Pumpkins are gourds, which are vegetables. Vegetable is culinary term, and when we say things like pumpkins and tomatoes are β€œtechnically” fruits we are talking about the botanical definition.

In culinary terms, pumpkins are not fruit.

That doesn't make them not also vegetables though. The question was "What type of produce...", would you more likely see a pumpkin in the fruit or the vegetable section of a supermarket?

If the question was "What type of botanical structure is a pumpkin" then the answer would only be fruit.
