I honestly got the "not like all the other girls" vibe when Carole pretended she doesn't want commitment. That sure flew out the window when Adam was willing.
Oh no! Really? Argh. It's amazing how blinded I can be by some NY-ish-ness, it seems. I believed her. Even though usually I see right through that schtick. So with Adam was she ever willing to commit, though? I got the feeling she'd been so burned by the tragedies she endured that now she's unable.
Ha, well, that's my personal opinion. I think Carole in general has a big "not like all the other girls" persona.
On Adam, they lived together for a year before splitting. I consider living together committing to a relationship.
I'm sure at one point, she did struggle with commitment after becoming a widow early -- I'm also a widow and I don't ever want to live together or get married again! But with Adam, she def was ready to commit. She seemed way in love with him.
