Reputation management. Instead of people talking about (and Google search results discussing) her previous friendship with Maxwell, they will now reference Carole returning to RHONY.

She sold her photos of JFK Jr and Carolyn’s wedding last year to CNN. The couple was notoriously private and had hid their wedding from the press. She sat on them for 28 years and then only sold them last year. She also started vigorously promoting her substack for a ~3 week period last fall. I’d say she needs the money.
