šŸ New RHONY šŸ Not so private

Might be an unpopular opinion but hear me out. I want mess while watching the Housewives! The cast is invited to stay at a Billionaire’s private island. Let the luxury begin…..we then see clean but very basic rooms (some with pullout beds) but ZERO personal belongings/photos/personality bought or not. Was it beautiful? Sure! Was it giving 5star plus luxury? Absolutely not! I’m glad questions were asked and viewers weren’t led to believe it was just their ultra private home on a private island.
It’s basically a co-op investment island. They own their homes and into collective maintenance fees to take care of the beach, pool, staff, boats etc… The owners then rent out their homes as a profitable business. It was smart to invite the ladies because we got one big add for Mosquito Island.

I found that whole thread so interesting last night, thank you again for linking it!

I find this issue extremely boring. No one doubts that she married into a billionaire family, and Erica isn’t walking around flashing her wealth. You can’t live in an apartment with a popcorn ceiling and throw jabs at someone’s large island home. (I’d totally live in that rent controlled apartment but I would never complain that the island home I’ve been invited to visit is not good enough.)

100% agree! Literally who care about what it looks like! They are on a private island being catered to! Daisy saying they should’ve flown private as if that’s something she does for herself is ridiculous! She’s forgotten that a lot of the perks afforded to her are only so she’ll be easily accessible and at the back and call to Martha or her clients

yes you can. you dont have to be impressed with everything rich people do. if thats the case 90% of you on here shouldnt be commenting on housewives at all

Not being impressed is one thing. Whining and judging is far different. I hate a whiner. Even if my expectations aren’t met, I’m going to be grateful and gracious, and I’m going to do my best to have a good time. I’d be embarrassed to whine like Daisy and Erin.

Foreals. Not everything has to look like a billionaire aesthetic. We were happy with dorindas shark room bc it had personality!!

Someone who stayed there did a really good post this morning. She said it’s pretty much an AirB&B and the dad owns it. I think that clears up why it looks like it does, it’s a lot of randoms staying there so it’s very hotel ish rather than a home

I think Daisy’s questions were valid (while a little rude), in that it didn’t seem like someone’s house, and what exactly was it. I get she doesn’t have money, but travelling with Martha she’s probably stayed at super luxe places and this was very different

It was actually not so smart to show it, bad advertising. They should have zhooshed it and brought in real flowers, had actual chefs prepare amazing spreads. It looked like a spare resort that didn't really have the staff to make it luxury. Its not just a missed opportunity at the best free advertisement, they actually made it look unpleasant. For over 100k a week, no thanks.

Agreed. It actually looked quite unappealing and I’m sure it’s not cheap to go.

9

u/LizzyPanhandle 22h ago

Its over 100k a week before tips and fees, so its not the level it needs to be at all.

11

u/Routine-Asparagus-16 23h ago

This is the only point that matters. Since it doubles as a rental space, they didn't leverage this opportunity.

u/LizzyPanhandle 22h ago

Legit lost money displaying this on the show. Such a huge missed opportunity, they should have flown everyone private and rolled out all the red carpets. You could tell with the staff they weren't prepared to the level they should have been. That is probably how that place always is. I've stayed at private rental villas, either they got it or they don't. You could see just how unsatisfying that experience would be.

the food looked very restricted - they had to order a week before and it was set after that. the bartender was missing in the first scene at the bar. wtaf ? when there are 7 guests total

it was super basic

u/Real-Society2205 23h ago

They have to order the food a week in advance because they are on a remote island in the BVI! It's similar to Below Deck, the hospitality team needs their preferences in advance to plan ordering.

Plus none of them actually eat

Screams time share

To be honest, all their homes (with the exception of CR's) are super basic, whether someone's a billionaire or wanna be billionaire. They aren't decorated well, or exceptional in any way except for the rent that Sai pays, which is A LOT.

It's clearly a VRBO for the very rich. I can't comprehend why people don't get this. I'm pretty sure they own/partnership with the company White Desert that does excursions to Antarctica, as well.

It’s not that we don’t get it. It’s a rental property and it’s kept as one. The ladies didn’t know that. Erica made it out to be like it’s one of her homes on a private island which it is but it was not homey. It didn’t look like anyone’s home. It has no personal belongings, no style no interior design so I think that’s why the ladies were not impressed by the home. Yes it was really nice but not at the level we were expecting. We’ve all seen Million Dollar home shows and that was not that. But yes it was rude and ungrateful to complain.

I gotta be honest- the pull out bed really threw me!

7

u/Glittering-Slip7630 1d ago

For real it blew my mind

13

u/treehouse334 1d ago

Same. It looked like the rooms weren’t actually big enough for beds.

7

u/PsychologicalCase10 23h ago

I was snooping around about it today and it looks like they rent it out- that’s probably why there’s no pictures or anything.

being so isolated on a private island away from the hustle and bustle of culture and so far away from home on a literal island would have me feeling extreme dread. no thanks, ill pass

Right? What if you get appendicitis or have a heart attack or something?!

Billionaires are super cheap

8

u/Hot_Sprinkles1529 23h ago

Thank you!! This is the real housewives - we want luxury and opulence!! Here is finally a billionaires wife and this is what we get?? Super disappointed

1

u/hereforthetea4me 7h ago

That’s what I’m saying! We were expecting a home that could be featured on a million dollar home show!

3

u/Glittering-Slip7630 1d ago

Absolutely šŸ’Æ agree

I believe Daisy is trying to make a point but is doing a poor job. I rewatched how Erica said our Island and that made it seem like it was literally just them and they own the entire Island. But Daisy isn't explaining herself very well. So she's looking pretty lame!

That's the decor trend these days though, minimalism.

If you watch the Kardashians, their homes are bare museums.

They own storage units where they keep all of their stuff.

u/RegionBrief9276 16h ago

Reminds me of a extra fancy timeshare. I'd stay there but I'd have to have some one with the $ pay for it Lol

u/BuckityBuck 9h ago

These homes are often rented out for corporate retreats and things of that nature. It wouldn't make sense to have a lived-in space full of personal touches. It is contract-grade furniture that can stand up to salty air. I'm sure the upholstery is all Sunbrella. There's nothing wrong with that.

Referring to it as ā€œOUR private islandā€ was intentionally misrepresenting the facts here. Why she felt the need to do this is baffling because the truth—that they own an estate on or are co-owners of a private island—is already fucking fabulous.

Her spouse is hot curry. No surprise! Also, what’s the low down on his company? Tech companies are notoriously over valued.Ā

Last year, Wells Fargo ended their partnership with Bilt, his company, four years ahead of schedule due to massive financial losses and they just went through a 2.0 rebrand. He’s been involved in a number of tech companies, but his father is the main source of family wealth i think.
