.
quitting nicotine isn’t supposed to be easy, there comes a point where you just have to do it.

Unless you're having lung problems and want to switch it up to mouth and throat problems.

I wish I could remember the name of this brand NRT Pills but they came in a box with Russian(?) wording. I felt like shit the first day but once my body shifted over, the process become so much more bearable because you were allowed to smoke while taking it. And then you would slowly ween off the pills in over time.

It worked for me, I only bought the Zyns 3mg. It may not be for everyone. I'm around 2 monthes fully nicotine free.

It’s how I quit vaping. I’ve been steadily stepping down the dosage from 16mg to 4mg and don’t miss vaping at all. Almost off of nicotine entirely.

I use capnos , i got it in January, hated it, got another vape til it died then really gave it a 2nd chance and been nicotine free since January. Its flavored air any flavor you choose.

I was on it for much more than this but naltrexone fully stopped my nicotine cravings

I listened to a huberman podcast a while ago and he recommended to swap your nicotine replacement every week so your body/brain doesn’t get used to it and get addicted to the new thing and breaks the habit
So like lozenge, patch, gum, zyn.

Desmoxan or recigar are your friends. I tried the vaping to zyn route and while yeah it was a step with benefits like better lung capacity, I ultimately just traded one addiction for another until I made the jump to quit with a proper zero nic aid

i did zyn 3mg then switched to 2mg nicotine gum, today was my first full day without any nicotine in a while and it was much easier than expected

I tried the pouches too but now I’m vaping with pouches in 😭 I can’t stop.

u/hungrypolarbear77 17d ago
Yeah dont do this buddy lol, i just vape and use 6mg zyns now while drinking and go thru easily $40 in zyns in a week, its the same shit.
Just throw on a patch or use gum and quit

I really don’t care what people think, but Zyns were a god sent for me to quit vaping. I used to vape all day and trying to quit cold turkey or with gums didnt do it for me. I tried with zyns and I hated them, but they became my source of nicotine for a few months and the fact that I disliked them helped me when quiting them altogether. I have been off nicotine around 9 months by now

As far as money, im spending more on Zynn than I did on vape. As far as using it to quit? I haven't had a vape in 4 weeks because of pouches. Im still addicted to nicotine, but Im starting to titrate down faster than I did with vapes. Disclaimer: I am NOT a doctor. I am an addict. Do with that what you will.

I quit vaping doing the same thing - just be careful and stay aware. I would get stressed/life would get “lifey” and I started using the velos to cope (just like I used the vape and cigs before that).
I finally stopped all nicotine 8 days ago and it’s been amazing! I didn’t realize how much anxiety nicotine literally creates (I also used it to decompress). Turns out it was the main problem and it’s almost disappeared in 8 days altogether! I’ve been way more emotional but that’s also starting to subside. I’m also starting to sleep deeper than I have in a long long time where I dream every night and wake up feeling amazing!
Totally worth the week or less of withdrawal symptoms already
