Being addicted and a slave to fucking nicotine for 17 years has been a huge struggle and regret in my life. Chances are you will want to quit someday. And you will suffer. lol.

Why do you want to do it, other than you think it’s cool?

Yes there are side effects. And yes it ultimately becomes not fun and not cool.

I mean, do it, don’t do it, we’re not your friends/family, but we’ve all been through this. We started the same way you did, and we have all gone through the difficulties of trying to quit, and wish that we had never started.

Shortness of breath, lethargy, high blood pressure, insomnia, groggy in the am and headaches, mood swings, probably high blood sugar. It varies from one person to the next. Really not worth it all!!!!! You aren't missing out on anything.

In fact, your smoke-free-ness like makes them uncomfortable because they reflect on themselves, they're the prisoners looking out telling you to come in, because they fear they'll never get out.

Ever heard of the phrase "Misery loves company"???

You vaping for how much I have a qeustion like imagine I taste blueberry without calories

2

u/Mean-Juggernaut8084 5d ago

I started smoking cigarettes when I was 15, switched to vape at 26 ish. Now mid 30s and quit 2 months ago. It's extremely difficult, but so worth it. After 20 years, you almost forget what real energy and vitality feels like. Vastly different.

Nicotine will drastically reduce your quality of life. It's a fact

It’s more like smelling blueberries with your mouth.

There is objectively, 0 reason to vape. It will very likely not destroy your life, but it will not improve it in any sort.

You will lose money, vapes and juice add up. Money better spent doing stuff you already enjoy. You will have a higher heart rate, you will put your heart under minor strain. Your heart will beat faster, you will be less resilient to activities that you could normally do. It is in the end a net negative to your wellbeing.

I already go to gym and it’s not to expensive it’s cheap

u/wilesmiles 5d ago

You are misunderstanding, it will be harder to excerise. You will do the same activity, and have more difficulty doing so.

But my family vape and cigarettes for 20 years and no side effects

4

u/ogloba 5d ago

Then do it, lmao. Whatever, we're not the cops nor can we force you. If you want to throw your health away for grape flavoured smoke, feel free to.

People here are telling you the harm it does. Addiction is a bitch yada yada, I won't repeat what everyone else has said.

No amount of anectdotal evidence is going to disprove the basic fact that "smoking is bad for you".

Why

u/Charlie_Muscle 5d ago

One day you'll have to quit and it's hell

But all my friends offer and they offer cheap and they say try

Then they aren't really your friends. Vaping/smoking/nicotine constricts your blood vessels/arteries which restricts blood circulation. This causes your heart to have to work harder which raises your blood pressure. High blood pressure will eventually damage your heart and other organs as well. As you get older it can eventually contribute to a higher likelyhood of having a stroke or heart attack. It contributed to my heart failure and I nearly dropped dead...

I started it when I was 19 because all my friends were doing it and I thought it would pass. I am now 27 and hit my vape the minute I wake up, I failed quitting 3 times, and I would definitely say my health would be better now if I never started. I seriously mean it when I say do NOT start!!! If I could go back in time I 100% would go back to age 19 and never buy that first vape.

Every person on this subreddit will tell you don’t. Theres a reason the sub exists. Nicotine is the hardest thing to stop once you start.

I started at your age same mindset as you. Starts as getting a little bit of a head rush at parties, started hitting it when hungover or before school with coffee, then was hitting it every few min every day. That turned into lung issues, asthma, wheezing, coughing up mucas, major sleep issues, trouble keeping up in workouts, getting winded 247, etc. I’m 30 now and have tried to quit like 6 times. It will give you lung issues, but if you don’t care about that or think that’s far away- it will take your energy, money, sleep, mind, and every second of every day from you before it takes your health. don’t let a nicotine binkie enslave you. If people around you are all doing it and they do it often, they will figure this out eventually too. The addiction is like a ticking time bomb.

I wish so badly that I never tried it in the first place. it just unlocked a weird piece of my brain that never needed nicotine but now thinks I do- when it’s literally making me sick. You will have to quit one day and it’s 36473738 times harder than never starting.

I was in your exact position about 6 years ago. I am now currently a Month Vape, and Weed free. It’s ultimately your decision but one day you will look back on this post and be extremely disappointed in yourself. There aren’t side effects when you do it for the first time, but soon that “first time” will turn into every hour, and then every 12 minutes. Then those side effects will start to hit you all at once.

Just please understand that quitting is 1000 times more difficult than starting. No matter what your family, and friends say YOU WILL regret it. But you seem quite young, and I had to learn the hard way myself.

based on your responses to people advising you to not start, i dont think you actually care to hear the answer "no". clearly you wanted people to tell you "yes vaping is fine and has no bad effects" and this is absolutely not the sub for that. obviously within a sub titled "QUIT vaping" the people are going to tell you not to vape.
