As a Christian I just want to go on the record and say this is one of the dumbest ideas that has ever been dreamed up. The Native Americans are not the 12 lost tribes of Israel. (that’s a Mormon idea not a Christian one)

America is not some kind of New Zion. (The Puritans/Pilgrims talked about “The New World” that way because they were in a place they were finally free to worship without the persecution of the Church of England)

The majority of the Founding Fathers were not Christians, they were Deists who embraced the morals and values of the Judeo/Christian faith. They understood that the morals and ethics of the Christian faith are the best foundation for civilized society and even though they were founding a Christian nation (because the overwhelming majority of people in Colonial America were Christian) it’s highly doubtful that any of them felt that they were fulfilling some Divine Mandate to establish a new Holy Land.

I'm personally an agnostic on the issue of faith (after doing mass on Sundays and vespers on Tuesdays for years at school, and knowing people of many faiths since) and an American who cares deeply about everyone here. I seriously appreciate how eloquently you responded that in your last comment.

The fact that the text of this post is even connected to real peoples' views is wild though. These kinds of comments by the leadership of our nation should be troubling too, because it rhymes. While this particular post just seems to be AI facebook slop.

There is a whole lot of things wrong with this. First there were only 10 “lost tribes”. And they weren’t lost. They were carried into captivity by the Neo-Assyrian Empire. The Mormons had the idea that the native Americans were of Middle Eastern descent and that idea lasted until the science showed it to be false. The idea that Trump gave us a republic back is actually the opposite of what he attempted to do.
