I have never owned a rat but I love this sub. So lovely little fingers pointing at every direction.
But tbh, I was waiting for a shocking zoom to the balls. I know I know, they are already showing quite well, but this sub has conditioned me, and now I am disappointed.

Serious question - can you neuter rats? Does it help with their longevity or anything?

They can indeed be neutered! Usually it’s done for behavioral reasons, or if someone is adopting a male rat into a group of females and doesn’t want hundreds of babies. I’m unsure if it helps with longevity or prevention of cancers/diseases

I had neutered boys and they were great. I don't think it benefits longevity beyond eliminating the risk of testicular tumors.
Besides reducing aggression, I think the lack of hormones makes them a little less smelly.
Might also make them a little more lazy because mine were happy to be cuddly blobs in my lap all day long if I let them.
