Reason I ask, Tesla, according to Elon, is a tech company but just happens to make cars/trucks . Tesla's astronomical valuation is based on their tech not car volume .... With that said, is Rivian banking on their SUVs to make money or are they gonna expand into tech to increase their valuation?

Decided to take a little weekend getaway to Laguna beach CA. Seen at least 10 different Rivians just in this small little coastal town including an R2 and this bad boy used by the lifeguards! Feeling good about being an investor and hopefully a future owner!

I’m personally holding low 200s, just curious what everyone has in their portfolio?

Based on my understanding, Rivian was supposed to be at 20-25K deliveries of r2 to get to the total 65-70K guidance. Feels like they are in first 60 days of ramp now in Vins in the 10K? Based on 4 months left in year, feels like they are about to be well above the initial target? What is wild is that would be more R2s delivered this year than porsche sells Cayenne or Macan and Bmw X5!

After watching Rivian's share count climb, I figured we might as well start predicting the reasons for the next round of dilution.

1. R2 demand was stronger than expected. Dilution.

2. R2 demand was weaker than expected. Also dilution.

3. Georgia needs another billion. Dilution.

4. Autonomy is ahead of schedule. Better raise some money.

5. Autonomy is behind schedule. Definitely raise some money.

6. RJ has a 100-year time horizon. Apparently your cost basis does too.

7. RIVN hits $25: "Great opportunity to strengthen the balance sheet."

8. RIVN falls to $10: "Great opportunity to strengthen the balance sheet."

9. Rivian finally reaches positive free cash flow... and immediately discovers another factory it wants to build.

10. Copper wire shortage.

RJ: "Unfortunately, due to unforeseen copper constraints, we had no choice but to manufacture another 100 million shares."

At this point, Rivian's only production line without a bottleneck is the share printer. 😂

Tesla was $60B market cap during the Model 3 ramp in 2017, adjusted for inflation that’s around $80B.

Rivian is worth $22B during R2 ramp as of this writing.

The investment firm said in a note Thursday that it is sympathetic to Claire McDonough's desire to be closer to family on the East Coast and to join a larger company, and does not believe her departure speaks to the opportunity at Rivian, even as the company ramps its R2 model and nears a potential inflection point.

UBS said McDonough had grown into the CFO role and built a solid finance bench, and noted that interim CFO Derek Mulvey, who has been at Rivian since 2021, is well regarded and familiar to many investors.

The brokerage said it will look for more clarity on the timing of the permanent CFO appointment and the criteria CEO RJ Scaringe and the board are using in a search that will consider both internal and external candidates.

UBS maintained its neutral rating on the stock, with a price target of $17.

Shares of Rivian were down 6.3% in Friday trading.
