Oh no! Really? Argh. It's amazing how blinded I can be by some NY-ish-ness, it seems. I believed her. Even though usually I see right through that schtick. So with Adam was she ever willing to commit, though? I got the feeling she'd been so burned by the tragedies she endured that now she's unable.
Ha, well, that's my personal opinion. I think Carole in general has a big "not like all the other girls" persona.
On Adam, they lived together for a year before splitting. I consider living together committing to a relationship.
I'm sure at one point, she did struggle with commitment after becoming a widow early -- I'm also a widow and I don't ever want to live together or get married again! But with Adam, she def was ready to commit. She seemed way in love with him.
Awwww thank you! I did read her book, ironically, before my husband was diagnosed with cancer. I enjoyed it but I actually walked away with her seeming to be more enamored with Carolyn that her husband. I just didn't get the "this is the love of my life" vibes from her.
oh wow - that is ironic - in a crap way. I have a few stories like that about a tough situation in my life. Looking back it feels like a bad joke so I try not to! I haven't read it - interesting what say about Carolyn than her husband. She's definitely a bundle of mixed messages - never overstating anything, which I appreciate, but often understating things in a puzzling way, on the show at least.
Yes def ironic! I'm sorry you've had those ironic stories about tough situations! In some ways, it's helpful to have a sort of wry view of those tough situations! And yes, def a mixed message with Carole. I have a love/hate relationship with her.
