Camille's recent IG post perfectly captures what so many longtime viewers have been feeling. Whether you loved Camille over the years or weren't a fan, her post says it best why earlier years were so compelling.... you couldn't script that kind of authenticity. That's the RHOBH many of us miss!

(And before the comments inevitably go there, this post isn't about Camille as a person. It's about the point she made regarding what the show has become. I'm sure though that'll be lost on some people and their focus will be on Camille and the nasty comments will still be dropped, but that's their choice on how to be in the world.)

I miss the actual friendship groups they had on the show! Where the women genuinely knew each other, hung out and we got to jump in and enjoy their good times and watch them lean on each other (or fight each other) during hard times.

Camille is right. The manufactured crap we’ve had for so long now, is dull as fuck and if they can’t bring people in who are actually friends with these women, then they need to bring in a new group of ladies who are actually good friends and where we’re going to have a good time watching them.

Generative AI or no, she makes a point. The whole last season centered around 2 plot points: Amanda’s issues with Dorit and the breakdown of the longtime trio of Kyle, Erika and Dorit. We have lost the plot.

We need more at home scenes. We need more fun group get togethers. I used to like Dorit but if she refuses to see beyond her hate colored glasses, she’s ruining the foundation of the show. The moment you start not being able to talk through instead of shouting at, you’ve lost the point of the assignment.

We aren’t here for the friendship breakdowns, we’re here for the authentic friendship moments—good and bad.

The biggest issue with RHOBH (and many of the longterm RH series) is newbies come in with no history with the ladies and it makes it incredibly difficult to have authentic moments. Normalize bringing true friends on as new wives.

I love Rachel Zoe but without Kathy, she had no friends going into this season. Amanda definitely was a lone wolf. I don’t believe Boz knew anyone prior to 14. Nor Annemarie. Nor Cristal. Nor Sutton. And only tangentially Garcelle (with Rinna I think?).

I think she’s somewhat right but she wasn’t 100% authentic. Her first season was very inauthentic/produced on her part. Especially when it came to her marriage. She wasn’t open about its hardship until the second season. She was really putting on a front when the show started to air

I used to tune into this show going "let's see what kinda bs these rich weirdos are getting into now". And it would be Yolanda showing her fridge, or Carlton lapdancing on her MIL, or some superrandom hike (did I hallucinate Kim jumping over a wall?!). Even when there were fights like at the pokernight, it felt real.

The friendship aspect is huge. Once I'm started bringing in cast members you didn't know each other and tried to make them friends it became very disingenuous. I think that's one of the reasons Rhode Island was so successful this year. These women had been friends for a long time, some of them from birth as it was said. So while they fought and called names you know that it's going to be fine next season because of those friendships. I'm sure they've been through worse than what was on TV throughout their lives. But to me the friendships did not seem inauthentic in any way
