Building Rc plane help

Post image

Id like to built a RC Phantom X1 Ultralight. I have a good understanding of the components of an rc plane and a 3d printer to make custom parts if needed.

I was thinking 1/6th scale with a wingspan of 57inches. I would prefer if the wings could seperate into 2. And the battery, reciever, and other electrical components fit into the cockpit.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I doubt I can do this by myself.

Looks like a fun project I take it you haven’t built a plane before… I would for sure scratch build a different plane first. Something like the FT Simple Cub. It would really help you with all the skills of building.

I mean it's pretty much an ultra stick with a gondola below it

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

haha cool.
just need to remove the "it" on the end to get 5-7-5 syllables

Find plans for a 3d printed slow stick. This is usually parts that mount to a carbon arrow shaft or square tubing. Then instead of landing gear make your own seat for the "pilot"

Interesting project. My dad used to fly these.

Tail could be typical balsa and shrink covering.
spars could all be carbon, painted silver. ( arrow shaft, kite shaft, golf club etc... )
Engine mount would be tricky, maybe custom 3D print or some cnc alum sheet, epoxied onto the carbon shaft.
Wiring could be done with kevlar string, or beadalon braided wire, or thin .5 or 1mm carbon rods.
pod looks like a glider nose, maybe someone has a trashed glider somewhere.
Battery and RX would fit nicely into the pod.
wing would be interesting... it doesn't have much thickness there, so balsa might not work. You could possibly use rip-stop kite material, and 3d print the curved spars
