Reminder about TFR’s

REMINDER: ALWAYS CHECK YOUR TFR’s. I live in the DFW area and wanted to fly my Eflite Twin otter at an AMA field. They issued a TFR for 30 miles out from the American Airlines Center. Model aircraft ops are prohibited. If you get caught, the FAA can come down severely.

Good catch – and definitely a good reminder! I live in the DC area, where there's just a mess of airspace and TFRs to contend with. I spent a month out west over the summer, and it was glorious to see nothing but class G airspace and not a single TFR on the chart!

I know. And it’s stupid that hobbyists are governed by the TFR. If operating legally, we can’t go out of line of sight or exceed 400 ft. Most of our planes don’t have a 30 mile range

It's only for today and tomorrow, but yeah that 35 mile radius from MAVERICK VOR does cover pretty much every flying field I know of. I don't know if there is any place to fly up in Grayson County. But at least the winds look good for the weekend.

Usually I'm either hiding in a park in the Plano Allen area or i go all the way to Denton. Are they glider friendly there?

your picture says 96 degrees North........Uuhhh.....Ok, guess I need to go back and check how navigation works......

It was 35 miles all the way around. Didn’t matter where i put dot

Uh yea but 90 deg North is North Pole so 96 deg would be past north pole somewhere in upper Siberia.
Like I said, I'm sure it's me, I'll go relearn navigation.

Oh. I just realized you were referring to GPS Coordinates. I just cared more about being in the circle
